I’ll be back… (Patreon)

We just arrived at my parents and will stay there over the weekend.
As you can see I finally found my Partybox 100 again and when I got the final firmware for the UBoom X I immediately got out to shoot some video against the Partybox and the Tribit.
During the video I noticed some further issues at high levels which I mostly managed to correct afterwards by readjusting some compressor settings. Today I got a new firmware with my updated settings and had a short listen. It’s a significant improvement over what you will hear in the upcoming video but I may still need to do some further adjustments also for indoor and outdoor mode as these can also become a bit scratchy with volume cranked close to maximum. In the video you will still hear the previous version but there will be an update once the speaker is released and you should get the corrected version. I also created a new setting based on insane but with bass low cut higher and boosted even more at the same time. This will be the xXX Boom mode… you know for those weirdos who like being droned…
It’s not easy to fine tune the sound for high levels actually as the speaker is so loud, you need to go out in the open field and do the adjustments there comparing back and forth which may retain more bass but still keep distortion under control somehow. I really tried to push bass as much as possible therefore I struggle a bit keeping it completely clean.
Earfun’s settings should remain mostly clean from what I could hear so far but the bass is far not as deep and punchy and several dB softer than insane mode. But with the 10-band EQ you can create something more appealing than default and even boost bass if needed, so there is lots of room for experiments among my 3 or 4 settings.
As there is not such a hurry anymore I would like to sit down again and optimise all modes again to make the sound even cleaner.
So stay tuned…
