Hello hello! Happy Friday to ya!

Here's an exciting adventure that happened to me and Amanda last Friday night (we broke in the new fire pit!).

He probably does this every night at 1 am, and I just slept through it til now. The original art's for sale here!

I finished two half-drawn dailies and one brand-new daily this morning for you, because I had a busy weekend, and some VIP visitors came to stay with me after that! Lemme explain:

You may have seen photos of this process on Instagram or Bluesky already. My garage was abundant with 18 years' worth of accumulation - a lot of it from past roommates, but plennnnty from me. (Here's the original art for this daily!)

Here's the before and after (which isn't as satisfying as I'd hoped it would be - the bulk was in the far back and the right front corner, which you can't really see!).

You can just make out the giant McPedro I used to take with me to conventions!

His teeth are a little moldy, so he'll be disassembled and washed one day soon. Maybe I'll use his hide to pack GWS book orders.

I could spend all day showing you old artwork I found, but they'll need to be scanned in (the photos are hard to make out!). In the meantime, here's something you didn't know (and I didn't really remember) about me: I spent TONS of hours making little tiny clay things with Fimo when I was in middle through high school.

(Forgive the bad focus on some of these, they were extremely tiny!) LOOK AT THE BITTY YIN YANG NECKLACE

This one had a ball of glow-in-the-dark clay inside to make it glow like a jack-o-lantern! You can kinda see it below.

These earrings were a favorite:

I paired them with this (strung on a choker):

... and wore them with a Garfield tee shirt that had THE EXACT SAME IMAGE on a white background. This was in 7th and 8th grade. I was very cool.

The googly eyes on these two only survived one side, but I thought they were good enough to keep a record of:

Please shower me with awe and admiration for throwing all of these out. It wasn't easy!

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled cat nonsense.

So I guess the dirty one will go somewhere OTHER than the hamper. Until she finds THAT spot. (Here's the original art!)

My parents helped me for a couple more hours yesterday morning, after which we visited my brother for lunch to celebrate.

I SWEAR I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING. (I almost did, tho.)

Here's the original for that last one! Remember to use the coupon code DAILYSMILE50 if you buy any original art in the store - you'll get 50% off for being a patron. <3

I'll clear out all of the March dailies from the store next Friday, so if you want one of them, snatch it up now!

I'm off to visit friends in New Jersey for the weekend, before I head out to San Diego for a week. It'll be a busy two weeks; I'll try to make simpler (maybe one-panel!) daily comics over the coming weeks, so you'll still have SOMETHING to enjoy on your Fridays. :)

Til then, have a swell weekend, and don't stuff anything else in your garage!

I would have kept the dog, parrots, and pumpkin! Good job, though!

...and a belated "Happy Birthweek."

So I was collecting wood and the parts to make a potting bench, tore apart a pallet, neighbor threw out a platform bed, whose slats are perfect! Aldi had what I wanted for $40. Now I have a bunch of wood for other projects?

MaryAnne Glazar

Hey, at least now you can go in the garage!

Claudia D.

Or sold those tiny sculptures on your web store…

Lauren Sparks

Happy happy birthday!!!! And throwing out the tiny sculptures... you have much strength. I would not be able to do it. 🥲

Underpants and Overbites

Way to get rid of those tiny clay things! I'm going through something similar - just trying to downsize, but I like to tell myself I'm doing future Jackie a favor. And it sets the precedent that just because I made something, doesn't mean I have to keep it forever. Hope you feel lighter, and happy birthday!!

Amy Crook

Happy birthday! It's hard to let the past go but birthdays are a good time to recalibrate, I think? Also my sympathies about the smart cat problem, it sucks when they figure out your methods of thwarting them. Good thing they're cute!

Andie

Happy belated birthday!!!

David Neale-Lorello

“Don't stuff anything else in your garage” sounds like double entendre!

Thursday is exactly me

Michael Steamweed

Been a long time, indeed, since I've seen a newspaper delivery person. Or even a rolled-up newspaper on someone's yard.

William Cole

Happy birthday! As for this "throwing things out" stuff, sounds fake.

Minzoku Bokumetsu

I was gonna say! I expected a link to them on the store!! =(

Tim Pendergast

First thought that somebody was driving around your town throwing bread on people's doorsteps.

Steve Boyko

Happy birthday! Good for you for throwing stuff out! I take pictures of things that once had meaning to me then dispose of them.

Trebuchet

Happy Birthday Danielle! And apologies for bringing up a possibly sore subject, but, much as I enjoy the dailies, and especially the kitties, I came here originally for Elephant Town. I was just getting interested in the characters and how they were going to connect and it sort of all stopped. Is it ever coming back? Maybe if I ask nicely and say PLEASE?

Clinton Johnston

Ah, dailies. How doeth I loveth thee? Let me count the ways. One daily, two dailies, three dailies ...

Andy Ihnatko

Your intention was to keep Fennel from disturbing your sleep The actual effect was creating a new enrichment activity for her So..."task failed successfully"?

Andy Ihnatko

My clutter problem was almost halved once I moved to a place sixty miles away, because the MIT Flea Market was no longer less than a half an hour's drive. ("A military teletype machine from the 1970s? And it's only $20? Why, I'd be a FOOL not to snap this right up!")

Prettydragoon

Happy Birthday! You THREW AWAY all those Fimo pieces? You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

Chris Mac.

Happy Hatching Day~! One my cats, Juno, has a thing for plastic and always finds the most inopporune moments to find plastic I had thought safely put away or wasn't aware exisited in the first place. Running late for work? CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP Just woke up in the morning and still in bed? CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP Playing a computer game or painting? CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP

Take it however it serves you best!!

As soon as SECRET PROJECT is done (we're halfway there!) I'm getting RIGHT BACK INTO Elephant Town!! And thank you, it's not a sore subject at all! I just wish the secret project could move quicker so I could get back to it. Glad you were enjoying ET enough to ask, and thank you for sticking around! <3

Leslie Carter

Ooh, Happy (Late) Birthday!! I'm terrible at timing these salutations, but the heartfelt sentiment is there!

dcorsetto

I'm so bad at birthdays, too! And I'll accept salutations any day of the weeeeek, thank you!
