Oh wow. I was absolutely speechless after most of these episodes in this little binge 🙀 They all carry so much quiet weight. The journey shifts here. Frieren stops feeling like a distant, wandering observer and becomes someone shaped by such a long and complicated past. Her power is never loud or flashy. Always calm, patient, and deeply earned. There's something almost unsettling about how effortlessly she moves through dangerous enemies, not because she enjoys it, but because she really understands it. Time has taught her where others only know instinct. I love how much this arc explores different kinds of strength. Power is measured in the moment versus power built slowly over time. Control versus patience. Fear versus resolve. Frieren doesn't prove herself, she never has to, she simply exists in her power. That quiet certainty carries so much powerful weight!Fern's growth continues to feel incredibly intentional. She isn't just following, she's stepping forward now. Into her own. Her magic is precise, calm, grounded. But what really started to click in these episodes was the trust forming between her and Frieren. Frieren teaches by believing, and Fern is now answering that belief with quiet confidence. Then there's Stark. Honestly very quickly becoming one of my favorite 'side' characters. He isn't fearless, he's terrified. But when it matters, he's willing to stand his ground anyway. His readiness to face certain death just to be a true warrior, to protect others and see the fight through, felt so raw and honest. Courage isn't about bravado here. It's about choosing to stay, choosing to get up, even when every instinct is telling you not to.After the tension and epicness of episodes 8-10, it was really nice to finally settle back into the calm meditative vibe of this show in episode 11. Snow. Silence. Waiting. These moments reminded me that Frieren is never about the battles. It's about what remains after them. Learning to stay present. To let moments matter while they're happening, not only as memories centuries later. I can't wait to watch more with you all next week! Until then 🤍Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/9oWCWhsj-xYI watched this on Crunchyroll in original Japanese with subtitles

Terry In the UK

I am literally gonna be stretching my willpower to it's absolute limit but I'm going to try to stop myself from watching these till tomorrow afternoon Kali... it's past 11pm here in Britain and I want to enjoy these episodes without heavy eyes..and I know I'd never be able to just watch one ..the show is just too good to stop watching when there's any episodes left once I start. I'll probably drift off to sleep with my finger hovering over the play button on my phone though telling myself "wait .. just wait till tomorrow".. Thank you for the upload tonight though Kali, I can sleep happy knowing I've got something so very special waiting for me to watch tomorrow afternoon. x

No problem at all, Terry! 11pm is usually my 'one eye open' time as well so I totally understand 🤣 Have a good rest tonight & enjoy tomorrow evening!

I'm glad your falling in love with anime . I remember not knowing what anime was until I started watching Naruto on Netflix in the 20 00s

Let’s gooo!!! Been waiting for the next episodes!! I was about to read your post, but I stopped in case there’s any spoilers 😊

a bit of interesting trivia that is lost in translation (i'm stealing this from elsewhere): "In Japanese, there are different ways to count things. For humans (sentient beings) there's a special counter (hitori - 1 person), but Frieren deliberately uses the counter for small animals (ippiki - 1 small animal) when she kills Draht. Bonus insult: she doesn't even use the counter for large animals, but the one for small critters :D"

'this song makes me want to learn japanese' oh shit girl your in deep now...

“Aura. Kill Yourself.” Frieren is a gamer for sure. How many times I had this yelled to me in Xbox 360 CoD lobbies!

woohoo! loving some weekly frieren! each time im watching im thinking "YAY! You got to that part. Now I can't wait for you to get to the next part!" so good. in japanese the series is called "sousou no frieren" which has two meanings in japanese. ones roughly translation is "frieren at the funeral" which could mean her at himmel's funeral, cause that was such a pivotal moment for her character. the other meaning being "Freiren the slayer" which is how she is known to demon kind. i like the idea of wanting to believe in a goddess because to live the life of an elf, and we still dont know how old kraft is, to live for so long and do so much, it would be sad to be at the end of your life and just go into nothingness. its convenient that way. love the flashbacks with frieren and i could see you getting teary eyed as flamme was talking about planting flowers at her grave. the way the music kicks in, its like she knows her life is coming to an end and she requests her greatest student learn and perform her favorite spell so she can have flowers at her grave. i never noticed this before but its kind of ironic how lugner wanted linie to finish with stark quickly so she could come in and create an opening against fern, when it was linie who distracted lugner for fern to get the kill. I just cant wait! so many good moments to come!

Thank you, Kali. You make my nights fun. Edit: Btw, the weird B in german is actually pronounced as a double s. So it was actually Ausserts.

I continue to love how this anime so flawlessly merges the memories of the past into the present! Each time just peeling back a little more of the onion and giving that powerful context that makes each moment hit harder. Frieren's battle against Aura was so good! It was that quiet confidence that gave me chills Also have to shoutout how good the music has been! Didn't hear it as much in this episode but the theme that plays when Frieren is with Flamme and talking about Aureole is soooo good And also, I'm totally a map person too, so I totally get what you were saying LOL

Ghgh

I really like that ur enjoying it a lot considering u have so much more to see. Ive watched a decent amount of anime and this one is really unique and makes me emotional even rewatching it.

I think Frieren underestimated Granat's intelligence, so she decided to leave town, thinking she'd be blamed for the death of the guard, but I also think she was planning on taking out Aura anyway, so the attack from Draht ended up expediting her plans.

PG Modehouse

Now you know why back in episode 5, Frieren said she was used to seeing her master beg for her life. Flamme would pretend to be a weak human, a non-mage, and when a demon underestimated her, she'd wipe it out.

Speaking of the montages, there is one thing about the montage where Frieren was alone in the woods after Flamme died which I find beautiful. If you pay attention to the actual time spent on her solitude, and then the seconds that pass between meeting Himmel and the present, they are accurate for how long the the 1000 years and the 10 years would seem in comparison to each other.

PG Modehouse

Frieren not wanting to get recertified as a mage is hilarious to me. Imagine outliving multiple iterations of the DMV/BMV, lol.

i subbed because of Frieren, i seen alot of anime but for me this one stands alone at the top.. an absolute masterpiece quite the show to start with (: i appreciate the 4 episode drops.

Frieran revealing her true mana to defeat Aura was epic! They don’t mess around with these fight scenes either. There’s no back and forth while destroying the whole town. It’s more like surprise! Boom! you have a hole in your chest! 😄 I’m really enjoying the use of flashbacks. Not only to give us lore. But also to reveal the lessons that were being taught by the masters to their students. Even though the apprentices didn’t necessarily understand the lesson they were being taught at the time they first learned them Like Eisen teaching Stark things. But they did fully click until years later. Same goes for Fern with Frieran. Or Frieran with Flamme. And even Frieran with Himmel, Hester, and EIsen when they try to teach her about humanity and friendship That’s one of the things I like most about this show. There’s no one constantly yelling in the other person’s ear. Do it this way! Or Do it that way! They calmly and quietly impart a lesson. And let the person discover the meaning in their own time Looking forward to next week!

I think you would really like YOASOBI and milet’s other music (the OP and ED singers/group). Check out THE FIRST TAKE channel (as reactions would be so cool, but even just on your own)! Since you’re starting Demon Slayer, there will be some great content for you to check out there. YOASOBI also did the song Idol which was the opening theme for season 1 of Oshi no Ko, which would be fun to check out. Season 3 is airing now, so the algorithm may help push those too?

Scotty Doesn't Know

Frieren is one on my favourites aswell and i am really enjoying your reactions, you said you might do more anime reactions in the future. If you like world building anime i would strongly recommend "That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime"

Oh wow, you are really knocking these out. The musical score is masterful as always, the musical track "Zoltraak" makes a welcome reprise in the Fern/Lugner fight. It's such good epic battle music. I also love how this show brings context to seemingly throwaway lines from a few episodes ago. Like how Frieren learned the sour grapes spell because of Eisen. And that the field of flowers spell Frieren used for Himmel's memorial was Flamme's favorite spell. Such a wonderful reflection of life and how people unexpectedly shape us.

Cuore

I never noticed before... but as they are staying with Kraft - there's a dinner scene. But each time they show the scene more of the party are praying. First it was Kraft... then it added Fern (and Stark? together? that would be cool) and then finally, Frieren. It's that kind of care to the details of the characters that makes this show so special. It's full of stuff like that. It's also true to life how faith is properly shared and spread... through good examples and admiration of others. You just passed through peak #2. I believe you are about to enter the 3rd and final peak. It's just my opinion... I love the whole show tremendously - but then end doesn't peak like some of the stuff in the middle. Maybe it's just the time in my life right now... Prediction: you're going to have a new favorite episode somewhere in the next 3.

Fatal Otaku

the English version of the Aura scene is equally amazing. I normally am a Japanese w/ English subs anime viewer but watching that scene gives me chills in English. Mallorie Rodak did such an amazing job as Frieren. She has this perfect combination of mature, and childish voice that lends perfectly to Frieren depending on the situation. Especially in serious moments like the Aura scene, she can take command of the scene.

I see frieren reaction, i subscribe, am simple man

Gerlon Two-Fingers

subbed to the patreon just for Frieren, love these reactions!

Holy Arathi

The end of the aura fight is the most insanely epic thing I’ve seen in anime. It’s so well done. And Frieren doesn’t even give Aura the dignity of killing her herself.

Thoko

I totally get what you're saying Kali, but if MY professor said that he was taught by Archimedes I would ask the professor what drugs he had been smoking lol

glen kelly

the way they build that up the history the emotion you know fairly fast frieren will beat aura because she hides her mana but oh man they do it so well showing the past and all and then the coldest line in all of anime "aura, kill yourself" wow that line goes hard
