Jason Marbach

My man Mollymauk was already one of my favorites, but the way they’re handling his abilities and his backstory have elevated him even further. Glad y’all are loving this so far!

Kisuke01

Guys I don't have anything to use in that Dr. Doofenshmirthz quote this episode 😔

E T

Was that Lupa casually asking for a threesome

Jason Marbach

I’m sure others will say too, but the frog girl (Toya) is voiced by Moana’s VA. They got 3 (supposedly there’s a 4th one later) different Disney princesses in the cast of this show. Crazy stacked cast.

Errr

Are y’all going to react to stranger things?

Jason Marbach

And Gustav is voiced by the real Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming, from X2)

Krype

Now we’re just missing the muscle mommy who happens to look like a whole dude from the end of episode 1 😮‍💨

Zurxciis

GIVE ME EPISODE 4, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!

Zacost

Those « I have a question » getting to freaky lately

mitch anderson

"Dandy as a De Rolo" says Percy's va

JT

they name dropped the de rolos from vox machina lol

StorySmith []

Fun fact: courage was the name of the alcohol Percy brought to Vex’s room. Right before they……well ya know

slavicandsapphic

U need to see more muscular women if u think Yasha looks like a dude 💀

Jamaal Ellison

Requesting For All Mankind on Apple TV.

alex amyot

Roshi not calling out if this was pierce? was painful.....

Doug_Eiffel

Lupa tapped into those Sherragans for a sec

Krype

It’s not really my fetish not a professional like you 😭

PJ Rivera

Fun fact toya is voiced by Auliʻi Cravalho aka Moana, for some reason they hired a bunch of disney princesses to VA and sing this season hell they even got Ming-Na Wen aka Mulan as well(the monk who sent beau on her mission)

ThatOneGuy

It’s funny cause in baldurs gate 3 it is recommended to have the min amount of points in strength in exchange of maxing out charisma for fjord’s class since it affects he’s spells . So he probably is physically weaker then jester 😂.

ccadalin

The Vox Machina easter eggs among the prizes that Jester can choose from. Grog, Pike, Percy, and Trinket.

Lurkingposter

Jester is actually jacked. She has the second strongest strength stat on the team.

Zacost

The switch from his face at 36:00 was funny

StorySmith []

To answer Roshi’s question about it being the same world yes it is just a different continent. All the campaigns take place in the same world I think mighty nine is a little bit into the future, but I’m not sure how relevant that is.

Xuda Art

I think the reason Caleb went to steal the beatles instead of Nott is because maybe they were too heavy for Nott to carry. Celeb came back with a whole crate of jars of beetles. Notts probably a little to small to have carried back as many as Caleb could have. And since they're very rare, he probably wanted to get as many as he could possibly carry

Miranda

What i love about the show is, vox machina is an established group of friends, while the mighty nein you see them build their friendships and their abilities grow stronger with their character development.

NotWhileImGaming

Jester=vex Caleb= vax Beau= keyleth Nott= scanlan Fjord=grog Molly=percy

slavicandsapphic

Wtf do u even mean by that??? All i said is that if you think Yasha looks like a man, u need to see more women with muscle. Yall fucking weird sometimes

PJ Rivera

For those confused this does take place in the same world as vox machina but a separate continent. Vox machina takes place in Tal Dorei and Nein in Wildemount

Krype

I don’t think you’re ready for the internet it really wasn’t that deep 💀

Bria A.

Fourth campaign (currently airing) is in a different world altogether, but the first three, yes!

Michael Ramirez

Yeah different continent with a heavy time-skip, it was also made clear back when it was just a D&D game that there would be very little to no crossover/references, so people wouldn't need to know anything about the first campaign. Now that it's animated, they don't mind easter eggs here and there, but it's still meant to be standalone.

StorySmith []

Yeah but a different guy is running that game and the player are separated into 3 different tables so it’s kinda a different thing entirely I kinda view the 3 campaigns, Vox Machina, mighty nine and Bell’s hells as a trilogy The ending of Al’s houses definitely felt like the wrap up of the entire world of exandria.

Bria A.

Mighty Nein and Vox Machina are in the same world, on different continents, roughly twenty years apart. There are crossovers, but I won't say what (and there are likely some added just for the show, anyway)! But fun fact: when Scanlan said he was going off to Nicodranas -- which is far away for him -- that's Jester's hometown that we saw last episode lol

Lurkingposter

Caleb stealing the bugs is more about proving himself and gaining confidence. He could also carry more beetles. Lol!

Adonis Vining

Yasha/ The barbian from end of episode one is Pikes VA

Sam

Fun fact! Moana has the same voice actress as the singing elf girl, Toya! 😀

Jason Marbach

It’s also Percy’s family’s vintage

JadonTheEternal

If anything Lupa, it's more Beau's fault than Caleb's. He successfully stole the beetles, they only got loose because Beau tackled Nott and started fighting them

Bria A.

Accents: Vax (and Vex) are meant to be vaguely fantasy British while Caleb is meant to be intentionally fantasy German, but Liam softened the accent for the show. He's like VERY German in the campaign lmao. Molly is Irish (a lot more seamless in the show than in the game), Fjord is British masquerading as Texan, Jester is sort of generic Eastern European, and there's another PC accent that started out Nordic but didn't really hold up, not sure about the show version. Mollymauk is a class called a Blood Hunter, which isn't really an official D&D character class, but Matt Mercer made it himself so it sort of became the unofficial fourteenth class. As you can probably guess by the name and his fight scene... blood related powers lol.

Requiem_Phantom

The toad wasn't actually any of their fault. I won't directly spoil, but go back and look at the eyes of the toad when it goes crazy. The color should remind you of something. The beetles just distracted it, not made it crazy.

Bria A.

Running joke in-game (and likely in-show) that he's scrawny, particularly for a half-orc but also just in general lmao. And Jester is very strong, so it makes it even funnier.

ShaquanVirse

Remember Roshi, these were campaigns lol

Bria A.

Yeah, sometimes people do shit that isn't optimal just because they want to lol. But to be fair, the specific beetle thing was added for the show. I think the most obvious answer is multiple jars, much less a whole crate, would be too heavy for Nott.

Bria A.

I'm gonna be so real, they gave up on the 'no crossovers/references' thing almost immediately to the point where several connections are plot-significant haha. I agree that those things won't show up for several seasons in the respective shows though

CJ Thornton

Plus you've got Tiana as Marion, the one that threw me off tho was Tim McGraw as Fjords captain

Cerin Draco

Not gonna lie they showing some stuff I was kind of hoping wouldve kept under wraps so people experience it the way those of us who watched the actual campaign did... Fjord's voice... Molly's eyes... Caleb's origins... but mostly im a little irritated by the groups being different... it was supposed to be Beau, Fjord, and Jester. Caleb and Nott. Yasha and Molly. Also Gustav died... still entertaining but I feel like it'll detract from some of the characters bonds that they developed before becoming the nein...

CJ Thornton

Fun fact: When Fjord and Jester go past the mirror that makes them look "human", its literally just showing their VAs, Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham

Disoma

I can't take this show seriously. The entire cast is so hot 😭😭😭. The characters in Legend of Vox Machina were cool, but all the main characters in this show just blow them out of the water.

Cory

Yeah, they are changing up how magic works in the show. All magic classes (afaik) use spell components for most spells, but they have changed it to be only wizards that need em (so far at least).

Dyastro123

Then it's nott's fault for stealing stuff that does belong to her?

JadonTheEternal

I mean, sure. I could go backwards further even if you really wanted to, but that feels a little pendantic, obviously Beau tackling Nott was the most direct event that led to all that shit starting.

Disoma

Then its Molly's fault for bringing the demon toad. That at a drop of a dime could kill everyone inside of the tent.

@llM1ghty

Fun Fact: The mirror scene where you see Fjord and Jester human reflection is actually the voice actors and husband and wife who played their characters on Critical Role.

Jamaal Ellison

I'm reading the comments and judging from them people seem to really be fucking with the show.

Jamaal Ellison

I grew up loving anime, and before I found subtitled versions, Funimation was my go-to for a while. I've been following most of their careers with great interest, watching them go from doing voice acting for others to making their own businesses and succeeding at starting their own IP, voicing characters they created. I'm so proud of them.

ShaquanVirse

Fun Fact: The mirror scene where you see Fjord and Jester human reflection is actually the voice actors and husband and wife who played their characters on Critical Role

Alex

Sinister sex part 10

Ronnie

TM9 is definitely the most beloved campaign of theirs; character and story wise.

Ronnie

They've said numerous times that the show was going to be different from the table game. The beginning of TM9 table game is difficult to adapt because it's so disjointed for a good while. For the TV adaptation they had to pull the group together quickly but in a believable way. Changes were needed, but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate the original campaign either. I for one am execited to see how the show does.

Jamaal Ellison

This was a fuck up of epic proportions the mighty nein has to spend at least neinty years in prison for all the innocent people who died.

Jason Marbach

Also, Nott was the only one dexterous enough to climb up to that high vantage point and keep a lookout

Jason Marbach

That, and Nott was more dexterous and was better equipped to climb up high for the lookout thing. (Also, the plot needed Caleb to be the one to do it, for character reasons, but it also just makes sense as well, it’s not really forced or whatever)

Dyastro123

Yeah, this whole thing was cooked the moment a monstrous toad was "tamed" And about blaming beau.......once again you could blame the wizard guy for taking so damn much. I doubt he needed that much.....and it probably wouldn't have been as bad if it was only a couple flies that got out

Jason Marbach

Nah, the show is already better than the campaign to this point was and it’s going to continue being better because they have the freedom (without dice, and being able to move around to different things happening concurrently that we never had a way to see during the AP) to shuffle things and tell a better story. Gotta trust. And if this story, which they’ve said repeatedly is going to be different, doesn’t hit for you, cool. Go back and watch the actual play again.

Jaelyn Mcgee

Nice. I was wondering if they were going to keep the "you can reply to this message" Bit from the game

Jaelyn Mcgee

The Lolipop Hammer is what Jester's main attack spell Spiritual Weapon manifests as in the game so its cool how it was introduced here as part of the carnival

Frederick

39:15 Bro just activated a Devil Trigger

Sam

They're doing a great job putting all this together in a fresh, newish way. Glad you guys are liking it!

Spellmonger Jake

Caleb - Vax Nott - Scanlan Jester - Vex Fjord - Grog Beauregard - Keyleth Mollymock - Percy Big Sword Lady - Pike

NiyaNii

what I saw said that this is like 20 years after vox machina, tal'dorei was the place they were at in the first season. Molly also mentioned the de rolos which is percy and cassandra's last name

Aspis

vax-caleb / jester-vex /beau-keyleth/ nott-snanlan/ molly-percy/ fjord-grog /big lady at the end of ep 1- pike

thatNEET_

15:48 What is Sheera yapping about? XD

thatNEET_

A lot of people know what causes scurvy, but most people don't know what it looks like. Basically, your wounds stop healing and your teeth start to fall out. It also makes your skin more fragile, so avoiding an unhealing wound is more difficult than it sounds. You'll eventually start bleeding internally and die.

Fizzy 🐉

Watching this while at work is a blessing 🙏🙏🙏

Courtney

with the amount of jars caleb stole i dont think nott would have been able to carry the crate, which is why i think they sent caleb! only explanation i can think of

thatNEET_

I love the conversation between the cleric and the warlock (Jester and Fjord) about their respective imaginary friends. I've never thought about it before, but a warlock's patron is just like a cleric's deity. The main difference is that warlocks don't have to worship their deity, and sometimes they don't even like them!

WillGlacier

both series (Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein) take place in the same world, just that Mighty Nein is set 20 or so years into the future. We even hear characters say stuff like "dandy as a De Rolo" (Like Percy De Rolo) or "lass of Tal'dorei" like the continent of Tal'dorei where vox machina takes place Also about the mirror that showed Fjiord and Jester as humans, that was their voice actors in the reflection lmao. Jester is a tiefling (teiflings are born either from two tiefling parents or from some kind of demonic blood in your family lineage, like if your great grandma did it with a demon, then way down the line a tiefling is born, but that's just one of the scenarios) Fjord is a half orc (again, either born from 2 half orcs or from a orc and a human)

Oliver

15:32 Wtf is Luffy doing here? Roshi 7:05 he also says the "De Rolo" name which was Percy's last name the guy with the demon gun and glasses. This show is about 20-25 after Vox Machina, but on a different continent 32:24 Devil Toad Lupa: Demon Frog Hahaha 35:53 i fucking love your reactions when some clown shit is involved LMFAO

David James

Noho Hank reincarnated as a tiefling

Nick

Them guess every va wrong it throwing me

TheHud257

Sheera was getting absolutely COOKED today 😂 what?????

vash_yy

btw, the humans in the mirror were Fjord's and Jester's VAs :D

King97

I was wondering about that

King97

7:08 I missed that joke. "As dandy as a de Rolo." Percy de Rolo"

I VisiBomb I

never made the connection but molly and moon knight seem very similar after this episode.

Gilthwixt

I really wish they'd read the comments man the fact they think Jester is Pyke and not Vex/Invisigal is throwing me, they need to knowwww 😭

Bria A.

At this point y'all just be calling "characters having sex in general" sinister sex lmfao. It's funny to me given that there is a canonical instance of extremely sinister sex in this specific campaign

Bria A.

Likewise on the Funimation love. I will remind anyone that Laura Bailey is Kid Trunks / Liam is Gaara (despite me honestly not having watched much of Naruto) / half of them were in Ouran High School Host Club whenever I can lol.

Jamaal Ellison

That's where I first remember hearing Liam's voice over work i remember Travis was FMA and Mathew was also in Naruto.

Rei Zero

The toad is just a chatacabra from monster hunter wilds

Radoras

yeah, cleric: worship & service in return for power Warlock: usually some kind of pact or Faustian bargain; you get agreed upon (in some way) powers in exchange for something the Patron expects from you in return

èé o_O

they said dandy as a de rolo too

Mrlanie

re: the tusks, pretty sure Fjord is a half-orc and he was getting bullied by some racist orc’s for being mixed

Moeist Seza

heads up this show is set 20 years after vox machina ends on a different continent. so like if a spin off of an American show set 20 years in the future in asia

Bria A.

Not quite, but given that they made a point of highlighting it in the show I'm pretty sure this is a detail that will be openly revealed later to the audience (likely when the group actually starts getting to know each other). Half-orc part is true, though; he is.

Bria A.

Travis *and* Laura for FMA/FMA:B! Laura was Lust. Funny thing is they were casual coworkers first while he was trying to break into the Texas VA scene, and then Travis hit up her agent to try and get a part on DBZ lmao. They did a few more things together over the years before he ended up with Funimation.

rrrebo

Pike was a gnome, and no, Ashley's character is Yasha. Jester's VA is Laura Bailey, who played Vex'ahlia. Fjord is voiced by her husband, Travis Willingham, who voiced Grog. Laura and Travis also voiced Lust and Roy Mustang in FMAB.

kai. 🩶

sheera was saying a bunch of hoopla for beau lmaooooo

maseken

The mirror scene, where Fjord and Jester look human, that's just animators drawing the actual voice actors

fishNlemon

fyord is a half orc ,and orcs reaaaaaaaly don't like mixed

Spriggz

My thought for Nott not stealing the bugs is because the crate of them would have possibly been to heavy to carry.

Bria A.

The half-orc part is true in this case because Matt has an in-universe racial name specifically for half-orc half-elves, but every time someone makes the assumption that the half races absolutely have to be half-human I want to urge them to get creative lmao

Kyle Garrett

As people have said, yes this takes place in the same world as Legend of Vox Machina. BUT it's about 20 years after them and on a different continent. There are 3 completed campaigns [Vox Machina/Mighty Nein/Bells Hells] that are all connected so if this does REALLY well HOPEFULLY we'll get the 3rd later to tie it all together.

Adrian Locke

Frog nigga w dreads is insane work LMAOOOOOO

Adrian Locke

“You’re a nigga, you know that?” Lupa LMAOOOOOOOOOOO

I VisiBomb I

wish they'd finish the first campaign and second campaign and only then start to work on the 3rd. I really didn't like some of the characters in the 3rd campaign, while I can't really say that about the first 2.

Joseph C Gdaniec

I do wonder what the decision on the voice direction choice for Liam's character Caleb was because during the campaign he sounded much more German with a much heavier accent that made it easy to not think of Vax when he was talking. I wonder if they were recording this first season of Mighty Nein at the same time as doing voice work for Vox Machina and that is why Liam sounds so much more like Vax than he did during campaign two at the table.

Wizard

Dang a just noticed the head circus guy said “everything will be as dandy as a de Rolo” like Percy de Rolo from Vox Machina, I didn’t know the worlds were connected so that’s cool

Asstolfo

hes also percy's va

vesra

not the frigga 😭😭

Tabbs

HE PLAYED SILKSONG? Did he stream it?

PJ Rivera

Same universe different continent

zay

yeah he streamed it to the end of act 2 the vods are on youtube

Mervyn Larrier

They missed the "dandy as a deRollo line." Same world but set in the future

the_remora

I think is because he softened Caleb's accent as they played. Also your probably right that the lines for Vax and Caleb were recorded around the same time.

the_remora

I agree, I came in about episode 25 of campaign 2, skipping 1 entierly. I bounced hard off of campaign 3. Campaign 4 though... It's good stuff.

Shiki Granbell

LMAO, my name is Dalon because my mom used that exact Dave Chapelle skit of Dylon as inspiration. Was not expecting that reference

sol jam

I love how monster frogs gives people Groal flashbacks now, the PTSD is real

Fred

Ik yo mom got jokes for days lmao chapelle show funny asf

ViralCorgi

Can't tell if they're the protagonists or antagonists at this point with the way they're f*cking sh*t up 💀 😭 😂 😂

Ebronics

"devil toad" smh i know a Slaad when i see one lol

Mxri

Did we ever confirm if the people are alive after transforming back? Or are they still fried?
