we watch at least 5 episodes of Naruto a month (probably more), my wife's never seen it, I've seen half of it, let's go

“What secrets can you possibly learn from a ninja’s body?” is a very good question that doesn’t get directly answered for like 300 episodes. Although I guess you can say that a certain snakey villain kind of answers that question in Part 1. Also, “So, everyone’s sharingan is the same?” “Yea—eeeeh” made me burst out laughing. Anne Marie really asked the most pointed questions possible for this show.

So much more lore and world building to be explored, can't wait to hear Ann Marie's thoughts on future episodes!

Yes, ninja do get paid for their services--I think Naruto even makes references in Part 1 to having saved money from missions completed. I'm also fairly certain that being employed as a nation's ninja pays well, but not as well as going rogue and essentially becoming a nation-less mercenary (but this is also more dangerous, and usually your former country is trying to kill you 🤷‍♂️).

These are the best way to re-cap before restarting where I left off years ago! I don't even know if I was 20% or 70% done the series lol, (and I don't intend to look it up until these catch up). I don't think I was too far past meeting a guy named Sai but I suffer similar degree of memory leakage to one of our podcast hosts

i also don't think naruto is annoying and i didn't think that when i was a teenager and everybody around me was saying he's "dumb, weak, annoying, etc." like my guy, he's 12 and you're like 2-3 years older than him and don't even have half his panache. i also agree with anne marie. the way women and girls are written in shonen series is so whack and it's tired.

My friends and I have a joke about if we ever encounter Kishimoto, IT'S ON SIGHT cause his development of female characters is garbage and nonexistent.

I agree anime (not just shonen anime) write women and girls poorly, but I think a few in Naruto like Sakura were lucky to get some (just a little) proper representation (I love Sakura) compared to others like Dragon Ball or Jujutsu Kaisen.
