Good episode! Not gonna lie though, this will probably be the final season of SF we will cover. Without plot progression to look forward to it leaves little for us to be truly invested in with the characters besides the usual hijinks. Its more of a "pass the time" show vs a "get lost in this world" show.

I can get behind them not enjoying the show as much as they did during s1 since the plot progression has been slow and i thought they love it as it is but if people are gonna be mad at them dropping it after s3 then watch other people's reaction to it because there are some other ones who's reaction is very entertaining.

It is a slow progression show for sure; it's not going to be Detective Conan style (nothing will be) but it's definitely not going to end any time soon with how it can feel. And for me, who is invested in LoidYor and the plot itself, I'm cool with it, but also sometimes frustrated lmao I'm glad yall still like the show though, and respect it enough to finish the season! Hope you enjoy what's coming!

This series is more a slice of life/comedy than anything else because Anya is such a funny, popular character to use and have her go through some Saturday morning cartoon like shenanigans. That along with the cute family dynamics of the Forgers is what sells the series. I’m somewhat aware of what’s going on in the manga at this point and it still took awhile to get to that point which from a content creator’s perspective I can understand why they would drop it when there are so many other shows that are more engaging to react to on a weekly basis instead of just watching the same thing over and over for just a small amount of actual plot to kick in season after season. When the actual plot kicks in, it’s significant but then it’s a long road of hijinks before the story actually moves forward again.

I recall reading somewhere that the author has had a tendency in the past of getting too dark with his storylines, and the publisher/studio have made efforts to keep the reins on him, so the story progresses pretty slowly as a result. That said, from the comments here, I'm glad to hear it sounds like the plot's progressing in the manga. I actually thought the story was progressing more in this season than the last, but that's just my opinion. Also, I guess they don't read the comments? I'm sure others mentioned last episode that this is Anya's second Stella?

Oh no this is heartbreaking!! But it is slow. Thank you guys for getting me into the show because I definitely found something I can enjoy in my own time now. I personally like watching this couple named "Carlie & Ange" react to spy x family. They get pretty invested emotionally and they're really funny. "The React Pack" also is fun to watch along with. I've been watching them for years. Currently they're my 2 favorite reactors for Spy X Family. "The Normies" are currently watching the English dub. So I've been watching them because English dub reactors for this show are rare. "BlindWave" also watches the dub but hasn't started season 3 at all at the time of writing this.

I agree. I know it's very slice of life but the fact that a plot was introduced means you'd expect that plot to progress and it's disappointing that it hasn't. Even in the manga now, it progresses extremely slowly. I'm just glad yall got to loid's backstory since that and yor's cruise thing are definitely the show's best arcs.

It’s not made…world building is done. And it’s done by introducing obstacles that bring out differences in our titular characters personalities, proposing different scenarios that include the surrounding area and learning how the characters have interacted with the world in the past and how it differs now. We’ve learned about the secret police, the garden, the west and east conflict. Bruh it’s a slow show sure it’s closer to inuyasha than Jjk. You can not like it all you want doesn’t mean it’s not doing its job

War between the East and West. Experiments on the children and animals left displaced. A story of the Espers ,Spies, Secret Police, and Assassins attempting to either maintain the "peace"/stop war, push one side to victory, or disrupt both altogether. And the forming of one family under false that contains them all trying to find their way to their goals w/o one another finding out. While in the process, potentially finding the true love/home they were denied or had stripped away by the war... Is essentially the premise of the show...But often is just a slice of life comedy. Which ain't bad, but given what they have, it could be SO MUCH MORE. Animation aside(Which is phenomenal), the castle eps, the burning building ep, the bomb threat ep, most of the cruise eps, even the underground tennies matches; they shown us the potential. Even this season with Loid's backstory, theres a lot here, but they do little with it.

If you're looking for anime to get lost in, there's an animatic that got adapted from a really fantastic book series, Cradle. Jay Oliva from the Lex&Otis studio helped get it going on Kickstarter, it's publicly released on January 8th. I recommend everyone keep an eye out for it.

There's a reason for all this. The author has admitted that this isn't the story they wanted to tell but the ones the editors liked. They submitted several other stories that got shot down. They're really just not invested into this despite the fact that all the the elements of the series is beloved by the audience.

It's because the author and the editor usually tend to gravitate towards making episodic chapters that got nothing to do with the plot. There's an interview where Endo apologized to the readers that are waiting for any plot progression for that reason. Personally, I still like the show, but it's frustrating because I can't exactly recommend this to everyone, specifically to people who like stories where the plot actually moves. In Roshigang's case, they've been consistent with it, so I get why they're dropping it. Hopefully they'll atleast like the last 3 episodes, or that they'll pick it back up when things got interesting enough again. Unfortunately, they're already not invested enough in this show, otherwise they'll care enough to remember or make an effort to know how many Stellas/Bolts Anya has, and they don't.

Based on what you said you wanted to see in the show, I can say that you'd probably like the next season. If you're waiting for Anya to become an Imperial Scholar though, I bet there's gonna be like 10 seasons before that happens. That's an end-game achievement because then Project Strix is going to be finished and that'll be the end of the series, probably. Unless we get a Spy Family Shippuden with Anya in highschool or working for WISE. That would be cool.

Everything in this episode (aside from the after-credit scene which was just an extra chapter) were setting up for stuff that happens later. Sure it's slow, but it's not just slice-of-life.

They actually cut out some of the side missions already. Don't get me wrong, the anime quality is good and the side missions are funny, but it feels slow, especially if you are looking forward to the main plot advancing constantly. Let's be real the gag of Loid and Yor misunderstanding each other can go on forever at this pace. Funny enough, I remember having an argument with somehow right here in the comment section at the end of season 1 because they feel the show at that point focused too much on the "spy" element and the "family" side was neglected. Now the show could be dropped for the exact opposite reason. It is quite sad tbh.

I'll say this: if you were expecting non-stop action then this ain't the show for you. It is a great show that does have progression though. This showed Loid putting in work for his fake job and Yor becoming more socially capable and making friends. The progression is not the mission but them becoming a real, normal family (no spoilers, this is theory crafting). No shame if you like stop reacting, but I encourage you to keep watching.

Unfortunately, they do progress but it's maybe about usually two episodes per season where something critical actually happens. Then 5-6 episodes are just good storytelling (Loids backstory, and some other characters in the next season), but the rest are anya funny shenanigans. So understandable but it's a shame considering you've watched comedy shows and this is rly funny with different genres mixed in

I literally only watch this along with you guys because I find the characterisations to be lacking. I don’t mind a slow pace, but if there’s no action then there should be character development. Especially Yor, she has three flat ass traits: super strong, negative infinity common sense and a strong sense of duty towards family. The author really should have put more thought into her character, maybe most of what he had planned for her got flattened out when the edgier darker version of the story was chucked out. A shame.

There are 3 things we know that will have major impacts on the story. Anya knows one, Loid knows one, and another character confirmed something. How those characters knowing these things will affect their actions is the draw for me. We can't just jettison right into the meat of the matter, we have to cautiously step to it. Because it's not good content for reactions. Even if they think a show is good, that doesn't mean that they want to spend time watching it/reacting to it. Every reactor has their own preferences and that's fine, forcing them to react to something never makes good content.

To be fair that would have been a whole different story lol. This is a show about a silly family with their silly kid, and the plot is just there as an excuse to create this situation. It's closer to Detective Conan, for example, where the "real" plot is irrelevant most of the time and it's actually a murder mystery series.

Either they'll completely drop it, or just wait until the streets say that the story have arrived to its destination. Most likely they're gonna do the former, but I hope they'll atleast do Spyfam movies if it got another one.

But they're far more experienced with SF to make the decision to drop it. They've soon watched all three seasons. Dungeon Meshi is pretty good for sure, but it is still a fair bit of an adventure feel good anime, so I can understand (haven't watched their reactions of it) why they dropped it early on.

I'm still laughing at the fact that y'all forgot that Anya actually got TWO Stellas (from the first season of when she saved a crippled kid from drowning). I know it's dull enough that makes you forget that it didn't feel significant enough that you'd forget (as well as it's been years since we've seen the show), but she did indeed receive another one in that regard lol

Kinda disagree, this season they do a lot more progress towards mission. Damian's mother introduced, Damian felt proper like towards Anya, Fiona and Frankie also set up works together. and eventually Yor definitely gonna play her part since she already friend with Melinda. This show kind like set up each character, placing them closer one by one and each will have proper role for finale. Tbf, there still lot they can explore, especially the Shopkeeper also hinted he sus towards Loid after Yor story at him. yeah... a lot.... lol
