In my first video with the Minirig 4 I compare it to the older Minirig 3 and the Earfun Uboom L and let 2 Minirigs 4 play in stereo against my Nubert XS-3000RC.

I tried the Minirig 3 2.1 system. Sound was great, but usability was atrocious so I returned them. Takes way too long to setup, pair etc, TWS range was very limited, single LED and button UI fiddly. Is the new version better in that regard? Pairing seems to have improved?

lol what a nice face with this ports haha!

Wasn't the minirig 3 supposed to be listened slightly off-axis, otherwise the treble would have too much energy? You can put it in the pouch and adjust the angle like that. That's how I do it. Anyway. I've waited for this video for a long time.

Oooo... What improvements have you noticed in usability?

They pair easily now, if you don’t screw it up like I did at the very end. Next time you turn on both more or less simultaneously, they will pair immediately, otherwise you need to pair them again, but the pairing is much more stable than before and reach between 2 minriigs 4 seems also improved a lot I haven’t encountered any break ups. Also like the dedicated volume buttons a lot and the adaptive EQ makes listening much more enjoyable as you do not need to adjust anything manually

Foltea Iustin

Also, can you compare the old minirigs in 2.1 vs the new ones in 2.1, if you have 2 subs?

Foltea Iustin

Or at least, how loud are they compared to the old minirig 3? I believe that they should be louder as they have 50W now.

Those bass kicks at 18:45, 28:05, and 35:10 are nasty out of the Minirig! Seems like volume isn't quite synchronized when in Stereo mode. Even when placed on your coffee table, the sound was shifted slightly to the right.

Could be an issue with the app being still active in the background. I encountered playback hiccups as long as the app is running which may result in those weird phase issues which occurred when I played pink noise. I should have killed the app and check again.

The new ones are crazy loud I haven’t tested the 4 and 3 side by side at maximum but they appear really loud to me

oluvsgadgets

I tried them side by side now but they are about the same loudness

At least is the new one more dynamic or something. It has to do something better. It also has less battery life at maximum.

I love the Minirigs. I had the MR3 for years and used them in stereo. The MR4 fixed almost all of the issues that the MR3 had, except the bass hits, which is really a bummer. However, the biggest problem for me is that it’s a UK based company, so in Europe we need to add custom fees and taxes: that means in The Netherlands, 1 x MR4 will cost you 200 euro. That’s makes it a tough recommendation.

Foltea Iustin

True. I bought my 2.2 minirig mk3 setup with an extra 120 euro tax. Enormous tax.

Elwin

That is a lot of extra money!

The Beosound A1's are on a par with MK4 and they are over £200 each! . You're paying for top build quality and components in the A1 and Minirig4. The Beosound A1's have the same issue of breakups and phasing issues if the app is running in the background . ☺️🎶

HiFi1

What do you mean by the "bass hits"? Is this a problem caused by the app (for the MK4) ?

Elwin

You can hear it as well in the video. The kick from the bassdrum sometimes distorts a second or two before it corrects itself.

HiFi1

But they should fix this right? I mean they really should, hopefully soon enough.

HiFi1

Do you think it's caused by the app? Oluv believed it was from the app causing it, but he didn't try without the app to confirm.

Hi, I'm looking into getting the minirig 4 but I think they are rather expensive for what it is.... I use the iloud as pc desktops, but these are a bit large for travelling and you also have the cables. Did anyone compare these minirigs to a pair of wonderboom 4 for example? Other options? Thanks!
