Good morning! I'm scanning & posting these early, because tomorrow I'll be on the road to Asheville for a signing at Firestorm Books! If you're in the area this Saturday the 17th between 3 and 6, come out and say hello!

I spent a LOT of time in my garden this past week. Just when I thought I was ready to get back to indoor work (which Pip prefers)...

It didn't take me that long. Pip was back in my lap indoors in no time.

Here's a little taste of my garden's upgrade since last time!

(I went wattle crazy again.)

The most noticeable change is the sheer amount of cat protection, tbh. It's like the crop I'm growing the most of this year is wire grids.

These'll all be flowers, I can't waaaait.

There were at least two dailies I didn't finish in time to share (I decided to draw all the contents in my fridge in one of them, like a maniac), but here's a simple one that took a completely reasonable amount of time to do in a morning!

Deep, bellowing trumpet-farts. Every morning. Followed by cackling. There, now you know my full address. (Here's the original if you want it, you air swallower you. Use DAILYSMILE50 for 50% off at checkout!)

Here's a rambling two-parter I started last week and finished up today:

The insurance adjuster made me cry! Just a little. She told me to expect my car to be considered totaled, which would have crushed me. I gave that car a NAME, they can't TOTAL JULIE! (And they won't! The appraiser looked at the bumper and laughed and said "I ain't totaling that.")

(Here's both originals for $90 if you want 'em! It'll be $45 for you, just use the code DAILYSMILE50 at checkout for your Patreon-earned 50% off! That'll work on any original art in the store, too.)

As of today (FINALLY), Julie's at a body shop and I'm now driving a rental car named Jacob. Jacob is all business. He's just here to see that my needs are met.

My needs are just to get to Asheville for that signing. If you're in the area, come down Saturday the 17th from 3-6 and pick up some goodies! I'll have the Daily Comics books, GWS compendiums, GWS originals, and stickers, including these new ones that came just in time for Pride!

Once I'm home I'll be offering these in my store at low prices in batches, because I want to encourage people to slap them all over the place. There's no LGB without the T and I want people to be reminded of it every time they look at a bathroom mirror, the back of a stop sign, your water bottle as you chug your water in public, the Harry Potter book you slyly slapped this sticker onto at the used bookstore...

Anyway, I hope I see some of you in Asheville this weekend! And if we don't see each other, I hope you sniff a flower without an allergic reaction this weekend.

*Makes grabby hands at the lovely rainbow stickers* (I'll have to wait to order them, I'm much too far away)

William Cole

Happy to hear Julie is getting patched up!

I want those stickers! Shipping them to the UK would bd ludicrous, though! Pride in Hull (local Pride organisers) just issued a statement suspending all political party participation in this year's parade, because no LGB without the T 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18jKQngKGU/

I'm not sure if they'd arrive in time but I'd love to buy some of those for my queer climbing club's Pride Night coming up in early June. I'll risk it - those babies look to good to live on one continent, let's spread them around. Also, the garden looks amazing so far, can't wait for the sprouting photos. And emotions are hard, but gosh I've heard some beautiful music lately, and I adore that sort of crying.

Yay Julie!!!! Always love a mechanic who brings the conversation back to practical after the fishing story from insurance. Also, cool stickers!

dcorsetto

Aahh that's so great!! I'll try to get them up Tuesday or Wednesday - I hope they make it out in time!! And thanks, Cathi. :.) Crying to beautiful music is the best sort of crying.

dcorsetto

Wow, that's (heartbreaking, and) very cool of them. And good news, they won't be ludicrous! I've been shipping stickers internationally using a $1.65 stamp and some good card stock to keep 'em from flat in a regular-ass envelope! So unless you want a whole box of them, it should be pretty cheap to get them out to you. :)

I misread that as "perched up" and pictured her begrudgingly stirrupped-up at an ob/gyn appointment, which, considering it's her rear that needs fixing, is kind of appropriate! (I'll let everyone's imagination draw that one for them, instead of drawing it myself, out of respect for Julie!)

William Cole

Or alternately, filled up with fish?

Brendan

*looks up travel time from Charlotte to Asheville* Hmmmm...

Hugh Eckert

Enjoy Asheville! Safe travels! Looking forward to ordering stickers from you!

"I grew too many plants. Want some?" Gee, whiz, what could Danielle's answer possibly be? Such mystery. Very unknown!

Amy Crook

I definitely have to buy a batch of those stickers! I should send you some of my anti-nazi punks in return, hehehe.

I would love to order a bunch of stickers for my daughter's middle school Pride Alliance club to give out! Last day of school is June 5, though...so maybe they can have them at the start of the next school year in August. (The club is doing a year-end bake sale for The Trevor Project, which I just think is awesome, especially coming from tweens. She's a Girl Scout too, BTW. 😁)

Given my past experiences with insurance, I'd rate anyone connected to those rackets as perhaps 1 millimeter higher in esteem than the regime that has taken over our nation's government ... I'm far from a "Luigi," but I empathize with ya, for what that's worth

@Danielle as technically a "Julie," this entire comment section is fun to read =|

William Cole

I apologize for inadvertently threatening to fill you with fish. ; )

unrelated to anything (yet?): I was in line for John Scalzi at the Gburg Book Festival today and was between two women, the one behind me noticing the one in front of me and asking, "Excuse me, is that from Four Seasons* Books? I noticed the moth design!" and they started talking and I was half tempted to barge in and ask if either of them read Elephant Town but felt self-conscious XD *I think? My surreptitious photo just has "...s Books Shepherdstown WV"
