April Release: Mysterious Artefact Purse (BG3 Inspired) (Patreon)
Content
Our latest purse is here and this one is for the Baldur’s Gate 3 fans.
Introducing our Mysterious Artefact Purse, inspired by Shadowheart's iconic artefact from BG3 and designed to open and function like a real, wearable bag. It opens in a similar way to our D20 purse, but this design has sharper, pointed geometry, so we had to rethink the hinge system to keep everything smooth and reliable.
Design Challenges
Because of the pointed corners, the top panels could not open cleanly with the same approach as our D20 purse. We designed a new hinge system so the top leaves clear the pointed corners as they open and close, while still keeping the motion satisfying and the fit secure.
This purse is also sized to be practical, with an interior layout large enough to fit most modern large phones, even with a case.
Build volume requirement
This is a bigger build than our D20 purse. To print the main components at the intended size you will need a minimum build volume of 250 mm x 250 mm. We went bigger so the bag can comfortably fit most modern phones without compromising the shape.
What is included
You receive:
Mysterious Artefact purse body and lid components
Two hinge options:
Standard accordion hinge
Accordion hinge with slots for 5 x 3 mm round magnets to help keep the top leaves better oriented while closing (optional)
Multi colour .3MF project files with pre assigned colour regions for AMS or other multi material setups (Bambu Studio and generic slicer formats)
Files for this month are provided to active Drake and Ancient Dragon patrons through Google Drive during the release month. Once the models are available on MyMiniFactory, you will receive a reward link so you can add them to your MyMiniFactory library.

Hardware and strap options
To complete the physical bag you will need:
3 x 25 mm O rings (attached to the base)
Optional - 7 additional 25 mm O rings (or short chain equivalent) to connect rear O ring fasteners. Not needed if using a long chain and doubling it through the fasteners as described below.
10 x 6x2 mm round magnets to keep the top leaves closed
Optional - 10 x 5x3 mm round magnets if using the magnetic hinges to aid with keeping the according hinges oriented while closing
Glue for magnets (We recommend E6000, but any strong adhesive would likely be fine)
Shoulder strap:
Use a purchased strap, or 3D print a chain
Printable chain option (works well scaled up):Use the “Easy Chain” model from Printables and scale as needed. We had good success with 150 links scaled to 145%, though you may want to remove a few links to fit your preferred length.
Assembly Instructions
Glue ten 6 x 2 mm magnets into the magnet pockets on the top leaves. Alternate polarity as you place them. We recommend E6000 glue but wait at least 8 hours before use after gluing.
Optional - Install ten 5 x 3 mm magnets into the accordion hinges if using the magnet variant
Install the 3D printed hinges into the hinge channels on the D20 base matching the lettered hinges with their corresponding slot and orientation. Ensure the slant of the hinge is facing outwards when folded. The corresponding top leaves can then be install over top of the hinges.
Use three 25 mm O rings for joinery at the strap connection points
Shoulder strap options:
Daisy chain + shoulder strap:
Connect rear O ring fasteners with a 7-linked daisy chain of O rings (or similar chain)
Attach your strap to the front O ring and to the middle of the rear daisy chain
Long 3D printed chain (or equivalent):
Connect one end of the long chain to the front O ring
Thread through the back two O rings
Connect the other end back to the front O ring, creating a doubled-over shoulder strap
