If it has kale in it, be sure to add kale to it.

Thanks for being a safe place to write dumb comics like this one.

Most of my mornings this week.

After I wrote this I remembered that this wasn't the town's crew - it was the electric company's crew, and they went door to door telling us they'd be doing this... MONTHS ago.

I remember laughing and telling the guy "welp, that's four months away, no way I'm gonna remember this conversation!" and I guess I was just keeping my promise.

Here's a story about a chair!

A two-part for today, because I'm going away for the weekend, so I drew two comics this morning!

LOOK AT THE ELEVATION:

It's a little fancy for my hippie ass, but the fabric was a scrap my friend Sylvia bought at a charity auction and was waiting for someone to ask for it... and I did... so, on it went.

I'll refinish the back rest soon, since the seat was so easy to finish!

Hot tip for cutting foam: use a serrated bread knife!

Hot tip for cutting foam #2: if you don't use a bread knife because you hacked it with a dull box cutter BEFORE looking up "how to cut foam," your shitty cutting job won't show as long as the fabric is thick enough to hide it. YAY.

I used my local Buy Nothing page (the only reason I use Facebook) to ask for the foam and the fabric, btw. I can't recommend the group enough! If you're on FB, look up "Buy Nothing" and see if there's one in your area. It's changed the way I feel about "possessing" the items you "own," and fed my urge to never let a piece of trash go to waste if it can be salvaged.

And I like that one of the most important pieces of furniture in my studio cost me... a few staples.

Pip as a brick killed me. I used to sleep on my back with my legs slightly parted, and my cat would jump up and fall asleep between them. It was more comfortable than being forced onto my side.

Honestly, buy nothing groups might be the only reason I would get back on Facebook. I've managed to make due with the local FreeCycle.org group thankfully.

YES!! If I can manage to get my leg around him (he WILL NOT MOVE), I usually resort to that stance! It's the only way. Sigh.

dcorsetto

It's the only way I allow myself to access Facebook! I have a bookmark for the group, plus the added navigation at the end of the group URL: ?sorting_setting=CHRONOLOGICAL That way I see everything in order. And that is the ONLY way I experience Facebook. The way it oughtta be.

I'm right there with you when it comes to having a cat sleep on my bed!!!! My cat will swat at my face if I am sleeping on my side so I will turn on to my back and he can either lay on my chest or sleep between my legs against my crotch. I don't like sleeping on my back. And my near 40 year old knees don't like being kept apart when laying on my back either.

I got my cats a heating pad each (made for cats! cat safe!) and thus they have their 1/3 of the bed and i have my 2/3 to actually sleep on. However, any sign of waking will result in having my hand/arm/face licked until i pet them, so...

A few years ago, I finally said "enough is enough" and splurged $500 on the kind of ergonomic office chair that a Real Adult would have at their desk. It's a refurb: when it was new, it cost close to a grand. AND YET it isn't as comfortable as the $5 thrift store classroom chair -- which isn't even PADDED -- that it was meant to replace. It's not UNcomfortable. But it's been relegated to the smaller desk that I sit at when I'm podcasting, and that houseguests use when they have a Zoom meeting during their visit.

Hahaha hoooly shit I'll be looking that UP!!

During the nice weather I like to drive around on Sundays afternoons and pick free stuff left over from weekend yard sales. ;)

My computer is on my free secondhand kitchen table so I use a kitchen chair, which oddly seems to be better for my back than any desk chair I've ever had! The oddly problem is it's older than dirt and the glue has given out so it's held together with bungee cords!

Laura Kolker

My kid does that thing with the bed too. Oof

MaryAnne Glazar

How do cats know where the exact middle of the bed is?

Christine Slocum

I laughed very hard at the plant comic because it was a bit too relatable

Wild Card

My cat has recently started sleeping on top of me at night. You are right, I can't move with her there.

I once decided I would shower at the (free!) gym, bc free water! I stopped IMMEDIATELY once the cleaning crew LEFT THE BATHROOM DOOR WIDE OPEN stupid changing room layout: [locker area][entrance][showers]

Pull the chair apart, sandpaper the joints, use titebond glue and the bungees to hold it together while the glue sets (24 hours AT LEAST!). if the sockets have been enlarged due to wear, use wooden matches or slivers of wood to fill the gaps when you glue it. You could use epoxy if you have it with flour or sawdust to thicken it when mixed to fill the gaps. It will never wobble again (cure time is less, it will last longer but epoxy is $$$). If you want to get all fancy like Danielle, you could even put a cushion on it and cover it with fabric! Old denim holds up forever and is available at your local second hand shop or goodwill.

The yard cat comes inside when it's cold or wet, crawls in between the sheet and the blanket, when she starts getting in there, I wrap another blanket around her which keeps her off my side of the bed.

I heard about someone who would walk around her place in the all together and had someone complain about it. The lady asked the police who stopped by if they could arrest the complainer for being a peeping tom instead of someone in the privacy of their own house please? No more complaints.

This is why the cats get the downstairs at night, and we get the upstairs. I can't sleep with cathat (my neck can't handle that weight), and I don't like having 18 lbs of purr monster compressing my ribcage for hours at a time. This doesn't even take into account Gintoki's incessant need to be fed and the chirping, whining, licking, headbutting, and face whacking that would happen. Love my cats. Love my pretend-sleep even more.

At 59 and having recently had a stroke I cannot envision a less likely series of events occurring. Meanwhile I can get a package of replacement bungees at Dollar Tree when these stretch out, as I have done once before. ;)

I may have to give up and get a new (or new-to-me) office chair. My current chair is 10 years old, creaks like heck, randomly seizes when I lean back, and doesn't offer neck / head support. It doesn't owe me anything.
