Hey everyone! First off, I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for the hiccups last week. Between me accidentally choosing the wrong version of Aliens (I know a few of you even warned me!) and then trusting YouTube TV to give me a "good free version" of A Few Good Men (spoiler: I guess cussing is important to get the point across sometimes lol), it was a bumpy ride. And I know you all felt that. Despite all of it, I hope you still enjoyed my reactions! Going forward, I'll only ever buy or rent a legit copy and keep way better notes on versions and cuts. Thank you all so much for being patient and understanding with me. You all make this community feel like home even when I'm fumbling around over here. I seriously appreciate that!🍿 Here's what's coming this week!

Andor | Season 1 Episodes 11 & 12 (Season Finale!)You all know how much I have absolutely loved my time in this series so far. I can't wait to sit down with this season finale! But I'm also panicking that it's already over lol

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Our next stop in my 'Superhero Odyssey'! If you keep checking back to that post, I'll keep updating it btw. So if you still see anything out of place, let me know!

The Sting (1973)To honor the passing of Robert Redford today, we'll be diving into this classic. Many of you recommended this after my Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid reaction, so I can't wait to finally watch it!

Monty Python and the Holy GrailFinally giving in to the most recommended comedy since I started reacting. I don’t know what to expect, but I’ve been told repeatedly I’ll be laughing till it hurts?!I'm definitely looking forward to a lighter, funnier week before we jump fully into the spooks starting next week! I hope you all are too! 👻📌 Important and Not So Important Updates:🚀 Battlestar Galactica: After a lot of thought, I've decided to take a short break from Battlestar Galactica. I've been having to edit the YouTube episodes myself lately, so they have been falling more and more behind. This is also my first longer multi-season series, and I think mentally having a little refresher to pause during the fall will help me avoid possible burnout. I hope nobody is too disappointed with this decision. I just don't want to end up feeling burnt out watching a show that I genuinely love and want to give the best attention to! I promise when I'm ready to jump back in, I'll sound the bell. So say we all! ✨📖 Hobbit Side Quest: Last week, I finally started reading The Hobbit! If anyone here is into Tolkien, I'd love to share some notes as I go. I'm not sure how chat works on Patreon, but I think I may look into creating a chat channel just for this journey if anyone is interested. Let me know if you'd be into this and I'll get it started!👻 Spooky Poll Reminder: This poll is SO close. And between three movies! I'm already biting my nails wondering what chaos I'll have to unleash if a three-way tie occurs lol. If you haven't' voted yet, the poll ends TOMORROW at 7PM EST!Thank you all again for being the best cozy fellowship I could ask for. Your love, support, and patience through all the hiccups means the world to me. It's hard to imagine that I haven't even hit a full year here on Patreon yet! But our cozy corner keeps getting bigger and I couldn't say thank you enough to all of you amazing story lovers for making this space possible. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead! 🩷

Omg Monty Python is hilarious

Dude Longcouch

No apologies needed, things happen and it's not a big deal. Learning experiences are always good! Friendly reminder that the final episode of Andor has a post-credits scene!

kaliwali

Thanks for the friendly reminder! I'll definitely keep an eye out for it! I'm not ready for the end of Season 1 already tho lol

Urfhil

Another great week ahead! Looking forward to all of these!

Mark Messer

Dont feel bad about last week. The reactions were still great! Both versions of Aliens are great. And i dont blame you for the Few Good Men. It seems to be quite difficult to find a version of that to stream right now. I didn’t even have the option to rent it on Amazon. For some reason it’s purchase only there.

Fettmatic

No problem. I mostly own all the phyiscal copies to your reactions on here.

JESSEMLR1

SPIDER VERSE! 😭💯

kaliwali

That's what made me turn to YouTube TV! Normally I just rent them on Amazon, but the "buy only" option made me make the grave mistake to trust YouTube TV haha 😮‍💨

kaliwali

I'm thinking of starting up a physical collection! Streaming services have been too all over the place for me. I know come the holidays they're going to take all the holiday movies off and make you buy the digital copy lol.. Happens every holiday

Chris

Yesssss!

Mark Messer

If you ever run into the same problem in the future, using a VPN is probably a good way to get around that. I havent actually used one before so I wouldn’t know a good one to recommend but I’m sure there’s some good info out there.

kaliwali

I keep hearing about getting a VPN so I'll give it a try! I actually had NordVPN reach out to me to sponsor a video but I didn't know enough about it so I didn't go for it lol. Maybe I should have (or I can reach back out 😅)

kaliwali

Yes! One taker on the Tolkien journey ✨ I'm only one chapter in, but I plan on sitting down more seriously this week on my day off to really dive into it! I love it so much so far. I'm excited for everything this week, too! And I know it's really hard to believe that the end of Andor Season 1 is already here.. Time flies when you're really enjoying a series and look forward to it every week 😅🩷

Jake Steffen

Understand on the BSG, gives me time to catch back up, haha

Chris

One thing for Monty Python--it's a comedy troupe, so don't be confused you'll see actors playing multiple characters (and sometimes men (badly, intentionally) portraying women). It's the best. Good week top to bottom. "It was a hobbit hole. And that means comfort." There's a strain of folks who crap on Tolkien as a prose stylist. I think those folks are nuts.

Lars G

If you’re interested in Robert Redford, Three Days of the Condor is so good. Spy Games is fun too.

SultanOfSwing

Darn, was really looking forward to Battlestar this week. Understand though. Hope it isn't too long a break 🤞

Phil Stubblefield

I second *both* of Chris's comments! Grail = hysterical! Tolkien bashers = lame! 😁

Simon

Can def recommend Spy Game as good Robert Redford/Brad Pitt movie.

McShades

no worries about Battlestar, I mean we all got a year to rest up between seasons... So yeah I could see where you could get possible burnout watching it so fast. You should probably wait like a month or two before starting Andor Season 2... IMO, you need more comedies between these more serious movies.. R.I.P. The OG Robert Redford, you'll be missed Sundance...

Phil Stubblefield

First, my heart was immediately warmed when I saw The Sting on your watch list! ❤️ What a fantastic way to remember the great Robert Redford. Rest in Peace, Sundance! 🥲 Second, a huge "Yes!" on the Tolkien side trip! I haven't read The Hobbit in a while, so I'd love to reread it again and share notes. A separate Patreon chat for that purpose sounds like a great idea. "The road goes ever on and on." Third... a Grrrail! I'm so excited! Just remember that it's very silly British humour (spelled with a second "u"). Think "Airplane!" with lots of different accents! 😂 And, Kali: don't apologize! Every time you make a mistake it's "Sorry this" and "Forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy". 🤣 (You'll understand the joke by the end of the week...)

McShades

I mostly buy physical copies on eBay for cheap (especially the older movies) and then rip them to my Media Center Hard Drive. I did invest into a Disc cleaner in case the movie I buy has scratches on it, works great... I actually have like 20+ boxes full of Blu-Ray movies... But it's nice to have all my movies on my computer which I can just scroll through and easily watch...

Richard

My timing is bad, this got posted right after I headed home from work. Great schedule!! I loooove it when you throw surprises in! Feel free to do that often haha. Another comedy - Looking forward to lots of Kali laughs, one of my favorite medicines! Looks like I’ll have to start reading The Hobbit so I can participate in the chat! It will be as fresh to me as it is to you. FYI, the best courtroom drama I ever saw was Witness for the Prosecution (the OG one). Keeps you guessing until the last second with who is actually guilty or innocent with constant twists. Just putting it here because I missed putting it in the A Few Good Men thread. 👍

Daniel Morgan

Only if you want, you can just see both post credits of Venom 1 right before Venom 2, since you're caught up there anyways. Even if it's off screen. (Cause honestly I forgot there were two credit scenes.) And, oh geez. Just realized Mr bad guy from Captain America 2 has passed. 😭😭 Rip Robert.

Brian

Big YES for a Tolkien chat channel! Haven't read The Hobbit in a long time, but I have read LOTR several times. It would be a joy to have discussions about this world!

Nick

Down for Tolkien chat! Great schedule!

Chris

Redford was actually a hell of a director, too, btw. Ordinary People and Quiz Show are both top tier films. Former won Best Picture, and the latter had the misfortune of sharing a year with Gump, Pulp Fiction, and Shawshank.

TheGuy

The YouTube TV version was fine—not perfect, but perfectly acceptable. The story remained unchanged, so it’s not like watching the uncut version would reveal anything mind-blowing. In my opinion, the differences between the versions of Aliens aren’t all that significant either. Extended, directors, or special cuts are usually a bit better, but only a few make a really profound impact. Keep in mind, the theatrical cut is what made the movie successful enough to deserve further releases, with a few exceptions you'll probably run into, like on your way through the DC universe. Both reactions were great.

Lastboyscout73

Oh wow, The Holy Grail? Didn't assume that was on your radar yet. It has so many quotable lines and when I was a teen, I watched that movie so many times I could quote them all and so could my friends. British humor can be tricky but it's really funny if you just sit back and enjoy it. I look forward to that reaction specifically this week!

TheGuy

I second the comedies thing. I sometimes feel sorry for relatively new reactors. We can be pretty ruthless just throwing them straight into decades worth of the most heart wrenching stuff out there. I also agree about taking a break sometimes. Something I heard another popular reactor say recently in the intro to Batman VS Superman made me think about how much they absorb and how fast. They were chatting about Batman as they cued up the video and she said she couldn't remember anything about the Dark Knight movies that she had reacted to. That made me sad.

TheGuy

Based on other reactors I've seen, I would add one thing to the Holy Grail advice, start paying attention to everything immediately after you press play!

Robert da Spruce

Wait. What? The Aliens reaction has some technical glitches too? 😉 I haven’t had a chance to watch that one yet. But I appreciate the heads up Seriously though, you really don’t need to continue to apologize. As soon as you recognized there was an issue, you did your best to rectify the situation. And gave everyone a proper heads up to they would know what to expect That’s all we can ask of anyone. And certainly more than many people would do Looking forward the next installment of Andor. Also excited about Into the Spiderverse!

Wil Castillo

Robert Redford was such a wonderful person with an amazing talent, definitely a huge loss. I'm glad that you'll be watching The Sting to honor him by. I've enjoyed all the movies that I've seen him in: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All the President's Men, The Last Castle, Spy Game and the recent Marvel Movies. I'd also been enjoying 'Dark Winds' lately, from executive producers George R.R. Martin (author of Game of Thrones and the late and great Robert Redford. RIP 🙏

Richard

Yes Kali, we are your humble peasants, no need to apologize but we appreciate the humility. 😃

RP

My biggest recommendation for Robert Redford is Avengers: Endgame. Ha just kidding, It would be All the President’s Men. A true story and fascinating glimpse of how journalism used to work, for better or worse. Honourable mention to Spy Game. 🍻

RP

PS-(I would pay money to watch you rewatch Endgame) 🍻

McShades

I don't think there is any issues with Aliens, I think it's just some viewers wanted her to watch the extended version of Aliens... There's nothing wrong with the theatrical release, it's still very good... It's not like Snyder's DC Films where you pretty much have to watch the Directors Cuts because the Theatrical releases don't make any sense because Snyder doesn't know how to make a story fit in a 2 hour film... lol

M1 Maz

I love how much variety is coming this week! And can't wait to see how Andor ends

kaliwali

Aww good! Yeah I noticed a lot of people fell behind during Season 2 so I'm glad now everyone can catch back up before I start up Season 3!

kaliwali

Thank you so much for the kind words! Last week felt a bit bumpy, but you helped me look at it differently 🩷 And Aliens was just a mixup between Directors cut and Theatrical cut! I know I got a few warnings, but I forgot about them by the time I finally sat down to watch the sequel lol

Glen Roberts

Just throwing in a plug for The Expanse. While I enjoyed BSG, The Expanse is a much superior show in the writing and especially in character development (almost as good as LotR in this regard). The reason that it doesn't do great in polls is because the show originally aired on The Scifi Channel and then taken over by Amazon, so it never reached the broader audience who mostly watch mainstream channels. Having some knowledge of your tastes, I'm sure you would love this show as many of the top reactor channels already have. i would have to rank this show as my favorite sci-fi show and possibly favorite of all the genres.

Scott S

IIRC The Expanse was a close 2nd on the shows list poll, and hope to have her watch this series too. Perhaps after BSG wraps up.

Ron A

a little sad that we dont get Battlestar galactica season 3, but i understand if you feel a little burnout.. i will return as a patron when you continue.. hope you are doing well

kaliwali

Yeah, I think a break was a bit needed for me! I didn't want to get burnt out and this is one of the longest shows I've reacted to so far. With all the spooky movies this month, I thought it would be good to take a small break! But I'll be coming back with Season 3 in November :) Thank you for understanding!
