Okay, I love these movies! 😱 The atmosphere, the acting, the music, the STORY.

This one took everything that made the first movie so powerful and somehow turned up the dial?? I feel like my eyes were leaking through most of it LOL. Katniss has changed so much. And I don't blame her.. The games haunt the 'victors' for the rest of their lives. Look at Haymitch. But watching her struggle with the trauma of everything, while being forced to pretend she's okay and 'in love' for the Capitol was so harsh and heartbreaking to watch.

But what's incredible is that her simple act of survival became a symbol of hope for the entire nation 👀 She didn't ask for this either.. Which makes it even more beautifully tragic.

The world felt so much bigger in this movie! The other victors, the riots, the tour turned sour because Katniss fueled a fire inside everyone's hearts. But also watching the other survivors who turned into celebrities become prisoners again... INSANELY powerful stuff. And I loved realizing there was so much more happening beneath the surface.

And PEETA. That man honestly has my whole heart... It's hard not to agree with Haymitch when he said Katniss doesn't deserve him lol. His love for her feels like one of the very few genuinely gentle things left in this cruel world. But I feel like maybe.. Katniss could be realizing she loves him too? 👀

The ending was INSANE. The arena catching fire, the rebellion unfolding, District 12 just gone, and Peeta & Joanna captured?! I felt so many emotions in that final few scenes all I could do was sit and watch with an open mouth. I'm so excited (and scared) to see where this goes next 🔥🙀 See you all there next week!

Double Drop! Kaliwali is spoiling us today!!!!

Movie reaction double-header tonight (I'm watching BND right now as I type this)! I haven't seen Catching Fire in ages, so I'm excited to re-watch this and with your reactions! I remember reading the books years ago and enjoying them, so I'm looking foward to watching all the movies with you again. Thanks for all the great content you are putting out!

Chuckles1004

Kali busy today. Thanks! Hi! 🙋‍♂️

Nina

this came out right before True Detective season 1. So Woody was shooting this back to back ❤

Let's gooo, thanks for the reaction kali <3

Peeta is the one who painted the mural of Rue. It's explained more in the books, but he did it as an act of protest to hold the Capitol accountable for her death. The Capitol covers the mural up before Katniss can see it, and we only know about it from Peeta telling us later. They changed it for the movies.

And Katniss doesn't know what he's done, but can tell when she walks in after him that the Capitol people seem upset about something Peeta had done, so she did the thing with the dummy that looked like Seneca Crane to take attention away from him.

2 movies on Halloween! The first was with Peter and the second has Peeta. You did this on purpose, I know you did!

Boy, Marty really changed after they caught that killer huh? I am realizing how little I remember from these movies. Some stuff is there but a lot of it is fuzzy. Always makes these reactions more fun when it's a semi first for me as well. I guess this isn't a safe place to say I'm not a fan of Coldplay? lol

The last one was also a force field barrier it just wasn't shown. The fire was specifically for Katniss to push her towards the career pack, not a battle Royale style closing barrier.

Morgen Roberts

You spoke over it at the end but as Plutarch was explaining it to Katniss he said "half of the tributes were in on it"

Alexander Ocean

REVOLUTIONNNNNN, cant wait for the next ones!!!

Morgen Roberts

I wanna be clear this is NOT being critical of anything, you were rightly panicking about Peeta lol

Mister Lou

Nice one! Can't wait for some Mocking Jay's!

Same here. I read the books and watched the movies once when they came out, but never a second time until now. I forgot just how heavy these are, which is probably why I never went back to watch them again. I still remember all the promotions for these movies, it was huge when it came out.

Sam

Awesome, can't wait to watch this later today, glad you liked this so much, I hope we don't have to wait as long for the final parts :D

I think perhaps you invested all your thoughts towards the characters as individuals - good or bad, pure or evil, allies or enemies etc. to the point that you neglected to factor in the nature of the games/strategy of the capitol. If you're in the hunger games your choice isn't fight each other or fight the capitol, your choices are die to each other or die to the arena. It captures the essential theme of the story - how can they fight us if they're too busy fighting each other, with not enough power to change the tides. Refusing to kill each other wouldn't have achieved anything, except perhaps a prolonged, more painful death. Like you can assume most people don't go in genuinely wanting to kill anyone, but it is quite literally kill or be killed.

The more the movie unraveled the mystery of this arena with the time & different fatal elements going off the more I came to this conclusion. This arena was wildly different from the first & so was the way they interacted with it & each other because of the circumstances this time around.

kaliwali

Ooooooh!!! Wow that makes a lot more sense. Thank you for explaining that whole thing!

I think it would be fair to say that the nature of the arena was certainly amplified precisely to drive that point home for this one - but conceptually it wasn’t anything new. Twenty three deaths wasn’t just a goal, it was a mandate to be assured, one way or another. From the beginning Snow is cold and calculating and wants the flame of rebellion continually snuffed out, so a hunger games that enabled any semblance of resistance or hope…well, ask Seneca Crane. It’s also worth noting the eerie resemblance of the capitol to that of parasocial obsession with celebs and content creators. The capitol might be invested in Katniss and Peeta, but ultimately…to the people of the capitol, they’re a love story. And people love a tragic love story, just as dehumanising as how tabloids treat famous women, men too. The similarities are uncomfortably plain.

Great reaction except for last 10 min or so when everything gets revealed and you stepped on a key piece of dialog bc u were confused and thinking out loud. 😂 (rightfully so btw) i get it. U have to voice what you're thinking bc it's a reaction channel. No biggie though. Also, Peeta is the one who did painting of Rue as an act of defiance to the Gamemakers, forcing them to acknowledge her death instead of brushing her off like another statistic. In the book, Peeta tells Katniss he did it and why, unlike the movie leaving it open ended like that. Pissed me off when I first saw it too. It lingered in my mind like with u, lol.
