I have exciting news for all UBoom L owners. I had already mentioned it before shortly: the UBoom L will get app support just like the UBoom X together with a 10-band EQ and my own indoor/outdoor settings selectable. Once my setting is selected the outdoor button will switch between my indoor and outdoor, otherwise it will switch between Earfun’s own outdoor mode which has less bass and is rather useless.

But now the default tuning from Earfun seems to have been changed and resembles my own setting quite a bit although slightly different it doesn’t sound that bad actually and with the 10-band EQ you can boost bass even slightly more especially for those who always complained about too little bass.

My volume curve is different though so if you switch from the user EQ to mine it will appear way softer (except at maximum volume of course). Also my outdoor mode will be louder and bassier up to maximum volume than Earfun’s setting and by boosting bass with the user EQ you can also bring it into some slight distortion with particular tracks. But there is definitely some room for fooling around which makes the speaker even better than it was.

I am still testing the app for bugs, but once everything is sorted out it should be released within the next weeks. To get the latest firmware you will need to update the speaker over wire with the Action tool available for windows only the same way you already updated it before.

Great, definitely sold on this one. Eagerly awaiting the official release.

Can we choose a firmware in the app, or is it latest firmware only

oluvsgadgets

You need to update the speaker to the latest firmware manually through a PC then the app will see the speaker.

David Stock

Ok, as long as the latest firmware they send is one of yours, pre- 0.5

Nice that they add app support for it. But for myself, it is not necessary. I like your tuning too much. I have no need for an adjustable equalizer. If you are not able to do something better with the equalizer, the speaker is good as it is for me.

Is it possible to disable the sounds when powering on / powering off the speaker?

We need to update the speaker to the latest firmware with cable first, do you mean to their firmware 0.50 update which had boomy bass? or will there be a newer one relesed first for this?

oluvsgadgets

It’s a completely different firmware with different sound and my modes included which you can select through the app.

i think it's still in question if you would require to manually update for the app to work with older units.. time will tell. but updating through the windows software is not my worst experience. only takes like 5 minutes
