I was just settling in to watch this and saw it wasn’t posted yet…Then BOOM right on time!

DGriff

To be fair to Daniel, he has just spent all of season 1 being lied to by Louis and Armand and then at the end of episode 1 of this season, they suddenly both start being super sweet and coupley in a clearly manipulative fashion. On top of that, he is a journalist who has made a career out of hostile interviewing with subjects averse to the truth, which Louis knew when he hired him. You are correct that Armand leads the coven. They refer to him as 'maître', which is French for 'master'.

Steven Jump

Well, you have met my favorite vampire of the season Santiago. Did you guys remember the actor? Ben Daniels who played Tony( Jamie's mom's bf) in Beautiful Thing. He's amazing in this and he is an out gay actor too. Oh and the woman who they killed on stage was not the dress maker Claudia met. Though they looked a lot like each other.

T

Exactly! Daniel is just calling Louis and Armand(especially) out on their bullshit but because Louis is genuinely trying to get to the truth of what happened in his life he got scared and defensive!

T

When Claudia started clapping with glee at the lady being eaten on stage you can see Louis side eyeing her probably thinking ‘she’s definitely Lestat’s daughter’ 😭😭

louis is hot when he gets a bit mean im sorry😭 obsessed w the little evil glint in his eye at 46:52 jacob is a star

Armand is definitely the leader of the coven, they all call him "Maitre" which is French for "Master"! Daniel is a menace so I'm all for him being messed with a bit, but in his defense Louis and Armand definitely have all the power here and have been playing in his face this whole time with that whole "Rashid" bit lmao he's valid for feeling extra snappy imo Armand and Louis' flirtation always gets me like ugh they're both so pretty and they're cute together I'm not mad at it. But that ever looming presence of Lestat...I truly love that while he's not there his presence is haunting the narrative literally. Speaking of Lestat and his "death", I think you were a little confused on Louis referring to Lestat and saying they "killed" him when we all know he's probably alive. Louis (and Claudia) definitely know they didn't "finish the job" the way they were supposed to, but a combination of fear, denial and hope means that they're gonna commit to the idea to cope with what they're running from.

T

I think one of the highlights of this show is how well it shows that we’re only getting Louis’ perspective and truth. His crimes against humans (when he was human and vampire) are almost glossed over while the flaws of those around him are emphasised. The narrative doesn’t care that he was involved with a 16yo as an adult, or of the women he hurt as a pimp, or the 7000 souls he took, or that he put his hands on Claudia (which wasn’t shared until it was exposed in her diary). All this is given to us to show that Louis’ moral corruption predated vampirism and his primary struggle is really shedding societal expectations and accepting himself for all of him. I will never shut up about how insane Jacob Anderson is for playing such a layered monster. He’s the only vampire we’re getting a perspective story from and so just seeing him play a monster who’s a victim who’s a lover who’s desperately human and powerful and weak and cruel and gentle and sooooo pretty.. he’s an EGOT winner in my heart 💓

I want to heart this comment a million times

Everyone kills it in this show, but man, I was not prepared for how much I'd love Ben Daniels as Santiago. Fucking incredible performance.

ondraya

louis is highkey a mean girl and i love that about him so bad

ondraya

this all of this

j-l

in a just world jacob would have several emmys by now

Santiago is the lead actor, but Armand is the Artistic Director as well as the Coven Leader. As a theater bitch, I love the Theatre des Vampires so much: they're pulling liberally from Théâtre du Grand-Guignol, which was a very weird horror theater in Paris in the first half of the 1900s, and its amazing. HIGH camp, even with some Rocky-Horror-esque fans and callouts, saying the lines alongside Santiago (who, I swear to god, has sexual tension with everyone, Ben Daniels is masterful). Also, the fact that it almost looks like Armand is *bashful* in that flirtation scene in front of murder mansion?! So fucking cute. Most powerful man in Paris and he's so completely gone for Louis "Helen of Troy" de Pointe du Lac.

j-l

REAL! in fact i hope he gets meaner in s3

K

It's criminal no one involved with this show has won any awards for their work. If this was on HBO they'd be cleaning up!

K

Hearing y'all theories has me giggling. I need y'all to hurry and get to episode 5 because that is 💣🔥💣🔥💣

It's like Rocky Horror and Cabaret had a baby. When Lestat wrote the Letter is very important because if it was before he after aware that Louis and Claudia were plotting to kill him then he potentially wrote it just to mindfck Louis from beyond the grave. I've wondered this a lot but have settled on it being sincerely written Lestat was always the one more in love with Louis than Louis was with him. I hope we get the definitive answer in season 3.

K

And this is why I have always thought Louis is the low key villain in the story be cause he puts up the fake front or moral superiority. Lestat and Claudi tap danced around it at the end of season 1 but I have always felt that way. Even young Daniel said it on the tape.

Random: Adam, I first noticed this in your FT reactions, but you have truly beautiful hands. Like, that may be weird or whatever, but they are just perfect! Anyway, on the TDV. It's giving so much Rocky Horror Picture Show to those of that/those generations! Especially the dumb little couple that will keep being featured in the audience. Louis is so much his momma's son, wanting to be cruel to Daniel! That Du Lac sense of humor has a bite, and maybe isn't all that funny either. I love this actress for Claudia, she almost turned me around on disliking the character as a whole. What do you guys think? Also, when do you think Lestat wrote the letter in his pseudo will? Considering the events of the story, it's quite a maddening question, whether or what he knew, when he wrote that specifically for Louis. Sam Reid even wondered this and was apparently told, you gotta get off this speculation and just fucking keep acting! But it's an intriguing question nonetheless, no? Guys, you are treasures! Thank you for feeding us early this week!

j-l

i agree that hes definitely more fucked up than he lets on but villain is a bit of a stretch😭😭 everyone on this show is toxic and even tho hes worse than he might admit to some other characters are on another level (i cant really say everything i want to say about it bc spoilers)

j-l

this is kinda spoilery

ezra

maybe delete this… its sort of spoiler-y

(discussing WWII) Brad: it's a welcome change! Adam: 🤨 I'm sorry I laughed out loud 😂 I know what Brad meant but that phrasing and reaction was so funny

UGH making me feel like a history theater nerd IM DOING A DEEP DIVE RN

like baby those are lestat’s genes through and through 😭

If this was on HBO, HBO definitely would have canceled it by now, along with the rest of their queer shows. I'm really grateful it's on AMC even if it means they don't win awards (though I hope they will eventually)

K

True like they cancelled Lovecraft Country and and Watchmen. Anne Rice originally sold her books to Hulu to turn in a series before they let it go to AMC. I really can't see Disney supporting interracial gay vampire domestic horror.

Alexandra Trojanowski

This is spoilery too you know. And they’ve definitely seen it now. FTR I mean your second comment here, even if the reply reverts to your first.
