Got a full week of dailies this week!

If you ordered books, check the sides for bonus lunch.

I didn't need to set an alarm that day. -_-

I had so much fun at Jamie Noguchi's signing on Sunday! It was a tiny BUT MIGHTY crowd, and several of you are here, so THANK YOU for showing up!! Jamie just posted a recording of our whole interview, which you can see here if you're a patron of his (or it might be a free post? I'm not sure!). I just watched the first minute and didn't cringe, which is why I'm sharing it. ;)

**Edit! Just found the YouTube link. Thanks, Jamie!!**

I re-wrote this like three times so I'm not sure if it makes sense, but in short: I guess cassette tapes are not the greatest quality to listen to music on? But I like the way they sound (on old car speakers) better anyway.

Thank you everyone for your orders, I ate very well this week.

Nothing like a trash nightmare to make your filthy home feel less filthy.

The only way I can suppress that ego is by drawing or drinking. Even better if it's both.

I'm shipping out the last of your orders TODAY, and then... cleaning my house. Happy weekend to all of you!

Oh the throwing up cat is soo familiar. And don’t do it there

Christina

LOL @ the creative packaging

Jamie Noguchi

Thanks for letting me drag you to the big city!!!! HUGE indeed!!

Carmen has learned to throw up on hard surfaces only because I've moved her off the bed and rugs and stuff so many times. Only took like 14 years to teach her? Cats.

David Neale-Lorello

As a person who is actually older than cassette tapes (okay, by a year), I relate to this, although from the other direction, as, for me, CDs were a revelation: the crispness! the clarity! Now I see musicians adding digital effects (and effects-makers fighting over whose effects are the most realistic) to make nice, crisp, clear music sound like it's on a cassette. "What's the world comin' to???" (Funny aside, the pic on the Wikipedia page for cassette tape is an image of the very brand and type that was my go-to for almost all of my recording: TDK 90s. Still have a bunch of them.)

Dirk Bergstrom

I could just barely understand the resurgence of vinyl, which I always hated. But people being nostalgic for cassettes is utterly mystifying to me. Those things were just awful.

Leak

I see your fancy rich-ness did not go to your head, but rather just through it... :D

Paul W.

May you always eat well.

Miranda Schubert

I had to share your cat vomit comic with my husband... And now I have to share his reply, because it's so true (for us, at least): "more fitting would be failing at the end anyway" Just make it a sarcastic "perfect" and you'd be all set. ;)

Tudza

So when you were a girl and in to horses did you draw horses all the time? Sat next to one girl who did. She was very good at it.

Tudza

Only reason I can see is sometimes you can only get a particular audiobook on cassette. Like Stephen King reading The Gunslinger.

You still doing caricature gigs? It's definitely something that not all artists can (or should) do. I'm a vampire, so I feed off of spectator comments, but there are a couple of comments/questions that slowly kill me: "I can't even draw a stick figure" and "Where are you from?" (which they never seem to ask my white co-artists at events).

dcorsetto

I was either drawing horses, or acting like a horse, at basically ALL TIMES.

dcorsetto

Uuugghhh you're right, we DON'T get that question! My triggers are the typical "But SHE doesn't have a MUSTACHE!" and similar "clever" comments. Which tend to come from, I would guess, the same kind of people who ask you where you're from: old white dudes.

Eric Rahm

I totally feel the Pip one. That is a common nighttime adventure at my house 🤬😻

Katherine

My package came wrapped in old GWS comics! I loved it.

allanfranta

Oh, I remember 8-tracks and quadraphonic sound, in my little VW microbus back in the day...

allanfranta

oh, I got my goodies and now I can reply! Danielle did the BESTEST job on the packaging! Makes me smile every time I look at it! (Yes I didn't throw it away, it's too damn cute!)

dcorsetto

I knew you'd like that leftover rice, Allan! ;)

Minzoku Bokumetsu

"Insurance bill lol, thanks for the identity theft toolkit!" D= (just saying as a possibility, not that I got it)

Minzoku Bokumetsu

yay mobile ignores the "Shift + Return/Enter"... anyway, I had a Walkman and would listen to Hole and got surprised when I finally changed the batteries, and Courtney's voice got a LOT higher and faster--FUN TIMES!

Actually it’s a question I’ve gotten from women and those of other skin colors too, unfortunately.

Tim Pendergast

Being left alone was also my chief childhood goal. At 60 I have nearly perfected it. Speaking of being 60, the cassette strip reminds of talking with my older friends about mono vs. stereo. I stopped having the vinyl vs CD talks a long time ago. ;)

Zombicatures by Stan Yan

I used to get that question once a gig, but maybe people are learning. I haven’t been asked that in a couple years, but I still get the stick figure one every time 😂

Hildydoo

Your Friday dailies are the highlight of my week! Makes me wish I had the ability to keep a habit every week. I’d love to be able to draw/write every day, but my neurospicy mind is just like “nope.”

Lisa

I love the trash dream one. Nothing like perspective.

Dirk Bergstrom

We had a used quadrophonic system in one of the bedrooms in the '70s. Pretty sure we only had two speakers for it. At some point I hooked up another pair just to play around, but I'm pretty sure I didn't actually have a quadrophonic record to play on it.

NJGR

Damn, now I want a rotisserie chicken. Multiple meal wonders, those babies are. - - Neal

Amy Crook

food rich IS the best rich...now i wanna make chicken broth out of rotisserie bones (and then soup from the meat + broth)

Boum

The other day, my cat climbed on me and didn't even give me the "hurk" warning and thew up in my neck, unannounced.

Theadora

Ooooh I bet she learned way quicker than that; she's just turned it into a sport. "Welcome to 'Barf or Shift? Which comes first!?'" ;-)

Amy ☣

I just told her that you've accused her of this and asked if it was true. She just purred. To be fair I was also petting and kissing her as I asked.

Boum

Alas. I was in bed, too.

Scott Bieser

"Drawing with an audience" brought to mind my salad days in Austin doing caricatures on East 6th Street. It was the first time in my life I actually made a (very modest) living with my art. I quickly learned to ignore the bystander commentary without being obvious about it, so as not to seem rude. I'd respond with a soft "uh-hmm" or "thanks" when appropriate. (These days I still make a very modest living but my parents tried to warn me.)
