As many seem to be concerned about the maximum loudness of the SpX-R, I made this test for you. I wouldn't advise to listen to music through headphones at really high levels to protect your hearing, but for those needing that loudness I can state that the SpX-R is the loudest out of the heapdhones showed here. Unfortunately my microphones are already at the limit what I am able to capture, which you can already hear with the recording of the PX8 S2 and the Life Q30, which both already appear distorted becasue the high low frequency pressure already causes my microphones to clip regardless of recording gain. Because of this I had to play the SpX-R with studio mode to be able to demonstrate maximum volume without any obvious clipping from my recording. With boom boom room mode the SpX-R remains still completely clean but is louder than all these at the same time. If you really need these high levels, I would recommend to always use standard mode, because ANC and transparency mode can get into some apparent distortion at levels close to maximum.

Below you can listen to all headphones playing at maximum volume with their default EQ settings and equal recording gain. I selected the same bassheavy tracks already played in the B&W video, which are rather prone to cause distortion.

Thanks Oluv. Although I've had my hearing checked and it's all good, most Bluetooth headphones don't get quite satisfyingly loud enough for me (in-ears are better). Most reviews don't talk about loudness so it's hard to tell. In their review of the PX8 S2, SoundGuys said "These headphones are loud. Really loud. Loud as in: I listen to them at the lowest possible settings and they’re pretty loud." So if the SPXR are even louder, then sounds like they should be plenty loud 👍🏼 For reference, Sony WH1000XM3 weren't loud enough. Final Audio UX3000 are just about kind of sufficient.. but I still almost always have them maxed out. Earfun FreePro 2 with your tuning (I think it was called "reference"?) are loud enough. Also, I don't know if you've tested or mentioned this in previous posts, but how is the mic quality for calls on the SPXR?

Thanks! Merry christmas to you and your Family Olaf!

Hm interestingly your headphone sounds a bit to sharp for me at Maximum volume. I had to turn down the volume some Stepps to get an enjoyable Sound. This was only the Case with the SpX-R and not with one of the other models. But i had left out the bowers & wilkins as it sounded so Bad in your Podcast that i wasn‘t interested in ist Max volume. The Problem with the sharpness in my war’s i also have with at least one of our two Uboom X… Maybe my ears are simply crazy or maybe it was the fault of my hearing Equipment (IPhone 13 mini & AirPods Pro 2). Nevertheless i am now a Bit worried of buying the SpX-R as i am not sure if the sound will really satisfy me in terms of enjoyment. Wünsche dir und deiner Familie schon mal einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr.

You missunderstood my explanation i think ^^ I ment i listened to your Max volume samples via the Air pods pro 2 and there it sounded to sharp. I did not listen to it in real.

Airpods Pro 2 sound nowhere close to the real sound
