We had Every Pose Is A Good Pose model tonight!

I keep altering the notes I put on my drawing board the week before; this time the advice that I "sketch out the values in the FIRST sketch for the long pose and STICK TO THEM" really struck a chord with me...

I tucked this sketch up under my watercolor block for reference:

I successfully knew when to stop on this one! No overdone shadows this time.

With a good 20 minutes left, I started up another value study, but we ended up cutting the session 10 minutes short anyway since all of us were basically done and the model's kid was texting her for Chipotle. ;)

Here are some closeups, since I really liked the colors on this one! (I cheated, btw, and photoshopped the model's hair closer to her forehead; I'd slipped when I inked it and this is what I'd meant for it to look like.)

It's late and now my brain is all full of "thinking art things", can I get to sleep, will I dream differently? Is "Chipotle" inherently funnier than "Panera Bread"? What fast food establishment is the correct place to hang out while your mom figure models?

I love how she looks so organic even with the long straight cartoon outlines, I envy your dedication to develop that!

That means a lot, Amy, thanks!!

And look at you using warm hues in the shadows again!
