Good Friday to ya!

I keep meaning to set one Daily Comics post per month as a "free" post - if you don't normally see my daily comics on Fridays, but you're seeing this one, you're probably "following" this account for free. If you're used to seeing my dailies every Friday, you're already a paid member (thank you!!).

Here's a pretty common theme for you cat people out there:

Doesn't matter, all poops are Pip poops.

You can buy the original for this comic here! Paying patrons get 50% off (which, fyi, is the entire price of a whole year's $2/mo subscription) - just use the coupon code at the bottom of this post.  ⬅ if you can't see that post, you can upgrade to $2/mo and then reload it! (Yup yup, you can use the discount code even if you just joined. Love you, too.)

I try to keep this in mind every time someone says that arguing politics doesn't work. People don't always indicate whether your words make an impact (and sometimes they're not even aware when they do). We're trash at apologizing in American culture; it shouldn't be a surprise that we're not good at telling someone their counterargument made an impact, either.

Anyway, the "objective" I'm working on is something that will definitely be shared here! I've just gotta find the time to work on it. It'll involve watercolors, and plants, and trans issues. So, the usual.

Original art for the above comic is here!

Last week my friend Andy asked an "insider baseball" question about caricatures, so:

I used to set up the chairs intuitively, without realizing that this is what I was doing! I wonder how many other caricaturists set up like this.

Here's the original, if you're nerdy enough to want it! (It's cheaper because this is such a niche topic!)

Wednesday was a big anniversary for me!

I completely forgot about taxes. Everything else about it is pretty great, though.

The original's here if you want it!

Okay I did NOT intend to bookend this week's dailies thematically, but it happened anyway...

He's not wrong. (Here's the original!)

The "fire pit" was this humiliating, slowly-widening hole in the ground.

The Queen of Frugality, I wheelbarrowed over a pile of old bricks that I salvaged from a neighbor who was getting rid of them last month, and...

It ain't perfect, but it's done! Now the cats can just... shit everywhere else.

Reminder to scroll to the bottom of this post for a 50% discount code if you're a Patreon member of mine and you wanna buy an original!

That coupon code works on all daily comics originals, btw, making them $25 instead of $50. Since it's almost the end of the month, I just dipped the prices on the older dailies by $10 - I'll be clearing out anything that doesn't sell by April, so if you want one, nab it soon!

I sure hope your weekend involves much, much less poop than mine inevitably will. Happy weekend to you!

Totally get what Jen said. When my spouse asked me if I wanted to retire early, my brain shut down.

Chris Wichtendahl

Alas, with 3 cats, every day is filled with poop.

Katelyn Sweigart

We have multiple horses. We use wheelbarrows. There's mountains.

I was five years into my freelance career when I received a VERY tempting offer for a staff position 2000 miles away. I was struggling with the decision and talked it over with my Dad. Amongst other helpful thoughts and advice (both pro and con), he said "Son, after so many years working for yourself, I'm not sure if you're even _housebroken_ for office work any more..."

Nice fire pit! Dogs are just as bad, btw. I found some old wire fencing I had could be put over the flowers after I seeded, bowed up a bit in the middle. Yard cat and dogs have left it alone, so far. The compost/dirt piles, apparently fair game if not covered.

Ripley LaCross

Ugh that second one hit me hard ;_; Also, fUCK. TAXES.

dcorsetto

That's exactly what I'm using to keep my seedlings from getting destroyed this year, too!

Amy Crook

cat poop and taxes are forever problems (also fuck, yeah, i have to do that, too. the taxes and the catbox.)

MaryAnne Glazar

I put off doing my taxes while I was moving; that was 2+ yeas ago and I haven't caught up yet. One of these days...

Oh, don't wait. During a "bad spot" of 2 years, I didn't file. I was active duty military, they knew where I was, 7 years later, they contacted me. At least I had dug mostly out of the bad spot and my current spouse "knew a guy" who worked with this kind of thing and most of the penalties (and interest on those penalties...) was waived. The around $800 I had owed had ballooned into over $4000, I ended up paying half that after his fee.

Chris Mac.

that second one, that really hit me. I've had those moments. Most recently I was dating someone and there was this moment when i was forced by circumstances to reveal an embarassing medical issue and they just said they understood and it broke my brain. the anxiety i felt in the situation turned into immense relief that turned into anxiety for another reason (my brain weasels ran amok). but my brain was broken. it still amazes me. I'm mostly over that particular anxiety, but I'll never forget that interaction.

Dirk Bergstrom

A week of excellent dailies! Nice fire pit.

Every poop is a Vincent poop when you only have one cat. But it's never a nice surprise when he decides to drop a stank one in the litter box when I'm close to it I also need to do my taxes, I've been half dead this last month from (probably) bronchitis and haven't had energy for much other than coughing and work in so long

Andy Ihnatko

Eighty or ninety years from now, after the firepit has gradually disappeared under layers of dirt and grit and grass, this orderly and meaningful later of bricks is going to make some archaeologist/colonial America historian VERY excited, and then (probably during peer review of an academic paper) VERY embarrassed.

Prettydragoon

That's a very nice fire pit! Also, you may think it ain't perfect, but it is better than perfect: it is done.

Prints of Jen's comic? 🥺 -j

I can easily identify the cat poops. Unburied is the old lady, huge logs is the big boy, the rest is the little girl.

dcorsetto

I should just do a small collection of inspirational dailies. :)
