Jamaal Ellison

This episode feels the closest we'll probably ever get to Marvel doing anything similar to Donald Glover's *Atlanta*.

Carlos

Made me low key wish Stanfield played Door Man lol

Jamaal Ellison

Yo, you cooking that would've been inspired casting.

Devon

This was a great episode

PJ Rivera

What a blast from the past Doorman super obscure west coast avenger

Devon

Can we get a black knight reaction with Martin Lawrence if u have free time?

Sumuzu

Recommending ya'll react to HBO's Watchmen (starring Regina King and Yahya, the main character of Wonder Man) (Adding to each Wonderman ep just so ya'll see it...apologies for the annoyance!)

Jason Marbach

Just finished the ep 3 video and yeah you already know I’m seated for this incredible peak in ep 4. Lowkey one of the best ~40 minutes of content marvel has ever done. Damn near perfect standalone episodic storytelling

Alex zander

Yo we, (yes, me and you) need them to watch knights of the seven kingdoms

PJ Rivera

Take my Marvel nerd card away I can’t believe I mixed them up😂🤡

Inconspicuous Pug

They’re literally speed running wonder man to watch Knights of the 7 Kingdoms

Ernie

Damn people praising this episode alot? This was bottle episode :/ Honestly didn't need a whole episode of "why superhuman cannot be actors"

alexis

doorman's powers remind of cloak n dagger

alexis

Also they metioned roxxon in loki

Jason Marbach

Roxxon actually shows up a couple times in the MCU, but it’s always small background stuff like this. For instance, in Loki season 1, they go to a hurricane in like 2049 and the whole climax of the episode happens inside a Roxxcart store, which is like an in-universe Sam’s Club or whatever.

Jason Marbach

(And yeah, they’re a recurring antagonistic corporation in the comics. One day we’ll get Dario Agger in the MCU and I’m gonna be hype)

Jamaal Ellison

Dark Force has been seen before in the MCU in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, even Cloak & Dagger, and The Runaways.

Tsuki

The only episode of this show that got me yawning

Teyon Alexander

The disclaimer he signed is the doorman clause, created because of the Doorman incident.

Kris Barnes

Nah this skull is just the skull from the “Alas poor Yorick” scene in Hamlet. It’s not the skull that Trevor stole

Milk

Why are we so judgy in the comments it was a good episode I get it’s cool to be skeptical cause it’s marvel but it’s still a good episode in itself

PJ Rivera

Right? Mf’s can’t wait 1 week and Roshi will probably watch 2 eps to catch up

Jason Marbach

I can’t believe anyone didn’t like this episode. To me this was the best-made episode of the whole show, and it perfectly explains the backstory of the stakes for the show and gives us a human attachment to them as well. Just crazy good television

Jason Marbach

I’m not sure because the Rookie is a cop show, but apparently they frequently do hospital stuff on that show. So the moment at the end of this episode with Simon walking out might have been him walking out to a portapotty before it explodes, which is an incident agent Cleary referenced in episode 3

Gilthwixt

"Frozen Actor Josh Gad" - I'm sorry is that the guy who played fucking OLAF playing himself??? Wtaf is this show 😂

Alex zander

Talking like a live on here. Didn't know they planned to watch it

kingBD

Thats where i thought they were going for a second tbh. Idk who tf doorman is😂

Tsuki

Ye, to each their own

PJ Rivera

To me its great world building because why WOULDN’T super powered people want to be actors instead of superheroes?

Parlay miles

I need a great lakes avengers comedy show or something , perfect way to introduce squirrel girl

Hi tech

damn good episode. reminds me of atlanta

W Wang

Because there's a ton more responsibility that comes with being a superhero

Grimm

This is also a smart way for MCU to make the world not turn into The Boys, like as in Superpowered people can't really be Celebrities. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the comics the only superheroes who are treated as celebrities are The Avengers. The rest are either treated like the X-men or Spider-Man (vigilante).

Alex

The Roxxon people was in iron man 3

Grimm

@PJ Rivera exactly its basically MCU saying this world can never be like The Boys because if you aren't part of the Avengers you are looked down on for having powers. Which is basically same thing in the comics.

Saphthings

This episode was so good, because I started watching this reaction like, "Wait, wasn't there some episode with an annoying ding dong guy? Who's this?" They did his progression from being doorman to actor to "hasbeen" to hero to etc so well for such a short period of time!

Xuda Art

I believe Roxxon made its first appearance in Loki season 1. I think in the apocalypse world where they first meet Sylvie I believe the was a big neon Roxxon sign near the supermarket Roxxon was also a big thing in the Cloak and Dagger tv shows, but I dont think thats technically mcu

Jon Fejes

All episodes of this show are good, but I wasn't feeling this one much either, and I think it's just because I love Simon and Trevor together. Those two make the show work and an episode without them feels a little underwhelming. Of course, this makes the next episode fantastic imo.

Kareem Davis

Miles Morales deals with Roxxon for a while in his comics. Really good read!

Tae

But where did bro go?

Ranginald Vagel

Hey if you don’t identify with the story that’s a you thing, not a problem with the show

Ernie

It's subjective, doesn't mean it's needed or necessary. If they did the episode differently without this "doorman story" i would wager most people would not care? We here for Trevor & Wonderman..

Suth Truong

This is like the 1000th time Roxxon has been mentioned or in the background of the MCU 😄😄😄

Denn B

That was the set of The Rookie where the damage control guy said an incident was reported. He went outside to blow up

Denn B

Anybody who's not a mutant or suspected mutant like Spiderman in generally treated okay. Spiderman's been at it for so long tho that he's in good standing.

Itanna

I wonder if Doorman and The Spot have ever teamed up

Corey Leach

Roxxon has been a frequent easter egg in the MCU. I think i remember Roxxon having a store in the future in Loki S2. Demarr probably going thru some gruesome times with the DODC. RIP to J-Gad 😭😭

Jam ♡Pinky♡

FINALLY DOUBLE DROPSSSS 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Devin B

I can agree to that, they were just giving us more background on why Simon would hide his powers because if it ever gets out then he can never act and that's the end of his dreams.

Miche

I love this show and I need more people talking about it. Thanks yall

Jay Panda

Nice catch, I never put that together

Delinda Arts

wasn't Roxxon mentioned in Loki S1 as well?

Imari

Next ep was my fav of the whole show

Game Dragon

Roxxon has been present in a few MCU movies and shows. But they're usually just a background thing.

Rell_TheGoat

Dang I’m rewatching n I just realized the bartender lady was like Olaf was crowd surfing n I realized😂

SavvyAlloy

I miss Cloak & Dagger. I wish they'd do another show with them. Such an amazing duo with unique powers.

SavvyAlloy

Same. I almost thought this was a Cloak backstory when I saw the episode. Makes me wish Netflix made that Cloak and Dagger show instead of ABC

Jamaal Ellison

Yeah The Runaways and Cloak & Dagger would've been a perfect fit for the Disney+ format.

SavvyAlloy

They would have. I wish Disney could give the same treatment with Daredevil and give it to C&D

Jamaal Ellison

I'd really like to see them throw in a power pack series too

Mxri

Had to put the J down and focus because WHY IS MARIO LOPEZ HERE TOO lmao

Magnis

yeah this is one of them ones

Grimm

It depends on the era of comics you're thinking about. Yes of course years has past in current Marvel comic that the public is normalize with superpowered people. In MCU they are still figuring it out it seems. I would say MCU is like the Ultimate universe when it comes to these things.

DIOR

real tv is back

Mea

One of the best episodes of an already solid show so far. I also loved the experimental Atlanta vibes~

WhyWaitChris

This was my favorite episode! It was like watching Marvel's version of Atlanta. Josh Gad was great and also, what black man is about to just touch some black goo coming out of a trash can?...Ding dong!

5lime

"sheeragan" is nerfed asl now.. she done flinched, called out the wrong scenarios, and even fuckin the others heads up☠️

5lime

so underrated

Fred

She in her boruto arc it’s been passed down 😭

Kryptik _

there have been numerous references to Roxxon throughout the MCU, including not only the movies, but the Netflix shows, agent carter, Cloak and Dagger, etc

Hyphenz

Basically Doorman’s powers are connected to Cloak from Cloak and Dagger because he uses the dark force

J Man

Doorman reminds me a bit of Bungaeman from Moving. How his powers put kids in danger as an actor and they had to fire him.

JoZé

i rewatched a couple times i think this is the rookie porta potty incident the show seems very intentional and the cop car and the backdrop seems like hints

Kevin

This was one of my favorite episodes of the show. Amazing

Gravity

okay that was a good one

maseken

Doorman is a character in the comics who is actually a Mutant, so that's a change, obviously not a super important character so I don't see any issues with that. He is also a Great Lakes Avenger, the same team with squirrel girl. (It's a shame we never got that show with them, at least I would love more random episodes with minor characters like Doorman and the other Great Lakes Avengers) The mask he wears in the bank vault scene is how his mask looks like in the comics! I really wanna know if they ever have plans to do more with Roxxon or just continue to sprinkle them around. People are gonna say MCU has used Roxxon, but a lot of that was all in shows that were AT THE TIME not considered canon by the movie side big wigs at marvel, obviously the past few years with the multiverse saga and how they RETROACTIVELY added things like Daredevil and the netflix shows back into canon you can consider that "MCU" now but they still cherry pick what they want (Ex - there was a Darkhold in Agents of Shield but they completely ignored that for WandaVision.) Cloak and Dagger are cool characters so I hope they do eventually bring them back into the MCU proper. I could be wrong but I only remember Roxxon ever being in Loki S2 in the futuristic setting with the store when they first confront Sylvie, also brief references in Daredevil, Iron Fist, Echo, and She-Hulk. I know it was also in Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Cloak and Dagger, etc, but it's in the hands of Marvel what they wanna do with all that

Kencool

Doorman is a superhero from the comics I believe with the same or very similar powers of cloak

DatKid_Kaneki

how is that spoiling lol that will never be explained

God Mage KI

I’m familiar with Roxxon through the Cloak and Dagger series.

HBK713🏄🏾‍♂️

Good episode👌 this was like an Atlanta episode with Paper Boy brother 🤣😅

kai. 🩶

i’m weak 😭😭

T2M

People are judging? I mean generally speaking I am positively suprised by wonder man and I like it but all I see is extreme glazing in the comments, the show sits at a comfortable 8/10 for me right now and this episode was good. I guess some people cant critique that the doorman clause flashback was pretty long wided or they couldve done more to really play into this "silly gag" flashback because I also believe that it was pretty stale.

Gavin fox

Also weren’t they on the Spider-Man miles morales game from insomniac games

DIOR

Gangs of London and Thousand Blows being on this list was a mistake

Hybrid10Prime

Fire door opening the wrong way, poorly maintaned exit and only 1 exit - yeah just throw out the whole club

XORA NICO

I swear the Doorman episode could’ve been an episode of Atlanta and it still would’ve cooked just the same.

Offw0rlder

Doorman got hoed, he didn't even want the fame

JulieV

roxxon was in a few mcu things in the background, the one i remember is loki they went to a Roxxon store during the hurricane apocalypse

Bria A.

Olivia Holt pretty recently said she'd be down to come back! Idk about Aubrey but likely the same with him.

Jamaal Ellison

Despite everyone at the top trying to deny it, the people running these shows tried their damndest to make them connected. And I respect that so much, one of the cops in Cloak and Dagger was literally from New York worked in Harlem and references, a character from Luke cage.

Bria A.

The Doorman portaling stuff was practical effects, btw! Or at the very least, the club scene was.

Kugenaru Kira

I hope they bring them back eventually

Alexis Sullivan

I think one thing thats overlooked is how Simon's powers contributed to the tragedy of his character feeling out of place even amongst his family. I think he realized early on that his powers were tied to his emotions and in an effort to supress his powers he had to supress his emotions which in turn left him unable to connect with the people around him. I think thats why he overthinks his roles so much, he cant allow himself to truly sink into the role and feel what the character feels because then he runs the risk of his emotions and powers going out of control so hes forced to approach his acting from a logical standpoint instead. Even his girlfriend said despite the years they were together, he never let her in. Because he literally couldn't. Letting her in meant letting his emotions free which would bring his powers to the surface and he couldn't afford for that to happen 1 cuz his powers are very powerful and he could hurt someone but also because it would bar him from being an actor. To protect the people around him and to protect his dream of being an actor, he cuts his emotions off as best he can (until he cant hold back anymore and has those outbursts). Hes kinda like Mob in Mob Psycho

Wes App

We need Mr Robot this year though. Been requesting since 2023

Jordan Best

Roxxon first appears in the MCU was MCU clock and dagger

kai. 🩶

i’m so glad i wasn’t drinking anything when lupa said sees eleven 😭😭

howwlll

Was looking for someone to mention Iron Man 3. The oil tanker that the main antagonist uses and where the final battle takes place is a former Roxxon ship

Derek Sanders

There is so much slept on Marvel shows that aired on Cable TV back in the day that sadly got overshadow by not being directly canon to the MCU. Cloak and Dagger TV show was decent. It was stronger as a drama than a superhero show due to budget but the crossover episode with the Runaways omg. Between the two; the Runaways is a stronger reaction choice and features Nico from YFNSM As Far as Roxxon appearance in the MCU, there's easter eggs in Iron man movies, the Asian division had a crate shown in the background of DareDevil, there was also RoxxCart from Loki. Basically in every show from Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, etc has a crate with roxxon on it lol

D Nice

This nigga was blueno from One Piece lol

Argo2Unitard

The 1980 Incredible Hulk show with Lou Ferrigno was nominated for an Emmy.

J Man

I don't think this is the thing; but what if Josh Gad became Doorman's vomit? I don't think it's the case; but when he was singing his Olaf Frozen song earlier saying "we're melting bitc*es!", what if he melted into vomit? Meaning hopefully Damage Control collected that vomit and we can reconstitute Josh Gad Olaf in the next Shang Chi movie?

A. P.

legit felt like I was watching an episode of Atlanta for a sec this episode lol

King97

Bruh it really did
