Fun fact: (possible spoilers) The reason Dek and the other predators are so on edge by his mothers visit is that predator society is MATRIARCHAL as the females are bigger, fiercer, and more brutal than the males. The reason they don’t hunt is because unlike humanity predator births are male skewed meaning females are more rarer to be born. As such they are often protected in society because they are so rare even so they’re dangerous very dangerous. I also love how you can FEEL the video game influence Badlands has its director Dan Trachtenberg said the main games he drew influence was Last of Us, Uncharted, Shadow of the Colossus, World of Warcraft, Monster Hunter, etc. Also this is technically the first overt Aliens crossover with the predator franchise as Thia is a Weyland Yutani Synthetic same as Andy in Alien: Romulus. Hope we see these 2 franchises go at it again.

The predator comics and whatnot has them. And he is mostly right, though it does depend on the clan. Some clans are weird and different. But the females are definitely bigger, stronger, smarter, and more deadly. Though, I don't remember them being more rare. The reason I remember why they aren't seen as much is because of two reasons: they don't have to prove themselves as the males do, and they have a different role, which is hunting other Yautja. There are Yautja that are deemed Bad Bloods and are those that have turned agaisnt their codes or betrayed their own kind, and usually the females are the ones that hunt those Bad Bloods.

As a long time Predator fan, to hear folks enjoy having a Yaujta as a protagonist and make them sympathetic is pretty wild to see. It took close to 30 years but we finally can move past the them being relegated to just a sci-fi slasher villain. The absolute best thing they did was keep Dek speaking his own native language throughout the whole movie, when I first saw it I was bracing for Dek to just start speaking english at the 'translation' scene but they kept that shit together and the movie is better for it, this director has such a massive respect for the character. I hope they keep this going, a sequal to this would be awesome but even a TV show would be great too. Killer of Killers shows this works great as an anthology, just give us a different predator story each episode, keep it up!

I remember when the first images of Dak were released online. Oh there were so many bad faith takes vomited on X" up until the movie left theaters. I know, I say some outlandish things sometimes in jest, but I won't even repeat some of the things that were said it was absolutely disgusting and embarrassing. If I'm being completely honest we can never have nice things because of people like them. And I think it kind of hurt the box office.

After I watched this movie in the theaters, I noticed something about all the Trachtenberg movies; there's a throughline throughout the releases. As the movies have went on, the human focus/association has been getting less and less starting from Prey up to this movie. Prey starts this throughline as being a traditional human focused Predator movie, with Killer of Killers having a bit less of a human focus but also using the different time periods to expand the Yautja as a species by showing different ways that Yautja hunt than what is previously known. The end of Killer of Killers does a little more by showing the sophistication of the Yautja and their culture with things like having gladiatorial arenas, showcasing why they capture certain species, etc. Badlands serves as an opposite to Prey with the Yautja being the main focus of the movie through Dek, going a bit more into the Yautja culture, making the species more of a character in the world, and the human involvement/focus being more... remote in a sense with the synths acting as a stand-in for "human" characters. This is important because this is how Dan kills two birds with one stone with the next movie; With Thia now being unaffiliated with anything involving the humans more than herself, this means the next movie doesn't need to spend time introducing a human character with Thia being a stand-in. With that being said, this movie was definitely a test to see if all of this could work and all of this is to say, this next movie I expect and hope is about to go DEEP into the lore about the Yautja.

I know it made 185 million but it has a budget of 105 million (and without marketing that is, the number is probably higher) and needed to make 250+ million to break even. Since theaters take a cut, a film of that size needs to make 2x-3x its budget to make a profit.

I like to call stuff like this "PG-13" with quotations. There is plenty of gore and extremely violent deaths in this movie but because none of the blood is red it gets a pass from an R rating. That's why I never get turned off immediately if I see PG on something, I need to see what the directors do with it first.

Ive read some peoples take that it could be similar to japanese chainmail that looked like netting which alot of ppl missed in Naurto and other shinobi shows. Yautja using chainmail would make perfect sense and i always loved that fishnet look or AVP predators which in my opinion were some of the best looking with their armor and weapons

1. Tessa unloaded the entire stash of ice grenades from inside the creature, it was a final gambit and basically a suicide move if they were not a synth. 2. Building on that, Yaujta are honor bound and play by their own set of rules so like Dek they all likely tried to kill it in the most ‘fair’ honest combat they could or else it would be a hollow victory.

Dek was cut off from his gear because of the vines tessa had to bring an army with flamethrowers to clear them out to reach said grenades and even then she had to use all of them to kill the Kallisk. Big issue though, NO HEAD meaning no trophy which makes hunting it no point

I think the good thing about the Yaujta is the all have different personalities since they are individuals so some may perfer to use their tech advantage but in multiple movies we’ve seen them throw it away when confronted with a ‘worthy opponent’ so it’s not out the realm of reality. Also, it’s very likely that the other Yaujta that came to hunt the kalisk were also noobs that were trying to hunt big game to ‘prove’ something so they may not have been ‘prime’ hunters just yet

If they make a sequel to this involving Dex's mother that would be interesting considering the Matriarchs actually rule the home world. Oh she could even declare Dex as a potential bad blood given he killed his father and several other yautja, thus forcing Dex into another trial hunt to prove he's not bad blood.

Action wise I could see why he could be considered bad blood given he faught dex, a unworthy kill cause he was "weak"/used more advanced equipment making the fight unfair/ and ganging up on him, but status wise no he wasn't a bad blood given he was a clan leader. Also if his mother or the matriarchies had set a rule or ordered the death of small yautja then by law dex would be a bad blood. After all if the women decide that the whole clan (males) were unworthy for breeding rights due to dex (cause he would be perceived as weak thus his clan carried weak genes) then there won't be anymore future generations for that clan. Female yautja are far more brutal and selective compared to the male yautja.
