We managed to start the year with a session on the very first Wednesday!

Now that I'm consistently working in watercolor, we're continuing the five-minute warmups followed by one long pose. I dunno if I'll ever want to go back to short poses, I love this format so much.

(Until someone invites me to one of those fast-paced animator-targeted sessions with the 10- and 30-second poses *smacks lips like a gesture-drawing freak*)

Five minute poses!

And some quicker pencil sketches of the final pose:

I couldn't figure out what direction I wanted to go with this one, but I wanted it to be different than my usual approaches (NEW YEAR NEW ME, BABY), so instead I decided to just fill the whole paper end-to-end with her body.

Kinda forgot about that one entire hand and thigh, there! I got some shapes in last-minute for the final piece:

For last-minute, I think that previously-empty hand came out kinda nice! The Inktense colors are really pulling through in those rich shapes you see - the paler, more subtle colors are from my very grown-up Prang watercolor set that I use as a default kit.

Oh, and I'm using this delicious skinny brush pen for my lines, here.

One last close-up, because I was happy the little rainbow of colors that showed up here:

Fingers crossed we'll get back on this weekly figure drawing horse for good from here out!

I'm sorry. I know this is all second hand to you, but the fact that people can take some lines and colors and make something that so much looks like a person is just magic to me. Like the green ... What the hell is the green doing there? Was she green? Probably not, but take it in context with the other colors and the white space and the shading -- it just works. I don't know ... magic.

It's only becoming second-hand to me now, after making myself do it! Believe me, it's still magic to me, too. :) Thank you, Clinton.

I love it, it's so great! I think I like this color set more than the yellow-heavy ones you were using, in a "less jaundiced" sort of way. XD that red rimlight is really great with the green pops of shadow!
