Irena Kukule

I loved their farewell. That scene was visually breathtaking and so atmospheric... And them narrating with the text from their letters to each other (or maybe those were their thoughts or entries for journal like you suggested) was profoundly beautiful, just filling those scenes with love, care and yearning. As for him not telling he has a betrothed, I agree with you — I think he's protecting her, because he has so many enemies and ill-wishers in the capital and he doesn't want to get her harmed in any way... or like he said — to spare them both from sorrows in case he dies. Not sure if you caught that (sorry, if you did), but it was Tingyun's birthday again (Ling thought that right before he bought those pastries at the stall where he was stabbed). And I am pretty sure the fireworks were organized by him again, only she didn't understand that. I really hope they will reunite soon. 🥺

I actually did not catch that it was her birthday and that those fireworks were for TIngyun! 😭
