Well she's very abrasive and she's a woman and people tend to not like bitchy, women as characters. I'm not saying this to be sexist. It's just an observation for how women like her are normally received online. Like Skylar White and this is coming from someone who didn't like skylar when I was younger, but understand her position better as i've gotten older. I think as the story progresses and you find more and more about her past. I think people were probably covering on her character like, for example, she has a terrible drinking problem. Obviously she has it for reason.

The scientific method is a process of elimination, continually refining our understanding of things by ruling out incorrect ideas and strengthening out the most likely and most tested ones. They ARE gonna tell her how to fix it, whether they want to or not. They literally CANT lie, so she just has the right questions and even if they don't answer her, it's an answer. Ofc it'll be a back and forth where they try to beat around the bush and not answer questions that lead to their own downfall, but it won't matter in the end once Carol and the others rule out what DOESN'T work. TBH though, I think the show's tagline potentially spoils the show and she just has to make them depressed again and again to sever the individual's connection to the hivemind.

Edit: Also, unless the "cure" is something simple to make and/or spread it wouldn't work worldwide. Think about it, if it's something that has to be injected you'd have to inject every person in the world. If it's aerosolized like when Carol and Helen were at the bar, it would still need to be done worldwide AND you would need to find a way to spread it even over something as small as a city. The people in the hive (probably) wouldn't help with that.

The Justices actually speak on the legal implications, in the article itself, of what's apparently 'talk therapy' for a doctor/individual to determine someone's sexuality and then aim to either affirm or change it. While I do find it alarming that people, doctors, whoever out there are trying to change/affirm any kind of sexuality instead of letting people decide on their own, you are engaging in alarmism; as if to suggest that conversion therapy is as common as parking lots and bus stops across the country. What is ACTUALLY concerning is that there has not been a proper addressing of this primitive practice and its counterpart for decades in the modern century, nor a unified push for legislation that effectively bans conversation therapy/affirmation therapy nationwide. However, for the most part, major health organizations condemn the practice nationwide and the vast majority of conversion therapy pseudoscience is underground. It'd be better if there was legislation that pushed for a federal ban, though.

Fact 1: conversion therapy is legal and fairly common in many states in America, because of the lack of a federal ban. Fact 2: the only states it's not legal in are blue states such as Colorado. Fact 3: the Supreme Court seems very likely to strike down state bans on conversion therapy, meaning it'll be legal in every single state. Nothing in your long diatribe disproves any of those facts. The article is just one example of coverage of the case, and it also agrees that the justices seem likely to strike down bans on conversion therapy.

Carol gave herself a small dose but the one she gave Zosia was massive. That drug in large amounts can cause low blood pressure, heart arrhythmia, and can lead to cardiac arrest. She was 100% responsible for that. Also, according to the Zosia actress they were crying because they felt sad for Carol that she felt she had to resort to that in order to not join them. So ultimately it was a futile attempt in which she learnt nothing. Also, the virus was lysogenic meaning it gene edited the host. Carol isn't reversing that by herself.

They're not going to tell (they literally said that) but even if they did what is Carol going to do about it? The virus they synthesised was a lysogenic virus, which is something that adds code to the genome of the host. Essentially the virus rewrote the human race's DNA. She'd have to create an entirely new virus or use CRISPR technology to remove the code. It is technically possible but absolutely impossible for her to do.

my only issue is that helen not telling Carol anything about how she really felt. How are you gonna sit in this woman face, tell her you read her whole book, say it amazing, say she should publish it and then turn around and be like it's meh. It has nothing to do with if helen is apart of her audience, if she felt like to book was meh or it could be better, she should've said that, not keep carol in the same writing space that won't get her any farther than what she was doing the first episode. Carol was literally miserable at those book signings and it was probably because she thought she could do better but she wasn't getting any contructive criticisim.

There's a thing called purple prose, which is when word choice distracts from the flow of a story. Sometimes thats because of way too many metaphors, overly long sentences, or uneccessary complicated vocab, but its basically the thing not-great writers do to make their writing sound more advanced than it is. The "romantasy" genre Carol's work is part of is full of that shit, and I'd be shocked if this show was expecting us to believe Carol was a really good writer rather than just a really popular one.

the premise of this show is interesting but i keep waiting for the plot to progress (or arrive at all tbh)… four episodes in, some of the beats are starting to feel repetitive. (in my opinion!!) carol wakes up, she hates life, she yells at some hive members for mowing her lawn or burying her wife or whatever, she then asks the hive for help anyway, and corners one of them to berate them on how to fix everything. since it’s vince gilligan, i’m holding out and hoping the next episode or this new character kicks things into gear. i enjoy a slow burn but i want to feel like we’re GOING somewhere.

Even if Carol can fix this, the world is still cooked. Over a billion people dead. Imagine coming back from having someone you lost only to lose them again. Imagine the secrets that people learned, all the horrible stuff done and by who. Even if no one will remember anything, it'll be like falling asleep and waking up to a totally different world. They moved resources around, moved people around, they freed animals from zoo's and probably other places and who knows what other things they changed or did. Most of the government is dead (in the case of the US) and others are probably the same. How do you even begin to fix the mess that comes after?

Actually.... Sheera and the gang don't seem to remember the basic info the hivemind already gave earlier about what they can help with and what they can't... The Hivemind responses are following the "rules" they already told us AND Carol about, so its not really "withholding information" if you remember the "rules." They had already told us they wouldn't help with finding a "cure" because they see the hivemind as a happier sense of being than individuality, and also they apparently have a "biological imperative" to seek to convert everyone into a hivemind.. And if its about withholding Helen's actual feelings about Carol's books (also general consensus about Carol's books all being positive).. that also falls in line with their "rules" of the hivemind: Doing everything they can to make/keep the 13 people happy.. Here Carol would not be happy with bad reviews and negative feelings from Helen about Carol's books... I guess I will have to add that I am not necessarily supporting one way or the other.. Hivemind having a lack of individuality sucks, but overall I guess there will be less damage done to the surroundings/Earth if they are following their "rules".. at least from what we have seen so far. I am still waiting for the show to tell me why it needed Carol/The MC to be "the most miserable person on earth," like why did the character trait/description need to be that specifically? Carol wanting to reverse it is fine, but people supporting Carol have been missing A LOT of context/reasonings behind her motivations/actions... Carol has nothing now after Helen died, which is probably the main (only) reason she wants to try to reverse the virus, but even BEFORE the virus.. Carol was still a miserable person.. aka.. not happy/finding faults about everything. (It is actually hilarious that Sheera called Carol "a perfectionist" because Carol wanted to know her book rankings and reviews and all... When the reason for Carol's fixation on rankings and numbers is actually Carol being a miserable and unhappy person, basically criticizing/being negative about everything.. finding reasons to be UNHAPPY... which is literally the character description of Carol... you know.. the show's literal tagline "The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.")
