Hi, it’s Natsume Benkei!

[Summer Vacation Special] Part 9 of the 10-Part Series of Early Works!

Title: M's Tits Are All Mine To Grope!

Release Date: May 2020

*Note: I drew “Every Day! 1 and 2” before this work, but since those two have already been released in full on my patron site, this 9th installment features this title!

Readers, do you like breast-groping scenes?

I, Natsume Benkei, absolutely love drawing breast-groping scenes, so I’ve depicted them countless times in my previous works.

“Why not try drawing a work where breast-groping is the main focus?”

That’s the kind of thought that led to the creation of this work.

The result… was just so-so!

It wasn’t bad per se, but I couldn’t deny that it missed the mark a bit in terms of what readers wanted.

Looking back now, I think the main theme of breast-groping lacked a certain punch, and the character designs were a bit off, too.

That said, readers are really sharp.

When even the author himself thinks, “This might be a bit weak…,” it shows up directly in the sales figures.

Ever since I started selling manga, I’ve come to realize this more than ever.

In my real life around that time, I’d switched jobs and was working in the illustration department of a certain company.

My drawing skills were still terrible, but since that workplace required practical design experience, I guess I was a good fit for the role, and I successfully landed the job.

From then on, I spent eight hours a day at the office doing illustration and design work, and after work, I’d go home and draw doujinshi—that was my daily routine.

I’d never really liked practicing drawing, and I wasn’t the type to practice on my own.

But once I joined the company, whether I liked it or not, I had to spend eight hours a day working on illustrations and design.

Moreover, unlike with doujinshi, where I could draw whatever I wanted, the company had rules and a minimum standard of quality required for the job.

After leaving work, I would work on my own doujin projects or take on other design-related side jobs.

It was nothing but drawing and design from morning till night, every single day.

It was tough back then, but looking back now, I think it was great training.

The results of that training became clearly evident in Every Day! 3, which I released a few works later.

In this work, I completely transformed my art style from what it had been up to that point.

My drawing skills had improved enough to allow for such a drastic change in style, and since I had quit my job by then to become a full-time artist, I was able to devote more than twice as much time to the artwork as before.

This work received positive reviews for its artwork and composition, and I received a lot of praise from readers for my drawing.

That’s Natsume Benkei, right there.

I believe this is clearly the result of the training I received in illustration and design during my time as a company employee.

Well, to be honest, my drawing was so terrible to begin with that readers’ expectations were probably already at rock bottom. It’s kind of like how a delinquent’s popularity skyrockets the moment they do something slightly good.

In any case, this period—during which I continued my doujin activities while working as a company employee—was my second period of training.

Thank you as always for your support!

See you next time!
