Hayes had already accepted that sleep was not going to come simply because the clock said it should.

Singapore was quiet around her, deep into the hours when sensible people were asleep. Her body disagreed. According to the schedule it had followed for years, the night was only getting started. She felt awake, restless, and entirely unwilling to spend the next few hours staring at the ceiling.

The oversized bathtub had caught her attention when she first arrived at the hotel. She had noticed it, appreciated it, and then dismissed it as one of those luxury-hotel features people admired without actually having time to use.

Apparently, she had time now.

Hayes filled the tub with hot water and added enough bath foam to make the whole thing feel pleasantly excessive. If she was going to be awake in the middle of the Singapore night, she could at least be comfortable about it.

She settled into the warm water and decided she had made the right choice.

Of course, there was a flaw in the plan.

Her stubborn loyalty to Memphis time was eventually going to come back and collect its debt. Tomorrow there were meetings, conversations where she needed to listen carefully, remember names, notice details, and generally appear as though her brain had joined her in Singapore.

At some point, she was going to have to sleep.

Hayes considered that problem for several seconds.

Then she sank a little farther into the bubbles.

She would be fine.

Maybe she would regret the decision when an alarm went off and her body insisted it was the wrong side of the clock. Maybe coffee would have to perform more heroics than usual. She could deal with that when morning arrived.

For now, the water was hot, the hotel was quiet, and she had nowhere she needed to be for several hours.

Hayes decided she was allowed the luxury.

Tomorrow could have her attention when tomorrow got there.
