Hi hi everyone! I know I mentioned that tonight was going to be “ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK”, but I’ve had a tiny setback with it, and it looks like it’ll be up tomorrow instead. So for tonight, we’re now doing “WHAT’S UP, DOC?” Hope you’re all up for another 70s film. See you there! 🖤

WHAT'S UP, DOC? (1972) - MOVIE REACTION - First Time Watching

What's Up, Doc? is a 1972 American screwball comedy film directed by Peter Bogdanovich, and starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal. It was intended to pay homage to comedy films of the 1920s, '30s, and '40s, especially Bringing Up Baby and Warner Bros. Bugs Bunny cartoons. Hello everyone and welcome to The Coby Show! I'm already there! That "1 waiting" is me!

Haha I'm doing this backwards.... I'm going to watch the full watch along for Escape from New York tonight then this over on YouTube tomorrow.

Wally Hartshorn

I love this movie! I'm glad someone is finally reacting to it! Edit: The full watch along was posted on July 8, for those (like me) who missed it.

I remember the title of this movie but never saw it. I am looking forward to seeing your smiling face tonight Coby!! 😊 oh, and your unique "lazy eye"! I love it . It gives you some mystique to your persona. ☺️

I might have seen What’s up Doc 1972 or 1973. Not sure 🤷🏼‍♂️. My memory is really foggy on this one 🤔. Watching it now. Then perhaps I can watch your reaction to it.

This is how you do comedy. "What's Up, Doc?" was inspired by and meant to pay homage to "Bringing Up Baby", specifically, and the "screwball" comedy movies that ruled the box-office back in the thirties and forties, in general. The film ended up being the second-biggest hit of the year, after The Godfather.

One of my favorite comedies!

Is this the YT Edit, no full watch along?

I just watched the movie and then immediately watched your reaction to it. It was a lot of fun. One question for you, at the end when Judy says “Love means never having to say you’re sorry” did you know that was a line from “Love Story” (1970), which also stared Ryan O’Neil? By the way you laughed and then laughed when Howard said “that’s dumbest thing I ever heard” it seemed like perhaps you had seen “Love Story” and realized the irony.

If you like Ryan O’Neal, it’s a must to see his 1973 movie Paper Moon. In Paper Moon, Ryan teams up with his daughter Tatum O’Neal. Tatum O’Neal’s performance won her the 1973 Oscar for best supporting actress… at the seasoned age of eight years old. An Oscar at eight, that’s how good this movie was. Incidentally, Madeline Kahn, who plays Eunice in What’s Up Doc is also in Paper Moon.

Does anyone have a problem with WHATS UP DOC not being a full watch on the patreon site?? I know I’m a member but don’t find the full watch.

I’m guessing Coby didn’t post the full watch? Maybe Cash got into the editing software…lol

Paper Moon. THAT is the Bogdonavich movie I'm dying for you to see! Definitely put that on the list! PS: Always up for a 70's movie!

Clifford Mayle n Diggs!

Oooh What's Up Doc! haven't seen this since I was a kid! Maybe '75ish? On HBO. Very funny film. I'm always in for anything Streisand! My mom is a true Streisand stan! I'll catch this tonight :) Thanks Coby!

The Last Picture Show is an excellent film done by Bogdanovich too. I'm not super big on Paper Moon. That does not mean you shouldn't watch or post your reaction. Super critically acclaimed film!

Coby, I’ve now suggested this movie and Zero Effect (which really deserves a YT edit). You loved both. I’d now suggest Sex, Lies, and Videotape if you want to watch a late 80’s movie that doesn’t get enough respect.

For another great misplaced bags comedy, check out "Oscar" (1991). Sylvester Stallone, among others. :-)

I didn't remember anything about this movie, except that I saw it as a kid (because it was on tv and my mom wanted to watch it). Barbra Streisand is a really good singer, though. even WHAT she sings isn't what you'd usually listen to. (Neil Diamond is like that, too...)
