Hey everyone! Another exciting week coming up full of powerhouse moments, big feelings, and some long-awaited entries!! Let's dive in: ✨ Battlestar Galactica - Season 1 | Episode 1After that incredible Miniseries (which, yes, I did rewatch over the weekend lol), I am so ready to dive into this journey with you all! Let's gooooo🕷️ Black WidowWe're back in the MCU! After WandaVision, I've been itching for another Marvel movie, and this feels like the perfect way to jump back in with the legend herself. I know this one is out of order from the actual release timeline, but with the delays due to the pandemic, watching it now apparently makes more sense as a ton of you all have pointed out to me! Thank you all! 🎟️ Gifted | Movie Ticket Pick by WillI'm kinda emotionally bracing for this one just based on the poster alone lol. I have a feeling it's going to go straight for my heart (and probably win). But with Chris Evans in the mix, I'll take whatever pain this movie dishes out hahaha🌌 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes BackAaaand with that title alone, I'm here for this next movie!! Vader's obviously back, and something tells me he's not holding anything back this time. I cannot wait to jump into this chapter with you all!☣️ The Last of Us - Season 2 | Episode 4Okay, I admit it. I wasn't really sure about Episode 3 going in. But WOW- This season has me in a chokehold now. I'm glued to my seat every week and loving every second of this story!Looking ahead: 🗳️ Movie Poll coming next week! Keep your eyes out for what we'll jump into next!🎟️ Movie Tickets are wrapping up in 2 weeks. If you've been wanting to grab one, they'll be back up for sale around the last week of May or first week of June. I'll post more info then!Thank you all for being here on this wild, beautiful journey with me. I'm super grateful to be watching all of these with YOU! 🌼 Kali

That's a good list. It's going to be a good week!

Really excited for your watch! I somehow forgot that you recommended a Chris Evans movie and I was VERY pumped when I saw the movie cover 👀✨

KJ

I've never watched Gifted and don't know much about it, but I can watch through Disney. I think it's also on Hulu. Looking forward to Black Widow - Florence Pugh steals the show imo.

SultanOfSwing

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but I would recommend looking away from the screen when the drums start on the Battlestar Galactica intro. It is a "coming up on this episode" montage and can get a little spoilery.

Code Monkey

Thanks for putting Galactica back on my radar. I forgot just how good the show was (both story and production quality) until I re-watched the mini series. It will be fun to take this journey again! I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere but I'll say it again; There was an original Battlestar Galactica series from the 70's. If I recall correctly, the cylons it featured were the robot looking cylons from the new series. Anyway, can't wait to get started!

Code Monkey

Good call Mr. Knopfler. :)

Ciarra Jade

Ooo this is gonna be a fun week for me . I’ve never seen battlestar galatica before so I’m excited to watch it blindly with you 🥳

Russell Rutigliano

You can see the old (1978) Cylon models a couple times throughout the Mini-Series. The two most notable ones are at the beginning when the Colonial officer is killed on that space station (He looks at a piece of paper that has the 1978 model on it) and then again about halfway through when they are brining the extra ships from the hangar bay to the launch pad you see a 1978 Cylon model displayed in a case.

Russell Rutigliano

A few of us have brought that up to Kali and the consensus (from what I’ve seen) on if she should watch once the drums hit is split down the middle. So I think it makes the most sense for Kali to watch the one that happens in episode 1 and let her decide going forward if she wants to watch those “Get you hype intro” segments before the episode starts.

kaliwali

Let's go! Glad you're excited for this journey!! I watched the Introduction on YouTube of the OG Battlestar Galactica and for a split-second thought maybe I should start there.. But maybe eventually it would be a fun re-visit or watch on my own time kinda thing. Either way, really looking forward to this!!

kaliwali

Let's gooo! I'm excited, too!

Russell Rutigliano

Make sure you’ve watched the mini-series watch along that came out last week or you will be a tiny bit confused when season 1 starts

Russell Rutigliano

So yeah I think you should watch the “get you hype intro” for BSG at least once and see if you wanna watch them going forward. Imho they are not very spoilery cause they are images out of context. It’s easy enough to know when to look away though. Once you see Grace Park’s name pop up the Drums start right after and that’s when the “get you hype intro” begins.

Such a stacked week coming! Can't wait to dive into BSG season 1! Also, really loved Black Widow. I went into it completely blind and with no expectations, and had a great time with it!

FigLeaf Bicarbonate

Hey Kali, Quick question, when do you think you'll get into the original Spider-Man movies?

Richard

Ooh me excite! You'll love Empire and probably Black Widow too. As someone with a sister, it'll probably speak to you. Regarding phase 4, a few weeks ago you said that finding the good in things was both your blessing and curse - I think it's mostly a blessing! Who wants to be negative all the time?

Onno Smits

Gifted is a great pick! And Black Widow is gonna be awesome. 😊

Wil Castillo

You're gonna love it. Bring tissues.

Lastboyscout73

With a title like gifted and having my favorite Captain America in it (Chris Evans) I had to look up the trailer. Mckenna Grace is a great young actor. Can't wait for you to see Black Widow and also BSG, going to be a good week. Almost forgot Empire! lol

Joe

An exciting week for sure! I will echo what others said on the previews for BSG. I think it personal preference and you should probably try both approaches and see what works for you, especially as a reactor. From my perspective when I originally watched, I enjoyed the show more when I did not watch the intro. I just felt it gave too much away even if it is brief images.

Tim C

I would say go with what feels right as a reactor for sure. But I disagree with calling the montage a "spoiler". It's part of the show experience, curated and edited by the creators the same as any scene in the show. It was present the first time these episodes ever aired, and serves a specific purpose. A show like BSG derives a large part of its energy by "priming" the viewer. Sometimes the montage is a misdirect, sometimes it's a reminder, sometimes it sets a mood, and sometimes it's just to get the viewer jazzed up for what's coming. But whether you watch it or not, it's not a "spoiler", as that's a reveal of information to a viewer that they shouldn't have yet. The montage isn't that. It's exactly what the writers wanted the viewer to see when they see it. To me, skipping it is kinda like holding your breath when you enter a bakery to avoid being "spoiled" on how delicious the bread will be when you eat it. Also, I could only think of food-related metaphors because I'm hungry and it's lunch time. :D

Hey! So right after Black Widow I plan on jumping into Loki Season 1, then afterwards watching Spider-Man 2002. I may watch the other ones consecutively afterwards, but someone gave me an awesome timeline recommendation to watch the X-Men (2000) movie after Spider-Man (2002). I might watch a few more X-Men films lumped in but then come back to Phase 4 with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Shang-Chi, Loki Season 2, What If...? and then jump into Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. I know it seems a bit all over the place (because it is haha) but I've had awesome people behind the scenes that have lived and breathed the MCU and X-Men world helping me out to get the best viewing experience but also stick with the timeline! Since it's so complicated, I think I'll make a visual chart up for you all sometime soon to give you all an idea of my MCU/X-Men journey going forward since it does get a bit confusing (even for me!)

Paul Wright

The visual chart would help immensely, but this sounds very exciting. Looking forward to your Marvel journey 😀
