Hello and welcome to Friday, friends! I had a PACKED weekend with the Comix Accountability Club visiting Shepherdstown for four days!

Anyone else get their chores done like this?

My garden is the best procrastination. Here's the original art, scroll down for your 50% off coupon if you wanna buy it!

This one's a love letter to my favorite accessory...

I'm uhh still learning how to read the time on it. 😬

Here's the original art! Oh, and here's the watch itself, oooooo.

So tiny!

Good news:

The workshop was also genuinely a hit, aside from Jason being hot! He gave me permission to share this photo (during the longer poses, I slipped behind the artists and drew along with them).

Since this session was partially clothed, I'll share my drawings here with the whole Patreon group. If you're not into figure drawing, just scroll down until you see comic panels again!

After our warmups, I had Jason do the same pose for 20 minutes, turning a quarter-turn every 5 minutes, so that we could each turn him into a character and create a full turnaround sheet:

From there, I instructed the group to use their new turnaround sheet as a reference for the rest of the poses.

I don't normally work digitally, but using my iPad made it easier to walk around and still teach while I drew. (My iPad case has a handle on the back!)

Btw, I share my not-clothed figure drawings (usually watercolor) with the $5/month Art Nerd tier, in case you're interested in joining them! Wednesday's session just went up yesterday. And as with your current Daily Comics tier, I offer my Art Nerds a 50% off coupon for all the original figure drawing art, too.

Alright, one last comic! It's about the forbidden guest room, which I try to keep cat-free.

How exotic. 🙄 THANKS PIP. (There's a litter box in there just in case a guest accidentally locks one of the cats in the room.)

Here's the original art for this one! Remember to use the coupon code DAILYSMILE50 at checkout for your Patreon-only 50% off discount!

Luke and I are headed to Richmond, Virginia today as a little pre-birthday trip (for him), and then I'll be hunkering down for awhile, which should mean more regular daily comics. If you see someone who looks like me in Richmond this weekend, wave and say hi, because it probably is me!

We're getting PER! FECT! WEATHER!! this weekend, and I hope most of you are, tooooo! Enjoy it (or enjoy the AC if it sucks out) and see ya next week!

Hmm. If it weren't for the wind-up requirement I'd suggest a Timex Easy Reader with Indiglo. Bought one for my mom. Easy to read in general and Indiglo makes it easy to read in the dark. $50 or something My choice for me was a Casio MDV106 $50. A real dive watch. The dive watch reviewers all really like it and have nothing bad to say about it except that it runs on batteries. I can read this without my glasses while driving.

You can tell I've been making way too many smart watch faces. I can tell without looking it up that those are Dauphine hands on your watch.

ooh, my partner & I'll be in Richmond on Sunday! We're visiting a friend and going to the Flaming Lips/ Modest Mouse concert. Hope you have a great RVA trip too :)

Rob

Hope Luke loves Richmond! We’ll be looking for you.

Haha cats gonna cat. I love that you found clever ways to feed all those starving cartoonists!

My dad got me an analogue watch when I was in school specifically so I would have a visual idea of time, since "1:50" looks like "oh, there's still half an hour left until 2" since 50 = half = WRONG I get that it could be confusing to anyone not used to that!

Trebuchet

Oh, tater tot casserole! We used to make that frequently. I should find the recipe!

My teachers & parents used a kitchen timer - the kind with a visible dial - to help me grasp how much longer I had to finish a test or eat my dinner! I totally get it. :)

Ooohh nice!! Funny, we’re also here for a Sunday concert, but it’s uhh very different than those two!! What a great pair you’re going to see! Have a great time!

dcorsetto

Whoa! Well, I learned something. :)

Haha, I thought your watch would have Russian numerals for it to be hard to read. But I guess you're just not really used to an analogue clock? (Or it's too small and you might need glasses? 😝) I always wear an analogue watch. My current one doesn't have numbers on the hours, only small lines. But it's secretly a smart watch too, because it counts my steps and has a Bluetooth connection to my phone. Looks classic, but isn't.
