I love that these first three episodes dropped me straight back into the world of Andor without ever skipping a beat. This show always makes me forget that I'm watching 'Star Wars'. It hits more like a real living story of ordinary people fighting to survive while an Empire slowly drains the life out of them. These first three episodes showed a constant theme of putting on a happy face while your world quietly burns underneath. Everyone keeps performing these masks of normalcy. Smiling through dinner. Speaking in coded pleasantries. Keeping appearances alive. All the while they are carrying enormous private grief and fear. It hit me how universal that really is. How often do we, in our own lives, try to act like everything is just fine and keep moving forward, when inside we're burning? Andor doesn't let us look away from that in these first three episodes. Not for a single second. It forces us to sit with the tension of those unspoken truths. I walk away more in love with this show every time. You don't just watch Andor, you feel it. We are eavesdropping on the lives of people who've long been forgotten by the grand mythology of Jedi and Sith. I honestly think that's why Andor feels so different, so unforgettable. It's not about the spectacle. It's about the soul of rebellion. The cost of pretending. The cracks that form when truth demands to be seen. And now, I can't wait to get more into this Season. Yess season 2 LFG! Loved the long one shot of Mon walking down to go talk to Luthen. And no matter how much I hate Dedra, loved that scene of her standing up to Syril’s mom. And the cut to Syril lying on the bed made me laugh so hard 🤣

I've only watched this season once as it was airing, so I've been very excited to get back into it. I think this season is overall even better than 1, as evidenced in this first 3-episode chunk (with the possible exception of Cassian's plot, which felt a bit meandering to me) but just like in the first season, it's just stepping stones for even better stuff to come. Having Dedra square off with Syril's mother is not something I even knew I needed in my life, but I'm so glad it's there. And the image of him lying flat on the bed... just perfection. Everything with the wedding, and Tay Kolma, and knowing what Cinta is going to do to him. Mon Mothma also knowing, choosing to deal with it (or perhaps not deal with it) by allowing herself to be swallowed up by the party (a metaphor, perhaps, for being swallowed by the growing cacophony of the rebellion itself). The sad death of Brasso, a good man, working class, murdered by fascists. It's hard to believe that these first 3 episodes were already so good, and yet it still manages to keep getting better. I just love this show so much.

Right!? I started to hate that I loved her so much in that scene because of how much I hate her 🤣🍿 Syril crying on the bed was HILARIOUS. I was cracking myself up so much thinking about their relationship dynamic during that entire scene lol

kaliwali

I got that meandering vibe with Cassian's scene in these first episodes too. Like we get it, the rebellion is in shambles 😅🤣 But then I ended up loving it because when he finally escaped it felt so freeing. And from people on 'his own side' nonetheless.. The Deadra/Syril/Syril's mother scene absolutely sent me hahaha. I hated how much I loved Deadra in that moment, but I absolutely did 😭 Mon Mothma losing herself in the music after everything that happened at that wedding was SO deep and well done. I absolutely love her character and honestly that scene sent me back to a place I've been myself many times in my early 20's. The way that they showed a forced smile when your entire world is crumbling was brilliant and so relatable. It is hard to believe this is only the beginning!

kaliwali

I agree!!! (also, good to see you again 💖 I hope you've been well!)

I think it's funny to know that the scene with Syril lying on the bed was completely improvised by Kyle Soller (the actor that plays him) but pure genius on his part in the moment. Dedra is scary but you realized in that moment she is a product of being raised within the Imperial system. The Cassian plot was a bit wonky but it's meant to show how disorganized the rebellion was at first and also, if you didn't notice that took place on Yavin 4 an easter egg were the temples when he took off for his escape. It's showing that the Rebels have yet to settle there and make it their base and how primitive the surroundings are. Mon Mothma "losing" it and letting go went viral at the time and they put it on a loop on YouTube. People seemed to love the music in the moment as well. Genevieve O'Reilly plays Mothma with such precision and grace and her realizing what she is really involved in and the price that must be paid in that moment was very well earned. I'm glad you mentioned her wardrobe, the costume dept. always made her look extremely regal and put together. Mon's wardrobe is remarkable. Hard to believe, but the show just keeps getting better. Mon Mothma on a loop if your interested lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6wLcx7AkRM&t=140s Actually put up by the Star Wars YouTube channel!

The meeting in episode 1 was explicitly inspired by the Wannsee Conference, where the Nazis planned the final solution. Swimming in the deepest of waters (thematically) with this show, which of course becomes even clearer by episode three.

David Perkins

R.I.P. Brasso, the big man who used his strength to help those who couldn't help themselves. the very best friend one could hope to have, utterly selfless, the epitome of a gentleman. a true hero of the rebellion, you will be forever missed. stone and sky my brother.

This was such an awesome start to the season! The biggest thing I took away from these three was the emotional complexity. Not just what we feel, but what we feel and don't show to the world. That burns us from the inside while we have to go about our daily lives acting normal. And I love that we got to explore that in so many different settings here As much as I hate what Dedra stands for, I still absolutely love her character and how she's acted! She's always so sharp spoken, and present. And in control of every situation. All the while being uptight enough to be the perfect match for Syril haha. Those two 100% plan *everything* LOL

Dude Longcouch

Couldn't believe Kali came in with the spicy talk about the "planning" 😂 Really hilarious

Calu

It is my head cannon that Cinta just opened the top of the car and flipped it over letting Tay's body just drop and crash down below on some canyon between those mountains 😂😂😂

Calu

Also, a fascist government is rounding up illegal aliens and treating them like animals with no rights. That same fascist government is planning a cynical misinformation campaign to provoke a reaction from the population of a planet in order to later on justify taking over the planet by force and getting rid of all the violent people. All under the guise of bringing peace and order to the galaxy... Hmmm... Oh, sorry! I meant in the show! The Galactic Empire is doing all that! Of course I mostly meant the Galactic Empire! Mostly! 😉

BigBrain69

I've been doing alright, I am always up for some good star wars!

A lot of people take it that Tay is hinting he wants an affair with Mon. That that's his "price." I can see that. I mean who wouldn't think about that. She's amazing! But I still see it as mostly financial. He's a banker. So he's around wealth all the time, but is probably nowhere near the opulence he sees all his clients enjoying. And with his own finances going south he's trying to seize an opportunity. But Luthen's right. If they pay him off now, how will they ever be sure he won't just ask for more later or sell them out if a better offer comes. Poor Mon. Effectively losing her daughter and best friend on the same day. Yeah, I've got no sympathy for Leida. I get she's a kid and we shouldn't expect her to be emotionally mature, but that was cold! The only weakness in this arc was Cassian taken captive by that splinter group. I get the purpose was to show that the Rebellion is fractured at this point, but it just wasn't all that interesting. I guess they also needed an excuse to keep Cass off Mina Rau for a few days though. Poor Bix. Still dealing with her torture trauma, and then this piece of shit shows up. On top of that now she's lost Brasso as well. I guess stormtroopers are terrible shots except when they actually take time to aim. And yeah, Brasso was putting on a show to keep the suspicion off of Kellen there. RIP. He was a real one. Gotta say. Syril laying on the bed because he just can't deal anymore was so relatable and the highlight of this whole show for me! It's hard to believe that this show only gets better from here.

kaliwali

I love that that was improvised! It's genius and so hilarious haha. And I did notice the easter egg of it being Yavin 4! This show really puts so much love in the details. I'm not surprised Mon Mothma losing herself to the music went viral! I absolutely LOVE Genevive O'Reilly in this. Her outfits always inspire me lol. Ty for sharing the link!!

kaliwali

Oh wow! Thank you for sharing this!

kaliwali

Losing Brasso in this was so sad.. Stone and sky ✨

kaliwali

Yes, I definitely agree! They did such a good job with showing what it feels like to suffer internally while the world keeps moving along around you. Crazy how this show really does just keep getting better and better! I am both disappointed in myself and also can't stop laughing hysterically out loud that the Deadra and Syril relationship took me to those places mentally LOL. They for sure do 🤣

kaliwali

Ahhh, that absolutely stinks. I will say Brandon Roberts did not disappoint though. It hits differently, but I definitely still heard those familiar notes from season 1 and loved it!

kaliwali

Ahhh, this could actually make a lot of sense that Tay was interested in more with Mon. Looking at it from that way makes a lot more puzzle pieces fit together than simply 'you didn't say thanks enough so I'm out' I also feel you 100% on the Cassian arc throughout these three episodes. It felt really annoying (for lack of better words) to see him still stuck in the same spot while the idiots around him bickered for so long. But I totally get that it's just showing the pure chaos of the rebellion at this point and what that looks like. It's messy, frustrating, and chaotic. I hated that that happened to Bix. After everything the empire did to her already with the torture, then she has to deal with a sick dog. I love that she was able to defend herself tho. She's a tough lady. And I'm so sad about Brasso, too. He really was a real one and I'm so sad he had to go out like that. And that ENTIRE Syril/Daedra moment will forever be a top for me from this show. And that's saying something since I hate both their guts so much haha
