Okay but the way this show immediately got its hooks into me?? Rude but respectful 🤣 And I can't say y'all didn't warn me. I went into this show planning to only watch one episode this week since I already have my watchlist plate absolutely full... But I already got way too emotionally attached to a blind lawyer who is held together by Catholic guilt, sheer stubbornness, and the heart of a saint lolI absolutely LOVE how grounded and slow-burny this show feels. It's gritty without being overly flashy, violent without feeling like my stomach hurts, and heavy without being super overwhelming. Hell's Kitchen feels a lot like Gotham City. And Matt isn't trying to save the entire world, just his little corner from rotting completely... And I love it. I get why you all love Matt Murdock so much now. He's soft-spoken but epically intense. Compassionate but clearly carrying so much unresolved pain. His contrast between courtroom Matt and nighttime masked hero feels so exciting! By day, he's all belief in the system. But at night, he's what happens when it fails. By Episode 2 I was hooked and wishing I had more hours in the day. So yeah, I was only supposed to watch one episode this week. But this show deserves more. I now fear for my emotional stability going forward but honestly, it's worth it lol. See you next week for more!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/VVoGsXxqavEI watched this on Disney+

Let's go!!!! By the way, do you remember the blind lawyer in No Way Home that caught that brick? Hehehe EDIT: you did in fact remember! By the way, go back and watch the hallway fight at the end of episode 2 and pay attention to the flow - that is One Single Shot - there are no cuts, there are no edits, that entire scene is a 100% continuous scene.

Your going to love this. This series was like the iron man of the street level superhero characters for marvel .

Jose Morales

I was already excited for this when it first came out on Netflix, but when we got that hallway scene with the great choreography, and included Matt losing stamina was so amazing that I was hooked. Can't wait for you to get to watch more episodes.

Kirill D.

LFG, boys! Haven't seen this masterpiece in a while.

Terry In the UK

Ok.... I'm ready to start another new journey....I know the Daredevil character from the Ben Affleck movie, and the Charlie Cox cameo in Spiderman : No Way Home. At one time I had planned to start watching the show, but ended up watching the DC series The Flash instead. Really looking forward to diving into another show thats "new" to us both Kali... It's actually exciting to be going into this blind just as you are for the show...I think it's gonna be good .

TheJoeKerr

Let’s go! You even got the red outfit and the red light to match the vibes! Edit: I forgot how good that single camera shot during the fighting at the end of episode 2 was.

Fred Aczon

While Daredevil is created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, the Daredevil that we know and love is due to one of top comic writers of the 80's, Frank Miller. You're actually kinda familiar already with Miller's work as he wrote the graphic novel 300, and had the task of re-writing Batman's origin in Batman: Year One, which is one of the main inspirations for Nolan's Batman Begins. So the gritty Gotham City tones and vibes is totally appropriate. But before all that, Miller took Daredevil, a comic headed for cancellation, and turned it into an epic crime noir story. These show writers understood the assignment and fully fleshed out Matt onscreen into the flawed, walking contradiction that he is. Let's go!!!!!

Steve Mercier

Oh, what? You're starting one of the greatest shows of the last decade and change? Mother$%&#ing sweeeeeeeeet...

AdmiralZhou

Oh yessss everything you’re watching right now is PEAK 😂 This is one of my favorite shows. So well written, acted, directed

Burak Yağız

Karen’s actress plays Faye in God of War btw

Robert da Spruce

I haven’t watched this before Not sure why. Just kinda slipped past me

rubberkidney

alright its coming, i just need to be patient

Kal

Oooooh you're in for such a treat! Can't wait.

Michael Tuffin

Hell's Kitchen hasn't been decadent for ages. Totally gentrfied now. In the 80s, when lived there, different story.

Hefty517

I can’t believe the day is finally here. I really hope you enjoy this; I think you will. The casting in this show is amazing. I had never heard of Charlie Cox prior to this, and now I could never imagine anyone else playing Matt.

Michael Enos

the chemical accident when he was a child took his sight but apparently dialed the rest of his senses off the charts according to his origin story. I forgot when that badass fight happened and when I realized it was at the end of Ep.2 I was audibly saying OH Yeah...yeah yeah!!

Giancarlo Gasparin

As someone who was trying to get you to watch a few episodes of this prior to No Way Home; yes...I've definitely been "mostly patiently waiting" for today. lol Feeling slightly attacked, but I'll allow it. lolll

Dude Longcouch

I'll never forget how Jerry Holkins described this show as "a superhero show you can watch without feeling like an asshole" 🤣 It does really stand out from the typical MCU tone, it felt kinda wild at the time.

Dude Longcouch

And Charlie Cox played Gustave in Clair Obscur!

Joseph Anthony

fun fact, the stuff that made Matt go blind is the same stuff that made the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles.

mitchhamilton64

fun little coincidence, idk if anyone has pointed this out but jon favreau, the actor who played happy hogan, played foggy nelson in the ben affleck daredevil movie. so it was a bit funny to see daredevil and him share the screen again in no way home, but him being a different character and daredevil being played by a different actor.

2026-09-07 13:00 Love you’re loving this great series so far! Never got around to the third season myself, which I heard was the absolute best, so I’m excited to check it out when you get to it! For clarification about the Boxing Money Jack Murdock won: you still get paid AS a boxer, it’s his profession after all. Winning and losing purses are decided upon up front, and the money usually comes from bookies or those that schedule entry into the fights. In this instance though, I do think Jack threw the money in the box because he DID take the fall, out of shame at himself.

Charlie Vox plays blinde very well! I love this show, the intro music and everything else! Can't wait to watch more with you!

Gustavo Sampaio

I do like this show but I'm partial to the Jessica Jones series more. She's totally unapologetic and brutal. :-)

M1 Maz

Watching this for the first time with you and I'm loving it! I feel like this is to Marvel what Andor is to Star Wars. And I'm enjoying every part of it so much. Give me a dark, gritty crime drama with some superhero flair! haha Also.... unless I blinked and missed it, that final hallway fight when rescuing the kid was shot in one continuous take?? God of War style?? Oh I just know I'm going to love this shows tone and vibe. Can't wait for next week!

McShades

Yeah all the Netflix Marvel TV shows were dramas, and were all really good... It's to bad Marvel and Netflix couldn't work something out for more seasons, but at the time Disney+ streaming service was coming out and Netflix didn't want to support their competitor, because once their agreement expired all the shows would transfer to Disney+ streaming.

Irrelevance - Bjorn Vanbelleghem

I saw this a pretty long time ago. But my memory sucks big time. So it'll be a really nice watch a long again. Thank you, Kali ;-) Edit: the woman who saves Matt is actually Rosario Dawson. Might know her from quite a few other things.

The Amazing Webhead

Great reaction! You met one of the best characters in Marvel. The man without fear himself: Daredevil. So Daredevil was created back in the 60’s by Stan Lee and has had many amazing stories. By the 80’s, Frank Miller took over and made the comics more darker which is why the show is TV-MA. The show is based on those Frank Miller comics where it was dark & gritty. The show originally was released on Netflix as part of a deal they made with Marvel. Aside from Daredevil, they made more Marvel shows on Netflix but the deal expired after Disney Plus became a thing. So Daredevil & the other Marvel shows from Netflix were moved on to Disney Plus. Matt is an amazing character in the comics and Charlie Cox played him so good here. This is his origin from the comics. He got hit by chemicals/waste that made him blind but heighten his senses. He has sonar where he can hear far, can sense your heartbeat if you’re lying or not, became a lawyer, & trained to fight. He has some similarities to Batman in that both are trained fighters, vigilantes, & strike fear/interrogate criminals. You also met some of his supporting cast from the comics such as Karen & Foggy who are important in Matt’s life. Lastly, Matt has teamed up with heroes over the years mainly Spider-Man. Mainly cause both have a common enemy. I’m excited for you to learn more of the lore of this character & his world with this series.

The Amazing Webhead

Also I do want to say that despite being TV-MA, this show is set in the MCU. I do like variety and seeing more mature stories in the MCU was a nice change of pace at the time it came out. Of course, Matt made a small cameo in No Way Home as Peter’s lawyer who helped him clear his name from the Mysterio stuff. I remember people in my theater cheered seeing Charlie Cox come back to play him again. Timeline wise, the show takes place in 2015. A few years after the events of the first Avengers movie as they mentioned “the incident” which is referring Loki’s attack in New York. :)

Joe

They both have incredible main villians. I do like the first season of Jessica Jones better than DD, but they are both great to me.

Giancarlo Gasparin

"By day, he's all belief in the system. But at night, he's what happens when it fails." 2 episodes in, wearing red, and she already grasps the character better than most. Talk about understanding the assignment.

Malcolm Ferguson

Daredevil was someone I had heard of before this, but this show was my first real introduction to him, and he instantly became one of my favourite superheroes. It does such a good job of introducing him to the audience, and Charlie Cox is just amazing in the role (BTW, he also voices a character in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - I'd love to see you play that on your gaming channel at some point) The other thing I love about this show is how it treats its side characters, like Foggy & Karen. Like, I almost feel bad calling them side characters, because they barely even feel like that - they're fully fleshed characters in their own right. Like in episode 2, for example, that little side story with them was so endearing, and despite being so separate from what's going on with Matt, it still feels like it adds so much. I also love how that first episode perfectly demonstrates how the villains operate. Seeing the different bosses interact off each other, the different roles they play in the overall organization, how they're all kind of scared of the big boss, how they manipulate and use people to get what they want, and how efficiently they tie up loose ends. It does a great job of showing just what Matt is up against.

Nomyrose

You have now seen one of the greatest fight scenes ever put to film IMO.

Nomyrose

you have now seen one of the greatest fight sccene

Daniel Morgan

Just an fyi, I wrote an additional comment on all ik in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. It's probably a repeat comment, but, imma read the other comments cause, well, idk if there's anything ya might not know in it. Anyways, I'm just… stoked with Marvel. 😭😭 I'm sorry.

Robin Holmes

So excited for you to watch this! I want to do Spoilers but will not. Comic Nerd Lore: It's not JUST super-hearing. Matt can hear approximately the entirety of Hell's Kitchen at all times and has to focus not to. He has a sense of echolocation, or SONAR type vision. but yes, he is blind. His sense of smell is so strong he can track people for miles and even tell twins apart. He absolutely cannot stand being around smokers. He tends to eat either incredibly bland or incredibly strong foods because his sense of taste is so sensitive he can tell you every ingredient in what he eats. He prefers bland in general, or very strong food because it kind of numbs everything out. It is also why he likes terrible scotch. His sense of touch is so sensitive he can actually read normal books because he can feel the ink printed on the paper. The braille is just a cover. Also, it is alluded he is an incredible lover because of his sensitivity combined with the rest. Also, fun fact: He is the very first Religious superhero in Marvel.

Daniel Morgan

😂😂 I finished episode 6. This is the closest I've been doing a marathon alongside someone. And, watching 3 episodes at a time, and then 4 into the finale, leaves the BEST cliffhangers during a marathon watch. But, that's how I always do on rewatches. 😂 Also, you can guess which character the Karen Page actress plays in the God of War series. 👀

Pada Lee

Wow, I forgot how good Daredevil is. I haven’t been able to watch past S1 yet since it originally released, so looking forward to diving into it again.

Marty McGee

That final fight scene in ep 2 just blows me away every time I see it. This man has taken incredible punishment just a few hours before yet still takes on 10? or so guys. You can tell he's exhausted before it even begins. This is where you see who Daredevil is, the lengths he goes to, his sheer force of will to keep going. Then at the end he stops at the door to pull up his mask before going to the kid so as not to scare him. Such an amazing scene and the fact that it's all one-shot makes it all that more impressive. Yeah this is a dark and gritty show, grounded in more realism. It doesn't pull away from the ugliness of the underworld. He was teased in the first episode, but get ready to meet one of the most interesting and formidable human villains in the MCU.

Perry Campbell

The reaction was great. I loved reading the comics, Stan Lee and Frank Miller were amazing writers. Hope when u finish the shows u get a chance to read a few.

Boba Fettuccine

It's been a while since I've watched this show so it was a lot of fun to revisit it and see your reaction. Looking forward to seeing your take on the rest of the series!

Justyn

FINALLY we are starting peak fiction.

Mack

Fun fact: In the comic book when Matt goes blind from the radioactive chemicals in the accident a young boy walking by had 4 baby turtles in a fish bowl dropped it on the ground and that same radioactive chemicals covered the baby turtles and washed them into the drainage and that same chemicals got on a rat in the sewers which gave birth to Master Splinter and the 4 baby turtles which became the Ninja Turtles and the Rat raised them and teached them the ways of the Ninja. Daredevil and the Ninja Turtles share the same origin story and Daredevil is a Ninja as well. Very cool.

Nina

Man those fight scenes are just on another level. Charlie Cox doing most of his own stunts. The choreography and the way they are filmed. One of the biggest reasons why this show is so beloved. No other Marvel show or movie has been able to match that.

Joe

I am so glad you are starting this series. I was a big comic reader when I was younger, and Daredevil was one of my favorite characters. He does have some superhuman abilities, he lost his vision because of the chemicals but his other senses are heightened well above normal human levels. But he also does have a disability and he doesn't let that or anything else stop him. He is not trying to save the world, but he is doing and sacrificing everything to do what he can, both through the system as a lawyer and at night as Daredevil. He really is inspirational, but he is not perfect either, which makes him more relatable. I do sometimes wonder if my love for Daredevil and Matt when I was younger influenced me to become a lawyer and a masked vigilante taking on the undercity with my bare fists at night. Wait, only one of those things are true, but which one?

William

Very glad to see that you’re enjoying this. Like you, I too also very much like a good, well written slow burn. You’re going to really enjoy the journey of these characters I think, as well as those you’ve yet to meet.

Amko Basic

Ah I love this show so much, It gets you emotional one second and in the next your smiling like at the end when he's walking out with the kid and steps on the door or when karen is opening up when they are out drinking, Amazing fight choreography I love the characters and the casting of them. I opened up patreon on my phone while I was at work and saw that you did 2 episodes at once and all I could think about was getting home to watch this. Can't wait until the next one!

Kal

Is your vigilante name Average Joe?

Joe

Surprisingly have not given thought to that. Is Slightly Above Average Joe available?

Jacob

Between Frieren, Squid Games, and Daredevil we are getting spoiled hard

pinkdino99

As good as this is, it gets better through the next seasons. And as impossible it is to believe, Jessica Jones is even better ! Deborah Ann Woll whom plays Karen Page is a mental health survivor. She plays Dungeons&Dragons to cope with crippling anxiety (one of us ! One of us !)

AJ

so happy you're starting this show !

Charles Box

So, now that you have seen the first two episodes, and now know that Matt is a blind lawyer...you posed the same question I mentioned that my son made to me "How can a blind person see to do what he does?" The reason why I suggested to watch the movie with Ben Affleck, although people disagreed with me, is because it shows HOW HE SEES, but I could not reveal that without telling you he was blind. I still won't say, but it is a really cool way how they show his perspective of the world around him.

Giancarlo Gasparin

I think what makes Daredevil so different from the same tired “secret identity” storyline we’ve seen before, is that Matt consciously plays into the blind act to truly avoid suspicion. One episode in, the audience knows full well he’s more than capable of “seeing” what’s going on around him. Yet, the blind rizzler will pretend he can’t tell the realtor tried to shake his hand, and ask if she would be so kind as to guide him around the office. The conscious awareness to keep up that front is Matt's real mask.

Joe

And her husband has severe vision loss and is going blind, which makes her role and performance feel even more real.

Joe Blankenship

We think he can't see, but he heard loud and clear what Karen had going on in that one scene, ya kno-what-i-mean?

Malcolm Ferguson

I guess, for me, it was just never really a question. I just took it as his other senses being sharpened to compensate for his lack of sight. To an unrealistic degree, sure, but I just wrote that off as "comic book logic" (even if this one is a bit more grounded) and didn't question it.

Charles Box

There is that, and DareDevil isn't the only movie out there where he does amazing fight scenes as a "blind man." There are plenty out there and the earliest one i remember is Blind Fury (1989). Its not comic book related, more war type related with a sword and a blind man. I also watched all the DC and Marvel stuff as it came out also. Plus to get the set up for Deadpool and Wolverine, it's easier to catch the Easter Eggs, and double meanings, but I will not spoil anything there neither.

Fred Aczon

I think it was a deliberate decision to not fully explain Matt's gifts from the get go. They definitely take their time, like a slow burn, so that each new episode you a get a glimmer of his full capabilites and limitations. By the time you get his full backstory you understand what he can do, what he "sees" and why he is, the way he is. Bind Fury was great, I loved it as a kid. It's actually a remake of one of the Zatoichi movies from the 60s, which feature a blind swordsman in feudal Japan. A lot of people think Daredevil is definitely inspired by Zatoichi as he came out 2 years later.

Bill Bryant

I love how sensitive and kind-hearted you are. Great series - DD was my favorite comic book growing up, along with Fantastic Four and maybe the Justice League. I think they really did a good job bringing this character to life.

Joe Blankenship

I wanna say the chemicals that spilled on him and blinded him also gave him heightened senses--they kinda breeze over that like the MCU Spidey's spider bite. And of course, just being blind means your hearing and smell gets stronger. But yeah, that hallway fight scene is epic. When we first saw that, it let everybody know that this show wasn't effin around.

Shawn Bertucci

This is such a great series, and your reaction was so heartfelt. It's such a rich story with complex characters. I can't wait to see you react to the rest of the series.

mm2270

I'm a little late to the watch party, but I'm so glad you started this series! Now you see why we all love this show so much. He's such an amazing hero. He reminds me a little of a more human and flawed version of Captain America. He fights the bad guys because he really believes in justice, even if that justice needs to happen via vigilantism. And I just have to add that, for as cool as Matt Murdoch is, the supporting characters and cast really help make this show. I love Foggy, Karen and Claire, and even some of the bad guys are just amazing! All around just a fantastic, dark, gritty and well done show.

Holy Arathi

Daredevil might be one of marvels only great shows. Right next to Punisher and ….. I can’t remember the name, female lead, black hair, super strength, private eye.

Narutoanime16

Well he is still blind like if you showed him a paper with your name written on it he can’t tell what’s on it unless he touches it lol. He can’t see color either like he wishes he could see the sky

Holy Arathi

The nurse is Rosario Dawson.

Giancarlo Gasparin

Right, totally fair. I was referring to his spatial awareness. He knows exactly what’s going on around him, but pretends not to when it suits him.

Walker

I think Matt was telling the truth when he said he enjoys it. I don’t think he enjoys inflicting pain but enjoys stopping terrible things from happening. I think that scene when he saves the boy says it all. He is stuck in that moment when he found his father dead and he is changing the outcome for others. He is able to reunite a father and son who otherwise never would see each other again. I am sure he is both reliving the trauma and its cathartic for Matt to save others, to do what he wished someone had done for him.

Giancarlo Gasparin

Aww, mate. No doubt. If you missed the 3rd season, you definitely missed the best part.

Eric May

That famous hallway scene! Gotta love it! Very cool getting your reactions through the run of it, too! I have really appreciated watching your Youtubes and am very glad I decided to follow your patreon as well. Knew I had to get this tier, as I wanna catch all your Battlestar content. I really started to lean into your reactions because you don’t feel the need to use the Lord’s name in vain. I want to thank you for this. I appreciate it. It comes up in material you review; that’s not on you. I know the cmajority of these shows or movies you react to fairly well. Thank you for giving me a new sense of enjoyment out of them.

jay

Jessica Jones. The rest of the netflix marvel series: Nick Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, The Defenders.

Holy Arathi

Yes yes!! Thank you! I couldn’t remember for the life of me.
