A first quick outdoor test with the Minirigs 2.1 against the Xtreme 5. I will do more tests, also indoors against the KH80, so stay tuned.

It sounds like they are atleast 4db louder, but that depends on the track

It is gonna be interesting to hear the difference when jbl is plugged into electricity. Cause there should be noticeable difference and can be nice selling point that is kind of overlooked. Cause portable does not mean there is not gonna be powersocket nearby.

Every time I have the 4.1 setup in the backpack or putting them out somewhere, people are simply impressed by the Minirigs, great job, now with the update of the sub connecting all wireless. Also the App improved significantly.

Just that you need to spend 50€ extra for a special charger that can power it properly.

Don’t assume that rotating the subwoofer 90 degrees improves the sound. Your son was right to place it with the front and port side equidistant from you. Deep Bass frequencies are nondirectional, so aligning the port toward you doesn’t make sense. This setup can actually reduce bass output and disrupt phase coherence at higher frequencies within the bass spectrum. 🙀

You definitely need a second sub for the 4 Minirigs 🤓

even though I don't like the harsh sound of xtreme 5, it sounds better at outdoors in my opinion, besides you only carry 1 device and don't need a bag. but indoors I give the credit to minirigs definitely 💯

Honestly I don't like the minirigs outdoors, they don't sound impressive. Expecially when considering the price and having a separate 'sub' woofer. It's a no for me, as indoors they sound nice, but I will take studio monitors then.

Honestly I'm really impressed by the Minirigs so far, I'd take this loudness, separation and accuracy over JBLs bass every time for outdoor usage especially because you can place the speakers above the ground and place the sub into some corner on the ground and they have potential to sound absolutely incredible for the size... Price is very high tho but I'm wondering if these can maby replace all speakers that one needs including the "home hifi" use case at least for normal volumes. When is the comparison with Neumanns coming?

I tried to connect the Xtreme 5 to an Anker 140W Charger, which supports 28V 4A, but the Xtreme only uses 5V mode. So JBL managed to artificially deny the AC mode on third party chargers. Very consumer unfriendly, and also bad for e-waste, because now every user in the EU has to buy a additional USB-C charger to get AC mode, you usually dont need, because everyone already has one.
