I don’t think anyone’s hating on it. There was just some doom posting a few days ago because people saw that they had 17 animators on this one episode which usually isn’t a good sign. I’ve only really seen the opposite of people saying it’s competing and may surpass Frieren an Mushoku Tensei. I think that’s gotta relax a bit, there hasn’t been a substantial amount to really differentiate it from other fantasy/isekai anime. First 2 episodes have been good so far, enjoyed them. No problems with the visuals from me really. I don’t think it’s like the best thing ever though but it needs more time to cook. 2 eps is way too soon to tell (even with the 1 hour premiere).

They're literally doing mundane shit for about 60-90% of the story. The anime also changed the characterization dramatically, giving characters like Teoritta an entirely different personality (she's much more violent and confrontational), Xylo is basically a pacifist. There's other things they changed, they added way more fighting to the first episode than what was adapted. It's flashy but its still another Yuusha story, is what I gathered.

I guess this world follows a bit of JRPG logic and keeps the hero's party size small. Makes sense in the context of this world. Better to have a small elite team of expendable soldiers than a large one.

Right? Like the scene with Teoritta and Xylo just talking had WAYYY more animation than any other show would ever dream of. It’s like sure, the overall animation quality dropped a little bit for this setup episode…but they actively went above and beyond adding flourishes beyond lip flaps while characters are talking. 90% of anime will have minutes of screen time of multiple characters on screen with a single characters lip flapping and NOTHING ELSE

Complete sidenote and yapsesh but I really want more shows that tie into other series. Lets use this show and Mushoku for example. Just imagine for a second right that after this beautifully animated, no opening only "Art" havin ahh show is randomly and distantly the same world as Mushoku Tensei, but just set like 5 or 6 thousand years before the Ruduening and on a different continent. Like a few subtle hints sprinkled here and there using the what we know of this world and the mechanics of their magic system and then like four seasons later you see one of the characters from MT proper pop up as a background character and drop the missing piece that links the two stories together and it all starts to fall into place what you have been watching. I promise you a reveal like that would pop tf off, i just wish it was done more often.

I don’t know about that… Arguably, three of the biggest issues with American comics is how they’re tied so closely together, how there are so many different authors that have a say in the various characters, and all the crises used to make blank slates. This would make sense if Mushoku and Sentenced were made by the same author. I’d love it if that happened. But having different authors try to work their worlds into one another without that being the intention from the beginning, especially if the only reasoning was that the anime were made by the same studio and looked similar, I think that would put us on the road to becoming the same unwieldy monster that American comics is on. Opening the door to dragging stories out well past the time they should’ve ended.

No, His Majesty is delusional and believes that he is the rightful king of the country. He bombed government buildings in the belief that the ruling government WAS the usurper. So yeah, he is a terrorist, or at the very least, he attempted a coup all on his own and got sentenced to be a hero for it. Also, I think it's fair to assume that Dotta was sentenced for theft. It's just a question of WHAT he stole to warrant the harshest sentence that can be given.

I think both comments have a decent point, especially if the cross-over possibility was fucked up it would be immensely damaging, but if the author can execute it through later chapters and keep it lore-consistent then it would be an absolute masterpiece to behold.

there's so far no hint that there's some Isekai-element involved with the characters, where did France suddenly come from XD don't know how it's about others, just my take...the first 2 episodes are giving a bit "shield hero vibes" with the whole "well, I'm a criminal & got a hard punishment, but WAIT!, I'm actually a super-good guy who just got framed by the evil church for being too good & not playing along! and also I'm super-OP and got a small lady that's super into me while I save the day, even though I say I don't care about those people!" - just crossing my fingers & hope it doesn't got the Harem Route, with the captain starting to want his D & just becomes a boring edgelord-power fantasy at this point. Maybe it's just me that would enjoy a story with a more morally gray character who did ACTUALLY do something bad, even if for plausible reasons & a "Hero"-Group with a mix of actually good/framed, grey & 1 or 2 heroes that actually fully deserve the sentence, but are pulling their weight anyway, I dunno

So I guess either the church or some group within the church turned evil & wants to feed the Blight Demon Lords a goddess for some reason to help them win the war, with how they apparently sent her transport to a place where she would most likely be swarmed (after the guards were butchered) & are now IMMEDIATELY sending her down a mine shaft that Xylo said they would usually just have sealed & abandonde - to give the Blight another chance to get her in the tunnels, without an easy way of escape this time

yup, plus all the issues with power levels & "well, superman exists too, so why didn't he just save the day?"-situations; there you just have to agree to the unspoken contract of "well, all heroes that aren't explicitly brought in are busy for some reason, don't think too hard about it" - maybe you could do 2 or 3 shows in the same world/story that are set up to work well within the canon, but that would take a lot of coordination if you want, like, 3 or 4 seasons of each with their own plot that have to fit together well

also we don't really know how many heroes there actually are - world-building wise, if it's only for the "viles of crimes" or something, it would be weird to have 1.000 heroes (also probably easier to control if they're strong, but only a small number that can be contained by the army/church worst case, even if they have bomb-collar spells around their necks - they got a genius king who's good with runes and stuff, who's to say there's no way around that?)

Nah, hell nah as a matter of fact. We do not need the Marvel-fication of anime properties, especially across different authors. Funny enough though, this DOES happen just not in these kind of shows. I've seen it done in non action type shows. Characters from Azumanga Daioh showing up in City: The Animation and Yotsuba (manga) Kaguya showing up in Oshi No Ko main characters from Oreimo appearing in Eromanga Sensei It works naturally in those because, for the most part, the setting is just Japan, and typically its a nice hint at what happened 'after' the cameo characters story ended properly so they are just living life. wholly agree with the whole 'if superman exists' analogy because most of the shonen type series, the protagonist is such a powerhouse that they practically change the status quo of their verse, so having them kind of just lounging around in another verse while other insane shit goes down but they dont try to intervene, cheapens their character

Yeah, but those are specifically stated to have nothing to do with the main stories. Quartet even goes out of its way to show why characters like Rem are still around and not in a coma. The op was wanting the characters to show up in others’ stories. Can you imagine Subaru or Naofumi showing up in Overlord’s world without coming into conflict with Ainz?

Just like in the comments of episode one where people were complaining that it's "dumb" that other characters don't use seals the same way Xylo does, even though, at that point, we hadn't even been told how the seals works or how Xylo, himself got them, it's also pretty premature to complain about none of the heroes being more "morally grey" when we are only two episodes in, don't know the full backstories of any of the heroes we've been introduced to, Xylo included, and the intro literally shows us three more heroes joining the group later.

But the most exceptional I've see that does this fits that fits in a nice bow is the Tarou series including A Certain Magical index, and Certain Scientific Railgun, and A Certain Scientific Accelerator.

I forgot I made this comment tbh, but I dont want a Marvel or another Nasuverse. I agree its a pain to keep up with and incredibly disheartening to realize you need to read or watch 18 other series before you understand whats happening. I completely agree that it doesnt work when you have characters on certain scales like (if one could just say fuck it and blow a planet up), but thats kinda why it needs to be kept unknown from the viewer/reader until after the stage and stakes for the story you experience is set. I'm saying I basically want a fully fleshed out story that holds on its own and is eventually revealed through small, almost insignificant easter eggs to be in the same universe (either extremely far away in distance or time) as another story. Think like a VERY distant Prequel, Sequel, or Side Story thats way off on the other side of the planet that is only ever revealed to be one after all the characters, power systems, and setting for the story have been known for some time.
