So the directors of the movie have stated that while the wish o willow is based off the monkeys paw and more specifically an episode of the Simpsons of all things, the willow has no drawbacks, it does exactly what you wish for with no retaliation from police or anything like that, the problem with bears wish aside from the fact that its an evil wish that takes away Nikkis consent and choice, is the way he worded it when he says he wishes she loved him more than anything in the world, something nobody can do healthily hence the title obsession

Also unfortunately for Nikki, according to the directors she does get caught by the police although its unknown if she goes to prison for the multiple homicides or is institutionalized

Genuinely didn't and still don't get the hype, it's not like it's even been a slim year for movies. Companion is all over this if you want a modern psycho partner thing.

Finally just gave this movie a watch after seeing all the memes and talks around it 😂 A looooot of it could have been avoided if Bear had better communication skills and was more decisive to do the right thing. I swear, Bear is the type of guy who would not say a thing and start eating the wrong food that the waiter/waitress accidentally brought to his table at a restaurant... and he also seems totally clueless about getting the hints. Weird. He's definitely the villain. I would say that ending yourself is not easy to do, so I can see why he is chickening out of that, but still. When Nikki snapped back to herself at the end, she seemed a bit confused and shocked of what was going on, hopefully she has no memories of everything that happened! The backwards walk she did was creepy though, she acted well. Interesting film, worth the watch
