Alright. People told me to skip this one for some reason. But you all know me by now, I don't like skipping parts of the journey just because something isn't the fandom favorite!I survived all of the Jurassic films with you last summer, so clearly I'm just built for this LOLAnd honestly? I'm so glad I watched this one.

Because (hot take) I actually loved it.I enjoyed the dark and intense vibe of this movie that really worked in telling Wolverine's origin story. What happened before the memory loss and why. It felt gritty, personal, and centered on a character that I've actually grown to love somehow. Wolverine ended up becoming my favorite of the X-Men crew. So getting to see more of where he came from made everything hit deeper for me looking back at the trilogy now.The pain, the betrayals, the rage, the loneliness. I understand it all now. He's more than just sharp claws, attitude and cigars. He's years and yeaaaars of loss stitched into a man that still chooses to keep moving forward.A man that's seen hell over and over again but still picks humanity. And the story of his brother? Sheeeeeew.Victor was a heartbreaking but fascinating layer to add. Two brothers tied together by trauma, blood, wars, history.. But being changed by all of that in completely different ways. Feels pretty human, huh. It felt tragic watching that bond shift and change over time. You can feel that it didn't have to become what it did but sometimes that's just how life works.Honestly, overall this was a fun surprise for me. Sometimes the movies people warn you about are the ones that end up being the most interesting. And this one had it all for me. Lore, heart, character depth, and a good time with a few laughs in that X-Men messy chaos way that seems to happen in every movie lol. It gave me even more reasons to love Wolverine and for that, I give it a thumbs up!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/JtiU1nbTCAsI watched this on Disney+

Here we go! Just to clear things up, wolverine and Sabretooth are NOT brothers. That is a Hollywood made up thing to make things more dramatic. Dog Logan is Logans actual brother (well half brother), Victor Creed (Sabretooth ( was one of logans partners, when Wolverine was working on clandestine missions for Team X AND Weapon X. Sabretooth's vengeful obsessions against Wolverine stems from jealousy and some weird phycological attachment. Sabretooth went after logan a bunch of times after Logan left Weapon X.

Everyones free to like what they like, I enjoy films that people collectively dislike. But that doesn't stop this objectively being a badly made film. From a comic book perspective, from a casting perspective, editing, directing, it's all just badly done.

Narutoanime16

I don’t hate this movie as much as everyone else but it’s mainly cause they ruined Deadpool in this movie which is why it’s hated so much 😂if you ever watch the Deadpool films you’ll see why , the Deadpool movies are more comic faithful than what this movie did. Even the look of the character the ruined. Victor is also Sabertooth he was in the first X men movie but obviously Logan doesn’t remember him , Victor became more Ferral due to his mutation, if Logan didn’t get the adimantium skeleton he would have become more feral naturally with his bone claws & such. Sabertooth & Logan aren’t usually brothers but they are in the weapon X program together and so many missions together you see that in X men animated series there history is very tied together & they live for a long time. The movies highlight Wolverine more so than the other X men cause he was becoming a more popular character but X men is a family, like I can’t even tell you one thing about Storm or Cyclops that makes them worthy X men form the movies we seen, you get more of everyone’s story in the animated series it flushes out the characters much much more especially Rogue.

The Dingo

Back in the 90s Marvel published a book called Origins. In it, we learned Wolverines real name is James Howlett. And James was a sickly young boy in the 1800's. His family was rich. His father was killed by a man that w9rked for them, and that's when James bone claws first emerged, literally, as he killed the man who killed his father. Scared he ran away and took th e name of the man who killed his father: Logan. Eventually after a lot of trauma his healing factor healed his mind by forcing amnesia on James, which is why he doesn't remember these events. Sabretooth (Victor) was never his brother in the comics (unless they changed the story and I wasn't aware of the change)

🤍💯🔥 can’t wait to chk this out later

Edgar Gonzalez

Thanks dude...can't tell you how many times i had to say that about this movie LOL Hollywood freedom man, they almost always get the story wrong and twist it to make it more dramatic... Shouts out to you! 👌👍

Edgar Gonzalez

Couldn't have said it better myself bruh. 👏

Jwanie

Glad you didn't skip this one. Despite the negative reception it got, it was still nice to see an origin story for Logan and how he actually lost his memories. I know you still got a ways to go, but I def look forward to seeing your reaction to Logan's final solo outing

KJ

This movie is two stories competing with eachother. One's a great story and one's a bad story, and we end up with a mishmash. I love the great story. Those Loony Tunes claws tho...

Aaaay, there we go Kali! That’s what I mean about people’s opinions on movies… it’s different for everybody. Sure, there may be more a lot more people that feel a certain way about a film (or a genre, for all those anime haters out there… don’t worry, I got ur back Kali), but they don’t speak for all of us. And this is your reactions, so it’s about *your* thoughts and opinions. And I’m with ya, Origins: Wolverine is a fun, guilty pleasure for me! Wolverine gets turned up in this one! And it features my favorite X-Men character ever: Gambit. So I love this one! Thanks for not skipping it Kali!

Kal

We can all be critical of some movies and still enjoy them, There are so many movies or TV shows that are objectively bad but still rate highly in my guilty pleasures list. It's important to form your own opinion and I love the fact you also reacts to things that don't necessarily come highly recommended. It's nice seeing someone be positive and enjoy the ride.

Terry In the UK

I've always felt that this movie suffers unnecessarily because it carries the heavy baggage of expectations from fans of the franchise rather than it being a terrible movie with no redemption. For anyone pressing play for the first time, that baggage of bad reviews could create a sense of expecting the worst....but it really isn't a bad film and I often wonder why is has such negative critique. Was it perfect...no . Was it the best made film...no. Did it feel rushed...yes But !!! Was it action packed....yes. Was it fun....yes Was I entertained....yes. It isn't a bad movie, and sometimes I just think that a lot of the negativity is more because of how much better it could have been. Wolverine is such an intriguing and complex character and his origin story had so much potential that this could have been one of the finest entries into the franchise, and because it didn't reach that potential, because it didn't reach the glorious heights the story was capable of, is for me the reason why so many fans of the X-Men were left both disappointed and underwhelmed. For sure, I'm certainly glad you didn't skip it Kali, I'm really happy you loved it., and as always, thank you Kali.

Chuckles1004

Glad for you to see some origins. I know this is a pause in the Mutant-Verse but sooo excited, you're so close to Logan and Deadpool 3!! Thanks Kali.

Robert da Spruce

People telling you to skip it may actually be working in your favor That way, you have no expectations going in. And you can be pleasantly surprised 😄 Oh, and that plus the fact that you tend to enjoy everything 😉

Fred Aczon

I'm glad that you enjoyed this movie Kali. It is a fun cheesy popcorn movie, plus it is the zenith of the "cool guys walk away from explosions" scene. Though It doesn't go a good job in showcasing fan favorite characters that people have been waiting to see in the big screen. Deadpool being the biggest misstep. During this time, the MCU barely started, and Hollywood was still afraid of comic book looks, deeming them silly. Even though Ryan Reynolds is the perfect casting, somebody actually thought this shirtless, no mouth, sweatpants wearing Deadpool was a better look than the classic red and black costume that everybody knows now.

Łukasz Jarczewski

The only good part of this movie is when Logan and his brother travel through history and take part in various battles throughout the ages. The movie is so terrible that even Fox later pretended it never existed. But I get why you watched it. I had to see it for myself at some point, too. I haven’t seen your reaction yet because I don’t know if I can handle watching this movie again. Maybe someday.

TheJoeKerr

This might have not been Deadpool’s origin story but it is the origin story for the idea of making the Deadpool movie many years later. There’s clips of Ryan Reynolds behind the scenes saying he would love to do a proper movie for this character and he knew the comic book fans would rip this version of Deadpool to shreds. It took a long time but he finally got his movie 11 years later.

Amko Basic

I remember this movie got a version leaked before the official release without most of the special effects done. It had notes on the screen like "victors claws grow" and stuff like that. Me and my 2 friends watched it and we thought it was enjoyable however just as you I didn't read any of the x-men comics. Fun fact there is an interview with Hugh Jackman where he talks about the flashback when he escapes from the procedure and he sais he jokingly asked for a closed set since he was running naked. But the AD had gathered all the girls in the cast and were waiting for him waving 5 dollar bills. So in panic he wants to cover up his... ehm johnson. But back then the claws were practical so he cut himself luckily only on the thighs.

Eric Stewart

Actually my one of my favorites of this series. Less childish. Higher stakes.

Calbert

One thing you didn’t pick up on is that his brother is sabertooth which was in the first X-Men movie. The big yeti monster looking guy who was working for magneto. I like this movie as a whole. But I think some of the reasons people don’t like it is that it kind of makes the continuity confusing. It contradicts quite a few things both before it and after it. But if you let that go, it’s not that bad of a movie in my opinion.

KJ

Next up is First Class, which is both the first in the prequel movies and was meant to be its own universe (like Spider-Man vs Amazing Spider-Man). Deadpool is worth a rewatch once you're done with the prequel movies (at least the first two).

Jojo Garlin

Fair warning whatever your feelings on this movie are. Everything besides Wolverine’s story with Weapon X will be discarded going forward, So the next X Men movie you watch if things don’t add up know that they’re not going to. Because this movie’s continuity is not really acknowledged with the next films except for Wolverine’s character.

McShades

The biggest problem with the Fox X-Men movies was they kept retconning the movie lore with each new movie. They didn't keep the story consistent across all the movies. But they were entertaining... His Brother is Sabretooth, he was in the first X-Men movie, he was the one who attacked him in the snow in the first movie, but they acted like they didn't know each other, plus he looked different. Also this Deadpool was different then the one in the Deadpool movie. That's what I meant by them retconning a lot of stuff. Deadpool & Wolverine is probably one of the best MCU movies out there... It was really good... You'll also want to watch Logan after you watch all the X-Men movies... Logan is another really good movie..

mitchhamilton64

ryan reynolds was a fan of deadpool and his casting of deadpool is up there with perfect casting like jk simmons as j. jonah jameson, or hugh jackman as wolverine. he got this role when he wasnt the huge mega star he is now so basically any input that was negative about this deadpool was met with basically "look, if you dont wanna play it this way then we simply will get someone who will." when talking about deadpool once to an executive about where his character ends up in this movie, the most talkative, smart mouth, fourth wall breaking character in the mcu ending up with his mouth sewn shut he was like "people are gonna go nuts for this" to which the exec was like "YEAH!" but ryan meant it in the opposite way. and despite the reaction to this movie, people were still wanting to have ryan reynolds to one day play deadpool again and the absolute hell ryan went through to finally get the movie out, to where they released a full 3d teaser voiced by ryan of the fight on the bridge from the deadpool to get people hyped, to somehow convincing fox to release a superhero comedy movie that would be rated R, it was worth it for what he brought to the MCU. as someone who hasnt read the comics, this is just not a good movie. its very clumsy in a lot of places like the editing and setup, plus the script. like why is this dude whos taking up a bridge just to talk to someone such an asshole? its only so we can have that moment of "OH! YOU DONT WANNA MESS WITH THE WOLVERINE! HES GONNA GET MAD AND YOURE GONNA GET IT!" especially with the guys line of "if youre gonna start something, you better finish it!" just bad writing id say. theres way more examples but my main take away from this movie is its about a little brother who lost a fight to his big brother and went into surgery just to beat him up.

Howie

“He’s a messed up dude.” 😂 Understatement of the year! Glad you enjoyed the movie, Kali! For viewers who don't have any "comicbook fan baggage," it's a fun action movie and with a lot of good backstory. But for me and fans of the X-Men comics, it was kinda frustrating to watch when it was first released. We saw the potential and when it wasn't realized for us, we couldn't help but feel disappointed. But that is our baggage and not yours, so I'm looking forward to all your X-Men (and spin-off) movie reactions! They will all be fun rewatches for me because of you! Happy to be part of your journey!

BERSERKER HALL OF REVIEW S

I’ve come to the conclusion long ago that people will just cry about and hate anything at this point. I personally loved this film. Easly one of my favorites . I’m glad there are more awesome open minded people like you that can just have fun with films and enjoy them for what they are .

Trevor Go

Watch X-men/Wolverine’s in order. Don’t go back and watch Deadpool yet. Deadpool jokes are based a lot on the X-men meta. You will get more of the jokes if you just keep on the release order timeline.

Hans Engelen

Bravo, I hate when people do that. I am here to re-live the experience of a first watch through the eyes of the reactor and to get maybe a different perspective from them. Let the creator make up their own damn mind.

Jose Luis Membreno

The writing for this movie was bad brother's what and for sure they ruin Deadpool in this movie

Lastboyscout73

I like this movie quite a bit, it's just the 3rd act that's all messed up. They messed up Deadpool in a bad way. Fortunately, Ryan Reynolds got to correct the mistake later! I think after your X-Men journey is complete, you should rewatch Deadpool again, it will make a whole lot more sense and you will get the jokes and references! It will be like a 1st time watch all over again.

Canonman28

“He doesn’t go anywhere near him during the trilogy” You sure about that 😂 What kind of animal does he look like?

KamikazeCDN

You got it pretty much correct on why so many people disliked it so much and that comes down to the comic book/source material lore. Is this movie a mess when it comes to that stuff? Yeah. Logan and Victor aren't brothers and it was even a bit more weird making them brothers when we've already seen the Victor character in the previous X-Men films. He's Sabretooth, he was the really big dude with long hair and everything from the other films. So it was odd. And of course as you read, they massacred Deadpool in this movie...it was a really odd choice. But all that said, it's not the worst movie there is, it's perfectly entertaining in the end. I have seen much worse movies than this and I'm glad you watched it personally. Too many people let their own opinions get in the way of others first time experiences. Is it the best thing ever? No, but I think a lot of the extreme hate it gets is because people are just so obsessed with the lore/source material. While it would be nice for it to stay accurate sometimes you just need to separate that side out because it can make you jaded and tarnish everything if its not "perfect". Where do you draw the line with perfection and accuracy, what detail is too small? I'm surprised you didn't seem to recognize Dominic Monaghan who played Bradley (the dude controlling electricity) since you're typically pretty good with that stuff. Or at least you didn't say you did. He's the actor that played Merry in The Lord of the Rings. Looking forward to the future X-Men movies but also looking forward to the little break as well.

Shane

From memory, the main reasons people didn't like this was 1: they really botched Deadpool, a fan favourite!..... 2: Logan and Victor (Sabertooth) aren't brothers in the comics! 3: while this was meant to be a true sequel, they messed with to much continuity! and 4: people weren't happy about how they treated Remy (Gambit) another fan favourite! Remy is a character that can essentially turn anything he touches into a bomb and uses playing cards because they are easy to carry! On its own its a fun movie, but it does start to get hard to follow until you get to the real prequels where they try to tidy things up a little without focusing too much on it!

Chris Capitano

Only a few things I didn’t like about this movie. I didn’t like the gambit fight scene in the alley way in New Orleans. Which is where I’m from and live. And I absolutely hated the way they portrayed Deadpool at the end. Cause I was one of those people who was a fan of Deadpool. Back then Deadpool had a lot of underground fans never really brought to the for front of any film or show then they did that to him. But overall I’d say it wasn’t that bad

Zedicus

There is so many movies everyone tells me are not worth watching but I often end up watching and absolutely loving so I completely understand your point of view

James Park

This movie definitely has hits and misses i think its entertaining if you're not too specific on the lore, I hope you're doing okay Kali with those haters we're all here for you and only wish great things for you

leonardo

The best thing that came out of this movie was the X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game; it's easily one of the best superhero games of all time and is considered better than the movie. I can't wait to see what the new Wolverine game from Insomniac Games will be like; it's got a lot to live up to when it comes out in September this year.

Mister Lou

Im right there with you! I actually like this movie! Idc if they messed up the Deadpool character because they eventually fix that + they get a kick ass fight scene with the "dead pool" they made. And his phoney looking CGI claws.. I thought they were supposed to look that way because they were brand spanking new! I also feel like they made his brother Sabretooth look and act menacing and smart.. not like the comic book accurate goon that only growls in the first movie. And yes! I do believe you should revisit Deadpool. Hopefully after Days of Future Past and hopefully you do The Rogue Cut, trust me.

Giancarlo Gasparin

“X-Men Origins” was supposed to be a series of movies giving us the opportunity to explore our favorite X-Men individually. Essentially, this movie was meant to be the X-Men’s “Iron Man”, but it didn’t work, in part because we kind of already knew most of Wolverine’s story, and the parts we didn’t know weren’t all that interesting (or maybe they just weren’t told well enough?). Next up, we were supposed to get “X-Men Origins: Magneto”. But after this one underperformed, those plans were scrapped. What’s interesting is how the studio cleverly ended up telling Magneto’s origin story anyway in…well, we’ll get there eventually.

Matt Rowland

I never liked Deadpool, so couldn't care less if they botched his origin. 🤭

Matt Rowland

People just need to stop, period. It has no bearing on their lives if she watches or not. It's so stupid how so many people get worked up about things like this

6Re6per6

Whoever said to skip this one is objectively wrong lol. It’s necessary for the entire storyline. Sure it’s not the best movie out of all of them, but it’s not bad by any means. It puts a whole lot of necessary perspective into who Wolverine really is, and where he came from, hence the title lol.

M1 Maz

So apparently the one she watched with Deadpool's head is the more common scene that's on the streaming and most other versions. But some DVD versions have the bar scene lol

DontBmad

this is like a Indian action hero movie.. the "action" scene are just goofy lol

Hurrakan

You may of recognised the "circus freak" light-bulb guy as Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry) in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Al Paka

Honestly? I'm glad you don't listen to people telling you what to leave out and what not to do. I think the film is great too.

Daniel Morgan

I with you Kali. I LOVED this film when there's alot of haters. 😊 And about the Deadpool in this movie, just continue watching the Deadpool movies, just to double confirm he's not the same one. 😊

L.G.M.

"Ruined" one iteration of Deadpool. Of several Deadpool & Wolverine timelines... The rest of the comics are still there. I won't ever understand the controversy lol

L.G.M.

Wrong?? Different comic book timelines and iterations but Hollywood does one itself and its "wrong"? Its a different X-Men universe, like a different comic run is, thats all.

RP

Bingo, it’s a shame they revised Sabretooth so much in the movies and muddled up what I think is Wolverine’s most iconic enemy in the books. Still worth watching and a great reaction by you Kali! 🍻

Edgar Gonzalez

It's wrong man, its just wrong. I can't explain it... But its wrong 😢

RP

I know you’re gonna love ‘The Wolverine’ 🍻

David L

Deadpool being portrayed like that was the issue for me and a lot of people. They obviously had the best actor to play the Merc with a mouth and totally messed it up. Other than that I enjoyed this movie overall. Great reaction,Kali! Have a great day!🙂

Paul T

On your opening comment, it's why I will ALWAYS say, watch and determine for yourself if you like it or not. People have different tastes. It annoys me when I see people say skip this one because it's no good. They are not you or me so how do they know whether someone will like or not like something. Glad you enjoyed it and made that decision on your own viewing. Also, and again, i say this too, whether a movie or show is good or bad in someones opinion, it still plays into the bigger picture of the series of shows or movies. By skipping one or more, you miss back stories that might be relevant in later shows or movies. Even "bad" shows or movies have important parts to them! Been a long time since I've seen it do getting ready to watch with you.

kaliwali

yessss! couldn't place it but yes!

kaliwali

ooo at least they still told Magneto's origin story! I want to know!

kaliwali

woah that's strange we got different end credit scenes 😅 streaming services

kaliwali

I definitely didn't put Merry together in this one! You're right!

kaliwali

i had no idea ryan reynolds went through all of that for deadpool 😱 that's wild!

Paul T

Loved your line " Let's make him indestructible then piss him off " lmao Exactly what they did 😂😂

JP.Dangerously

Yeah, I definitely get why a lot of people didn't like this movie... But I did! It's not a faithful retelling of Wolverine's story, but it's still enjoyable. Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool was cast perfectly, my friends all said even back in 2009. I had no idea who Deadpool was at the time, so this was my introduction to the "merc with a mouth." I was told they ruined that character by sewing his mouth closed, and that I needed to check out the real Desdpool, which led me to the comics. I am so glad I did, because he became my favorite Marvel character that year. Would never have been able to predict that we'd actually get a Deadpool movie 7 years later. I'm really glad you checked this one out, and that you liked it! With all of its flaws, it's still a fun movie.

Eric May

I enjoyed this movie very much…well, until they totally bungled poor Wade. Worst part"? He no longer could talk? Just such a hard disappointment for everyone. Very glad Ryan just Had to come back and get him right at last. But yes, you will definitely love going back and watching Deadpool again now, as Ryan plays off it a few times. So thank you very much for watching this movie!

Renato Stojanovic

I really like this movie and liked your reaction to it. It's a good movie despite how it fits into comic books or other series. This is the Deadpool I liked since I saw this when it came out. The new Deadpool movies are stupid imo. I wish they went with a mute ryan reynolds. It would have been better than the annoying asshole in newer movies, but since he's an annoying, childish asshole irl, the studio succomed to his qualities and went with it bc they knew they would make money off of it.
