Still trucking at these little studies! I'm trying to keep these *mostly*  monochromatic, but I decided the one with the pink flowers kinda needed the pink.

I went out for an afternoon walk on Monday to get some daytime photos of town to draw from (starting with that last one). The main focus wound up being "trash and flowers," so you'll probably see a lot of trash cans in the next lump update. ;)

(But I need to start using that ruler for straight lines. Putting a ruler in that top photo was a bald-faced lie.)

Most of the markers I'm using are from a Prismacolor marker set my parents gifted me for Christmas in 2001 or 2002! Somehow most of them still have their juice! That said, I placed an order for more of them now that there are colors that weren't in the first batch!

These are all in a big sketchbook (well, the blank proofs I received for the GWS hardcovers, actually! They take marker really well!), so they won't be for sale, but I'm considering putting together a stapled sketchbook full of them when I have enough! ^_^

Aww, thanks for the love! I was feeling a little self-conscious about that one. :) (It's the old bus depot in town, which now houses an unusual, and well-known, slum lord.)

I really love the idea of drawing corners of your own hometown (even without writing a graphic novel about it).

It feels so strange and cool to walk these alleys after drawing them. I've paid so much attention to every detail (though I've selected a lot of details to omit!), it's like walking through a place you dreamed about afterwards!

I like the lines without the ruler, more authentic and a little quirky.

I bought huge box of prisma color markers and pencils back my freshman year of college, for an art class. Most of them still work for me too, i think that was about 2001 as well! I got a few newer boxes of warm greys, french greys and cool greys last year though, just because those I use most and those are the ones closet to dying.

Gosh this is nothing short of wizardry. I love seeing the choices you're making to translate complex shapes and textures into comics-ready form. Keep it up!

Nice! Those tones are spot-on.

It looks like a really nice town you live in! I am alittle bit jealous. Drawing is such a meditative activity I found. And you can learn so much by drawing because you have to observe so attentively.

Ooh yeah, I owe myself a lot of cold greys! Not because I use them often - they're the least-used greys - but because I used the warm & French greys so much that I bought doubles of all of them years ago!

I do march of robots every year, i like cool greys for metal if I'm not just outright doing water color!

That last one really caught my attention and blew me away. My first thought was the same as Jocelyn's, so I was glad to see the answer already up here. (I figured it was in your Big Book o' Sketches, but just in case...) The colors and the depiction is so visually pleasing!

I'm so glad people like that one! I was feeling really self-conscious about it!!

The shadows on the roof are perfect, by the way...
