THIS SEASON. Honestly, best one yet. The drama is spicy, the Cylons are messy, and every episode has me wondering what bombshell I should be bracing for as we get closer to the finale. 🏹 Hawkeye Episodes 4-6 FINALEYes, I did throw in an extra episode last week! I think Andor has forever changed the way I enjoy watching shows lol. I hope these show schedules haven't been too much for you all! The holiday vibes are so great in this one though. The emotional warmth just hits. I'm excited to wrap up the mysteries and healing in this series bc I've been loving it, bro!🦸🏻 Superman: The Movie (1978)I haaaad to squeeze this one in before our MCU return. I hope you all are excited for this update. I know it's been a lot of moving around, but I've been loving it! I decided to put off X-Men for now and catch up to the MCU timeline since it feels like too long that we've put that on the backburner. I also heard that RDJ is coming back for another role in the MCU which has me feeling like we really need to catch up before that movie hits!!

See you all soon!🩷

Regarding the superhero odyssey order. It was best that you went through the X Men before the next Doctor Strange Movie, due to the references in that movie. Though it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Some references might go over your head depending on what knowledge you already have. But it shouldn’t take away from the experience of the movie overall

Morning Kali! It’s cold over here too. Well…cold for California 😊 Looking forward to some Christmas vibes with Home Alone! 🎄 It will be good to see Joe Pesci again! Or as you call him, Joe Pesky 😉 Just teasing Kali! 😊

KJ

Christopher Reeve Superman 💓

SultanOfSwing

No spoilers but I can't wait to see you watch the BSG finale.

Phil Stubblefield

Currently loving Hawkeye ❤️🏹, and I do like some of the upcoming Marvel titles, but you're really hitting the "Meh..." phase of the MCU as far as I'm concerned. 🥱 And I was really looking forward to the X-Men titles, but I can see that you're cleverly using bait-and-switch tactics just to keep me around longer. JK! 😉 You know that I would never bail on my favorite reactor! 😁

KJ

It is what it is.

Hey, Kali. It's fantastic that you're starting with Superman from '78. It's the best movie to start your adventure with this superhero (and the sequel is also good). Now I'm just waiting for you to see James Gunn's version from this year. It's a super warm and uplifting movie. Just like Donner's old movies. Looking at your Superhero Update, I'd like to ask: Is that The Batman from 2022? Because if so, that's awesome 😁

Daniel King

Awesome your gonna watch superman!!!!! And home alone, another joe pesci classic

Giancarlo Gasparin

Really looking forward to Daredevil! Agree with some of the comments saying to run through X-men before getting to Doctor Strange.

Onno Smits

I'm a completionist that can find some redeeming quality in all MCU projects. But yeah, I watched Secret Invasion once and will never watch it again. I hate that project with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.

Onno Smits

I'm so hyped you'll get around to The Holiday this year! I'll hold off on my yearly watch to do it alongside your reaction. 👀

Joe

Thanks for keeping us updated on the super hero odyssey. Of course, any version of this is not going to make everyone happy. However, as others have said, X-men stuff is starting to be more relevant for the MCU, so you may want to have them a bit earlier on the journey. Plus the characters and stories are really interesting. But with you on the journey in whatever form it takes. Also are you sure you want to subject yourself to love and thunder again?

Andy Jordan

There is no one more suited (pun intended) for a role than Christopher Reeve was for Superman. It was the first proper big-budget superhero film, where a major studio, the writers, director and everyone else involved took the subject matter/genre seriously and didn't look down on it. This was pre-CGI, but special effects technology was just becoming capable of making superhero material look real in 1978, but it wouldn't've worked if it wasn't a great story with great direction and performances. To me, it is still the gold standard for how to do a superhero film properly. And the sequel is terrific too. For context, Christopher Reeve (a Juilliard-trained stage actor who befriended Robin Williams there) was such an unknown that, despite playing the title character, he's billed third over two other more well-known actors who are in the film less than him. There's also a wonderful new documentary about Reeve called "Super/Man" worth anyone's time. Simply put, Superman: The Movie changed cinema forever. Also looking forward to Daredevil, especially post-Hawkeye, as well as Home Alone, another Joe Pes-ki -- whoops! -- Pesci classic. And for what it's worth, I actually think Love and Thunder is better than Ragnarok. While the comedy was heightened, it did a much better job of not always undercutting the drama with jokes (which Marvel sometimes does a little too much for me), trusting the audience to accept and feel the gravity of the drama when it occurs. So I hope a rewatch will not be in vain for you, especially within the context of the greater MCU you're now familiar with. Cheers!

Richard

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This should be a fun week. I always love having another excuse to watch Home Alone. Glad to see you picked the order so Jingle All The Way is also making it this season. If (and that's a big if) you end up with some extra time during the month, Just Friends (2005) is a nice feel-good romcom holiday movie...should you find yourself in the mood for another movie like that this season.

Josh B.

Think you can put The Penguin 8 episode mini series after The Batman since its a direct sequel before The Batman 2 comes out?

Fred Aczon

Perfect!! We also get Daredevil earlier than before woooo!!

TheJoeKerr

It has been freezing in OH where I am. Feels like Jan temps which makes me afraid what the weather will be like in Jan/Feb. I think it’s going to be awful.

Steve G

You are going to enjoy the Superman trilogy and of course home alone. Best combo watch for the holidays for sure.

Black_TYGR

🙌 great call on holiday movies! Love this time of year. Can’t wait for you to catch the Christopher Reeves Superman. Near and dear to to my heart watching those movie as a child. You are a on roll, Kali! Way to end the year strong. Woot woot!

Joe

Agree here. The Penguin series might be my favorite DC property besides the Dark Knight. It was so good.

Nina

you're gonna love the score for "The Holiday" by Hans Zimmer 💖

La Baanga

If you catch the Superman bug and end up watching the new one, it's definitely worth taking a trip to downtown Cleveland afterwards to see the filming locations. So many recognizable landmarks.

Brian

Not only is Superman loved as a character, Christopher Reeves embodied the ideals of Superman better than anyone. Fair warning, after Superman 2 it went downhill in a hurricane. Supes 3 & 4 ended Superman onscreen for many years. As someone with the studio once said "Bullets couldn't kill Superman, but Richard Pryor did!!"

The Amazing Webhead

I’m excited for this week’s list. Superman is a classic & the world’s first superhero in general. You’ll love him. The 12 days of Christmas event sounds fun. Love your superhero list. One change I will suggest is like what some are saying is maybe watch the first X-Men before Doctor Strange & watch X2 & Last Stand before The Marvels. :) That’s my thoughts really.

Joe Blankenship

John Williams' Superman theme always gets me so hyped up in that movie. It's the perfect Superman music.

McShades

Superman will be fun to watch, just keep in mind it was made in 1978. Superman and Superman 2 were shot back to back, so it's basically one big story broken into two movies. If the tone of the movie kind of shifts it's because the Director Donner was fired before finishing, although DC allowed him to come back later and do a Superman 2 Donner cut.

kaliwali

LOL omg the Joe Pesky hate mail on YouTube had me cooked 🤣😭

kaliwali

Oh noooooooooo. Might re-visit watching that one then based on yours and Onno's comment 👀

kaliwali

Yess! Glad you're excited for that one! I'm very excited to see more Cameron Diaz 😍

kaliwali

LOL no... No I am not sure about that one 🤣

kaliwali

Hans Zimmer!? I had no idea! I picked it for Cameron Diaz but now I'm very excited 👀😍

kaliwali

Right!? Like THIS is December?? What's coming around the corner? 👀😭

kaliwali

Oooo I had no idea it was filmed in Cleveland! Very cool!!

kaliwali

Ooo Interesting suggestion! May take you up on that!

Phil Stubblefield

Good to know I'm not alone! I made it through the first episode and then kept saying, "I'll finish it eventually..." Needless to say, I haven't resumed it yet...

LeSteeler

DC's The Batman movie next to those Marvel movies is funny, The Batman being an all time great film...DC is back. Guardians 3 is by far the best upcoming MCU film too in ur journey...

Dave M.

Okay.... when is the Home Alone reaction going to be released? i'm really anticipating that one!!!!!!! And Home Alone 2: Lost In New York is WORTH it as well. Also, I met Macaulay Culkin and I loved that experience! I looked like Macaulay Culkin when I was a kid and when he was a kid.

kaliwali

Lol it's coming tomorrow morning! I'll release it early since it's Sunday! Let's say 9am EST ✨
