This movie had me dyyyyyying laughing 😹 It was such a chaotic wild ride and honestly, I had so much fun watching it! I went into this already very hyped up because I knew the cast was absolutely stacked! And they did NOT disappoint. It felt like every time a new character popped up, I was thinking, "Wait! They're in this too!?"Ben Still was absolute chaos, Jack Black fully committed to his jellybeans, Robert Downey Jr. is the only one who could roll the dice on this role and come out with a critical hit 😅🤣 and Tom Cruise is what sent this movie into straight comedy gold for me personally! Watching him be absolutely unhinged and dancing to apple bottom jeans sent me to a place I'll never come back from LOL. I'm sure this movie had to stir up some conversations when it first came out, but honestly, I couldn't stop laughing at how unhinged and satirical it all was!I think what I loved the most was how committed everyone was to their performances. Absolutely fearless to act completely wild and unhinged. Nobody held back and that really made the whole movie feel so much bigger, louder, and funnier! It made me appreciate how much talent it takes to pull off a comedy that is both self-aware and outrageous. Thank you all for the recommends on this one! I wanted to see it for the cast, but I ended up locked in with its pure ridiculousness. Definitely a memorable comedy and one I'll throw on again when I need a good laugh 🤣 What comedy should we watch now!? Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿LINK: https://youtu.be/B5twwPOOnocI watched this on Amazon Prime (with my Paramount+ subscription)

Pretty crazy huh? 🤣 RDJ in blackface is just so over the top, but like you said everyone was on point. Can’t wait to laugh with you. Next comedy - more Jack Black in School of Rock! Don’t forget to check your emails at some point, apparently you are starting to become pretty famous 😉

Robert da Spruce

I doubt this movie could be made today. But it is comedy gold! 🤣 Looking forward to your reaction Kali!

AdmiralZhou

Yesss this movie is my all time favorite comedy. Never fails to make me laugh 🤣

KJ

Next comedy? I think it's finally time... Spaceballs!

Nina

When I saw it in the cinema people did not recognize Tom Cruise. Everyone in the theater gasped when his name came up in the credits. It was incredible. I love TC so much. As always he gave 110%

SultanOfSwing

One of the best all time comedies. Bar none.

Nina

One of the most intelligent satires ever made. It's pure brilliance.

Digital Droo

You know, I get enjoyment here just reading the movie reviews. The actual reaction videos are a bonus.

Chris

boiz, Standard/Theatrical Release ~1h46m

kaliwali

It's sooooo funny! 🤣😮‍💨

Nina

People spoiled that Tom Cruise is in this??? That's too bad. He wasn't in the trailer or promos. So most people didn't know and didn't even recognize him until the end. Most reactors didn't know. Which is always the funniest part of the reaction when they see his name at the end credits.

kaliwali

I've been wanting to watch School of Rock! Another on my soon comedy radar hehe

kaliwali

definitely could not be made today 🤣🤣😭 but I absolutely loved it & thought it was hilarious lol

kaliwali

It's SO funny hahaha. Enjoy! 🤣

kaliwali

I think at one point I was wheezing 🤣

kaliwali

What!! It definitely looks nothing like him hahaha. The voice immediately got me tho! I guess bc i'm coming off 3 Tom Cruise films recently 🤣😭

Wil Castillo

I think the next comedy we watch should be: Spaceballs! Before the next one after that comes out: Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money By the way, Tropic Thunder reminds me of another movie: The Three Amigos You should watch it whenever you get a chance. It's hilarious!

Nina

RDJ got an oscar nomination for that role. He wasn't canceled because he didn't do blackface. He played a character that did blackface. That's different. Like he said: He's a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude. One of the funniest performances ever. Ben Stiller said if he had made this movie today, he would've made it exactly the same. But yeah nobody makes good comedys like this anymore. But I love watching reactions to it, everyone is laughing their asses off. It actually aged very well, Hollywood just doesn't have the balls to make a movie like this anymore. Everything is offensive nowadays. TC wore a fat suit. Look at that hairy chest. 😂😂 He knew Ben Stiller and they talked about making a movie and he wrote the role for him and TC said that he "wanted to dance and have fat hands"

Digital Droo

“Lance” was played by Lance Bass, who was in NSYNC. That might be where you recognize him.

Onno Smits

School of Rock is awesome! Great comedy that has stood the test of time. My favourite Jack Black role is in "The Holiday" (2006). Maybe one for Christmas if Kali hasn't seen it yet? 🤔

Onno Smits

Your journey through Tom Cruise's career is absolutely buck-wild, I love it! Once you get around to the Mission Impossible movies (someday 🤞), that type of role will feel like the exception to you, instead of his actual bread-and-butter. 🤣

Nina

I love how they referenced Dustin Hoffman winning an oscar for "Rain Man". Tom Cruise is in that movie as well. 💖 It's one of my favorites. I think Tom gave an even better performance than Dustin Hoffman. It's so good. I hope you gonna react to it someday.

Lastboyscout73

This movie is definitely a product of its time and you couldn't do it now-a-days but with that being said, it is one of the funniest movies of that era. If you look at the over arcing story, it's a parody of the movie business and how ridiculous it can be. Also, yes Tom Cruise only agreed to do this movie if he could have fat hands and dance. Ben Stiller actually asked him to play the Tug Speedman role but he thought playing a parody of a movie mogul would be a lot more fun. They were prosthetics and it's great to see him play such a comedic role. I kind of wish he would of done more comedy's in his career. It's sad to me that we can't laugh at ourselves anymore. I'm not insensitive to what offends people, I just think we have become a bit too thin skinned. I'm glad overall you enjoyed it, I was worried that some it would be a bit much for you but it's nice to know you have a since of humor. Another great Ben Stiller film that I highly recommend for comedy is Dodgeball. It is funny as hell and I just bet you will love it.

The adoption storylines are because it was almost "fashionable" at the time for big celebs to adopt children; often from foreign countries. Probably the most well-known adopters at the time were Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie and Madonna/Guy Ritchie. Since TT was satirizing most of Hollywood culture of the period, the adoption thing was an easy swing. Also, if you didn't catch it while editing, the Lance you recognized at the end was Lance Bass of NSYNC. And Tom Cruise's fat suit included arm and hand prosthetics.

M1 Maz

This was absolutely wild LOL. And I loved it! Literally 90 minutes of constant laughing hahaha. RDJ stole the show for sure! As you said, the *commitment* to the role, and I think just seeing him in a comedy for the first time just sent me. "I'm a led farmer!" hahaha Tom Cruise might have been the best in this tho. It's worked out so well that you started watching some of his films before getting to see him here, otherwise I know his character wouldn't have been as funny LOL Oh also, the trailers for Scorcher, and just a lot of this movie in general gave me flashbacks to "Blasto" from Mass Effect! You remember the trailer of like Blasto 8 that you can listen to on the Citadel?? "Badassfully" LOL

Steve Mercier

Aaaaaaawesome! "When you wrote 'I Love Tha Pussy' was you thinking about danglin your dice on Lance's forehead?" Easily the funniest movie of the 2000's. Good shit.

Robert da Spruce

That movie was pure chaos! 🤣 I almost how insane this movie is! I still don’t know how RDJ got away with this role 😄 And Tom Cruise was hilarious! I believe he was wearing prosthetics. Especially his forearms. Oh, and the Lance at the end was Lance Bass from N-Sync btw 😄 I’m liking the comedy reactions! A few recs I think you would enjoy: Ben Stiller - There’s Something About Mary Adam Sandler - The Wedding Singer Jack Black - School of Rock and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Joe

Hilarious movie and great reaction. I think the reason RDJ got away with this was because the joke was always on his character and method actors who take themselves way too seriously. It was ridiculous for his character to do that and they called him out on it several times. He was not doing it to replace or ridicule anyone else in the context of the movie. Plus RDJ has so much earned good will that I think people were more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Ben Stiller is an incredibly talented director. He directs Severance, which is wonderful and I hope you add to the list someday. But if you are looking for another Ben Stiller starring comedy, I would recommend Zoolander.

rubberkidney

i feel like the monsters from monsters inc, your screams and crys are great but the laughs are ultra powered.

McShades

loved your reaction to this movie, this movie makes me laugh every time I see it, that part where Jack Black can't find his pistol because his butt is so big lol... Yeah back in 2008 people still had a sense of humor. Here are some of my personal comedies that I love. My 1st time watching this. I knew it was ridiculous but didn't realize it was like this. It was more than off the rails. Lol So over the top in everyway, and yes, only RDJ could get away with that role and not get canceled, especially after being Iron Man. Loved your reaction. Be all you can be 😃 You are my #1 reactor and it's not even close. ❤️ Comedy recommendation from me would be Oscar, it's not rolling on the floor, it's more subtle but one of my favorites. Star studded cast again.

Paul T

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hefty517

One of my favorites! Glad you enjoyed it.

KJ

When I first saw the Panda scene I thought I was going to die laughing 😭 BTW - RDJ did indeed do the DVD commentary in character 💀

Kenji Kita

Kali this was a blast ❤️

Kevin Mitchell

Great reaction! You should check out - There's Something About Mary, Paul and Rat Race.

kaliwali

LOL that is hilarious and I need to watch that DVD commentary

kaliwali

I didn't realize there was a Tenacious D movie! I've always just watched their music videos on YouTube and listened to them on Spotify lol. I'll have to check those out tho! Thank you!

kaliwali

I saw the cast list so yeah! But I recognized him by his voice since I've been in Tom Cruise films for 3 weeks straight now LOL

AJ

one of the better comedys ever lol , back when there was still room for non politically correct humour
