The Karate Kid Part II is a 1986 American martial arts drama film written by Robert Mark Kamen and directed by John G. Avildsen. It is the second installment in the Karate Kid franchise and the sequel to the 1984 film The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. The Karate Kid Part II follows Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), who accompanies his karate teacher Mr. Miyagi (Morita) to see his dying father in Okinawa, only to encounter an old friend-turned-rival with a long-harbored grudge against Miyagi.

Won't be able to watch on YouTube later :( I started typing out real-time thoughts as I watched this but it was getting way too long so I'll just say I'm glad you enjoyed the movie! Chozen's story is fully concluded in Cobra Kai, if you get around to watching that. I remember watching these as a kid when they came out and everyone was running around for weeks after pretending to do karate moves on everyone else. So ridiculous... but we had our fun!

I'm 100% with you that I prefer this to the original, the music especially... but the film was actually shot in Hawaii. I think you're the first person I've seen concerned that Daniel was wearing jeans during the fight.... I mean, it's a valid point. I liked 3, but you're especially gonna want to watch it if you want to move on to Cobra Kai (which I'm sure you'll love, everybody who starts with the films does).

Really enjoyed your reaction! This movie is a great example of how to do a sequel right. It doesn't try to remake the first film and takes things in a distinctly new direction, but retains the primary element of the first movie that made it special. The father-son dynamic of Myagi and Daniel.

You have to watch the 3rd one so you can watch Cobra Kai which u will love.

I prefer the original more. This was I enjoyed, but the first one bring Miyagi and Daniel together and the 2nd one, we already know these two, and we have a new location, but mostly the same. I do enjoy this one, I hope you do continue with the 3rd one.

#3 is generally considered to be the weakest one, but it has some great moments - and it’s essential viewing for Cobra Kai (which is fantastic and you should definitely check out). Would love for you watch 3!

I agree, you need to finish it with three.
