I haven't done one of these in SO SO LONG!!

Two intentionally-vague questions for you this time:

What are they watching on Netflix (classics preferred, links to actual clips of your favorite moment WAY appreciated), and

What delicious shrimp dish are they eating?

Less of a poll, really, and more of a choose-your-own quasi-adventure. ;)

I'm finally finishing up the art for the first chapter of Elephant Town, which means there will be a lot more opportunities for y'all to help me fill in little details like these ones. Did you know the new book launches NEXT FRIDAY?!?! :O :O :O IT'S TRUE!

Jack Arnold

Netflix... ??? I'm veggie, so...

Crushbot (security*)

They're watching North by Northwest and eating shrimp scampi. Can't wait until next Friday!

Meisterj

Shrimp scampi. Movie: Shawshank redemption: the record scene. Or, lethal weapon. Those are v different movies

Kama Miller

I remember Mama with Ingrid Bergman, the scene where she's sweet talking the writer; and I'm thinking shrimp scampi as well

dcorsetto

I've never seen either movie! Just found it on Netflix (hello, I am new to Having A Netflix Account) and added both of those. Thanks Jasmine! (Thanks especially for the link!)

Pavel Curtis

Casablanca: "Here's lookin' at you, kid!" in Paris!

dcorsetto

Ahahaha!! I only saw that movie once or twice as a kid, and legitimately forgot about that scene! Thanks!

Meisterj

Yw. I love Shawshank, I first saw it on TCM with my mom with a million commercials and I fell in love with it then. I haven't watched it in years but the record player scene is such a great moment. If you get the chance to watch I hope you enjoy it,

David Zona

Watching Groundhog Day. A modern Classic.

David Zona

Eating - shrimp cocktail. Food eaten with your hands is inherently interesting and a subject for conversation.

Amy Crook

Watching: Indiana Jones, either running from the giant boulder, or for gross-out fun, the melting Nazis... Eating: honey walnut prawns (mmm, Chinese food)

David Akers

Watching the Dick Van Dyke Show! When Laura is coming out of the closet on a wave of walnuts!

Matthew Welmers

Movie: Forrest Gump scene: bubba and forrest cleaning the floor with tooth brushes talking about shrimp

Deb with the purple bike

Watching: episodes of Leverage! There's even an episode with a running gag about shrimp and accents (Although start with this bit with Parker and the hipster Portland donuts https://youtu.be/XMkjnvbXaXI?t=175 -- the shrimp stuff follows). Eating: Goi cuon (Vietnamese shrimp & pork spring rolls), with hoisin sauce and peanut sauce for dipping. Mmmm, allergens...

Ines Petersen

Take a movie that most of the world would know (more fun for us foreign readers). The Shining? And: Tempura Shrimps?

Sarah Manx

"Classic Netflix" makes me think of some of the first original shows they put out, so I'll go with season 1 of Orange is the New Black. :) And for shrimp, let's go with shrimp scampi, because you can never have too much butter & garlic in a meal!

dcorsetto

I don't remember that scene in Casablanca at all but it makes me wanna rewatch it! Also never seen The Philadelphia Story. Thank you for the clips!

dcorsetto

Omg I'd never heard of this before but now I wanna watch the whole thing! Thank you!

Margaret Oliver

I would bet money it's not actually on Netflix but it has been released on DVD since this clip was posted on YouTube. It's a fabulous movie and Elaine May makes a great awkward botanist.

Bruce Shipman

There are lots of good scenes in both movies. "The Philadelphia Story" is amazingly amusing, even after 80 years. IT was nominated for (I think) 6 Oscars, and won two of them. If you'd prefer a musical version, MGM remade it in the mid-50s as "High Society" with Bing Crosby in the Cary Grant role, Frank Sinatra in the Jimmy Stewart role, and Grace Kelly playing the socialite. . Here's a clip: https://youtu.be/x65-nLCBouE. I love both of the, although if I'd have to pick only one to rewatch it's be the 1940 one. I recommend both to you. :)

Morgan Ferguson

1. Going back to some classic romcoms and sitcoms 😂 Drive Me Crazy for the movie, Chuck and Eureka for TV shows 2. No shrimp, thank you. I don't eat things that poo on me while trying to prepare them (sorry to be crass!)

Traveller X

Watching Classic Netflix: The Expanse has become a long running Sci Fi show rather than Netflix series. Catching up on the last season

Traveller X

Eating coconut and sweet chilli King Prawns

Jeanne Muir

Watching The Frontier, with Jason Momoa, but cannot recommend it other than that.

Jeanne Muir

eating Shrimp Pad Thai from Kome

dcorsetto

Hahaha JEANNE!! It's great to have a local in here, welcome!

LOVED Leverage and they are bringing it back! Just replacing Timothy Hutton for Noah Wyles. My favorite scene is between Parker and Elliott when the CEO of a company is a major SETI nerd and they have to fake a close encounter and Parker just starts messing with Elliott. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5G0XsHeFWw
