Matthew Spencer

You guys should support Chelsea! They've got Eden Hazard - considered by most to be the best player playing in the premier league right now. They've also got Ngolo Kante - one of only 2 players to win back to back titles with different teams, and the player probably most responsible for Leicester miraculously winning the league a couple of seasons ago. He's also the nicest guy in the league. He was part of the 2018 France squad who won the world cup, and he's so shy and polite, his other teammate had to go and grab the trophy so he could hold it, because Kante was too polite to go and take it himself, despite being one of the best players in the tournament! They've also won 4 premier league titles, 1 Champions League title, and loads of FA Cups. They're probably the most successful English team of the last 10 years. They're currently managed by an Italian bloke called Mauricio Sarri, who is a big smoker, but because smoking is banned in the stadiums, during matches he just chews used cigarette butts. (Very grim but pretty funny)

Joseph Ernest

plus chelsea just signed christian pulisic

Matthew Spencer

Yes! Very good point! Pulisic is one of the best American players in the world, and definitely now the best American player in the premier league for anyone who doesn't know

Alex Quast

As far as big teams, Liverpool have a good mix of historical success and current hopes. Fulham have a history of signing American players (they had five American starters about ten years ago), so they're fun to root for too. I'm a West Bromwich Albion fan, so we aren't even in the conversation.

Zachary Stupple

Hazard is going at the end of the season for sure.....

Fred Evans

I support Fulham and I would advise against supporting us if you have the choice... Especially if we get nothing from Burnley tomorrow

Ross Mcadam

Go for Newcastle if you'd like a horrendous, potentially broken rollercoaster ride for the rest of your life...

Paddy Flynn

Don't support Chelsea, their fans are always caught up in racist incidents.

Luke

Even though Chris says his least favourite team is Tottenham I think you should look into them as they historically had a lot of support from Jewish areas

Nick Felix

An unfortunate and small minority, so not representative of Chelsea, in my opinion. Sadly true, but an amazing club stands above those awful few.

Paddy Flynn

Happen so much more often than any other club in England.

Benji Yapp

I noticed Man U didn’t get mentioned all that much considering their insane history. Definitely have a read into the history with the Busby Babes, Ferguson taking over and dominating, their drop off with his retirement and then sacking off their manager (Jose Mourinho) this season to be replaced by an incredible former player (Ole Gunnar Solksjaer) winning his first fave games with them as caretaker manager.

Daniel Robinson

Agreed Manchester Utd would definitely provide talking points every week.

Gabriel

Support Tottenham!! Underdogs on the rise - and we've got Harry Kane

Nick Felix

Yeah, you're right. Just wish that wasn't what people think about when talking about Chelsea. Fuck racists, right?

Merl B Prichard

you've gotta pull for tottenham, they are great competitors but not complete sellouts and are a ton of fun to watch. also get men in blazers on here

Commie Hilfiger

Actually pick whatever you like but if you pick tottenham I will have to unsubscribe from the patreon. Do not lose my business!

Michael M

copa america is the south american "world cup" where all the south american counties play each other and thats this year. the Euros are the same but for europe and thats in 2020. btw support Liverpool.

Evan Engelhardt

If yall choose Liverpool or Chelsea I’m unsubscribing

Jade Payne

I just joined this Patreon for this EPL podcast. Choose ManU, but at the very least don’t choose Liverpool or Man City. Have some respect for yourselves.

Jake B

As a fan that was in your shoes a few years ago, I still haven't been able to figure out the songs and chants from team to team; especially how everyone knows them and can sing them in unison. Please follow up on that!

Jake Linnane

You should talk about Manchester United, there's a lot of similarities between their downfall and the Lakers downfall in the last few years and they're both just starting to rebound now.

Zachary Stupple

There should be a segment where we submit the best prem chants. I would submit the Jamie vardys having a party! #chatshitgetbanged

Munster

I second this

John George

Tottenham is a real underdog story. They don’t need that Man U money! I swear!

Andy Marroquin

If you want to support a real underdog, who a few years ago weren’t good enough they almost stopped being a team but now is able to actually compete in the premier league as well as give their all with their smaller stature support Bournemouth. Plus their fans are the type to make 10 men feel like a 100 since it’s a smaller stadium but one of the loudest

zach

This series is fantastic

Rikard Ström

Tottenham are the only ones that make sense! Jake is already a Kane fan, and he's the heart of our club. He's from Tottenham, he rose through the ranks of our academy teams and he's one of (if not THE) best strikers in the world. We also don't rely on rich, scummy owners like City or Chelsea. (google Roman Abramovich, Chelsea's owner)

Darryl Fetz

Listen to Rahul, Liverpool all the way!

Joseph Herzog

after youve enjoyed watching some games for fun this year, try fantasy premier league next season. Its a great way to familiarize yourself with players quickly, and it also may help grow some interest in watching teams lower on the table. Also an episode where someone explains Fantasy premier league to jake and amir would be hysterical because the scoring and bonus points are so crazy.

Eli Horn

Can't wait for Amir to get super into soccer and start knowing all the stats and shit

patrickam

Love this podcast it pushed me over into subscribing to Patreon. I think Chris is right the best way to find your team is to watch the games and naturally you’ll start routing for 1 team over another. In terms of watching I’d recommend going on r/footballhighlights and searching for “Match of the day”. On match of the day they show well edited highlights of the weekends EPL games. If the games great the highlights are 10 minutes long if it sucks it’s around 3 or 4 minutes. It’s a good way of knowing what happened without sitting through hours of games.

George Flaherty

Find an arsenal to talk to! Two of my favourite things combining football and Jake and Amir

Before I listen, I want to endorse Chelsea FC as the perfect team for two new Americans to support and here's why: Chelsea just purchased Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga. Pulisic is a 20 year old from Hersey, PA who is pretty widely considered to be the best American prospect ever. Given the players that CFC has at his position getting older and their futures at Chelsea being uncertain, there's a good chance he'll be getting substantial playing time in the EPL as early as next season (he'll be finishing the remainder of this year at Dortmund). I assume you guys will also (if you don't already?) follow the US national team, and Pulisic is going to be the star of that team for years to come. Only makes sense to follow your country's (potentially) best ever player at his club as well.

James Heeney

Don't listen to any team reccomemdations, epl fans are the most biased in any sport ever. Choose your own death wish

Jon Silva

Also consider that players also waste clock because each half is a 45 minute stretch with no time-outs and no unlimited subs. So unless someone deliberately slows the pace of the game by dragging out a throw-in or staying on the ground for longer than need be, it's right back to sprinting.

Okayest Lawyer

I've been trying to get into EPL for a bit now, so this is a good way for me to pick a team as well.

Ben

I grew up in Alabama and was born into an Auburn family. It is very much live and die by Auburn football on Saturdays. I'm also a Chelsea fan after living in London for a while, and fandom felt very similar to CFB in that this is your neighborhood team and you go all in. Definitely recommend Chelsea to you guys they've been doing great the past few years and about to get Pulisic so will be exciting to watch him grow in his career.

Joey Schuenke

I chose to follow Everton randomly. I looked at the EPL table four years ago and said "Sure, this team will work!". A good way to learn players and teams is to start a EPL fantasy league. Me and a few of my friends do it and it helped me learn more players and teams.

Alex Patrick

Thought for future, would be good if you had the EPL table up as you’re discussing. Just if you have a little more info to hand when you’re discussing it would be better in my opinion. But yes big fan so far, enjoying this

Emmet Colin

One of you should support Arsenal and the other Tottenham that would be so fun best derby in the league rn.

akaslendy

hey, check my artworks

Thomas Dalton

Sorry, don't wish to nitpick but the 9-0 win for Man City was not in the Champions League, it was in the League Cup. Which is a knockout competition for the 92 teams in the top 92 teams, Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two, and the team they beat 9-0 is from League One called Burton Albion. Keep up this great podcast

Oscar bartels

Loveing the podcast, if you can get bobby lee on the podcast he will give you a good sell for arsenal

Wajahat Syed

LIVERPOOOOOOL LIVERPOOOOOOOL. Go for Liverpool.
