JOHN STRANGE FAKE NOOOOOO

Cheesecake

Ngl this is so strange one might call it fake

Jtsn

o7 John Strange Fake

Tina

Bro i love gilgamesh, such a cocky asshole

Idris Naama

I'm still coping about how badly John got done dirty man. Like what was the point and purpose of heavily focusing on his character if he was going to always end up like that? So I feel like something has to happen for him to somehow come back miraculously in a way that makes sense.

Raymond Terry

Excited to see the reaction to this one.

Asher Ealey

Bro that John scene genuinely had me DYING 😂😂😂

Asher Ealey

8:52 The one who said antihero was the vampire so maybe its just him that sees it that way

ElijahLew

MUMEN RIDER COP BAHAHAHAHAHA

Sado

im crying bro they killed John Strange Fake

wrld

if i had a nickel every time Jack The Ripper and Alcides fought i would have two nickels

DocGreen

I assume castor will play a role into this since he gives out fake phantasms. And I assume hercules plan from the get is to steal EA from gil

MrC4_Eyes

enkidu is a guy btw

Archer

Now you realize why Alcides was trying to bait Gilgamesh into taking out Ea when they first fought back in episode 4, he wanted to steal Ea from him

Fernando Perez

John Strange Fake got turned into a fucking pretzel lmfao

_monjiro

Ay Roshi I could be wrong, but you might have applied the wrong aspect ratio crop to the episode. I didnt notice until 9:24 when the bumper appeared, so its not too big of a deal, but I figured youd want to know for the future.

Oxalic Acid

Bro thought he was Shirou.

Archer

Enkidu is genderless, basically a legendary pokemon

Fernando Perez

Technically genderless in Fate at least. He was male in the original story tho

AkkhilesCosmos45

Knowing that Alceides can basically steal noble phantasms, it puts into context what he said to Gil in his first encounter. Bro told him to pull out Ea just so that they’d be equal. He was literally trying to ragebait Gil in order to steal Ea.

Dontsop Keran

Bro went out like that in front of all his comrades im crying 😂

Jigga Man

John gotta run the gauntlet now, from the grave bro, he gotta come back 😂 ain't no way bro just got dupped and discarded

Oni Legend

Enkidu is an “it” more than anything else. Its a literal living lump of divine clay meant to be a weapon of the gods, it has no gender to it. Funny enough though the form it wears with the green hair IS the first human being it saw and copied, which was a woman i believe

HaruhiDream

It is supposed to be the body of his dead lover from the stories. That is why it looks female.

MrC4_Eyes

uses masculine pronouns in the epic

Xemnas27

From John Fake to John Pretzel 💀🥀

DevilMayCarter

So if Kazuma was a noble spirit? But in all seriousness, historically known for his way with words, it would make sense for Alceidis to be a ragebaiter.

Fernando Perez

Btw, the Noble Phantasm Alcides stole was “From Hell”, which basically allowed Jack to turn into a demon whose power grew with a higher population density nearby. Now Jack only has his main NP, Natural Born Killers, which is what allows him to create clones of himself. This is a crazy nerf, since From Hell was basically his heavy hitter form.

MgGlenn Etienne

It's actually the other way around Gil is copying Enkidu

Kris Barnes

This episode was already a 10/10, but then John getting mangled took it to the next level. I legit screamed

Denzelwya

Farewell John the biggest larper 😭🙏🏾

HaruhiDream

John Strange Fake...has been killed!

WeiYiMeij

IIRC Anti-Hero is the term used for evil aligned/ villainous Heroic Spirits. Originally it was literally a term for heroes that commit evil for the sake of others but that more so applies to I think just Angra Mainyu whereas Medusa and Medea both also count as Anti-Heroes.

GJ

👀

BZD

I can’t believe they killed John Fate.

BZD

In case anyone is wondering why Alcides would have an ability to steal things, just know that 8/12 of Heracles’s 12 labors involved stealing something.

Śtórmí X

Bro 😭John 😭😭!!!

Spriggz

Lmao Lupa’s laugh at the end made that SO much funnier 🤣🤣🤣

fruitspunchsamurai

I mean let's not forget Caster still hidding and idk maybe throw out a healing spell from afar

David J Forde Jr

No it's always meant to refer to morally evil heroic spirits. Heroic spirits are just human who through there stories humanity records affirm human history. You are either an example of what humans should be, or an example of what humans shouldn't be. But both teach humans.

BZD

You may see people commenting on what pronouns to use for Enkidu. Just know you can use whatever you like. Technically it is genderless and is just a being made of clay. But it has taken a form based on a divine prostitute it met. So basically, you can call Enkidu whatever you want.

13

So just to be clear, Heroic spirits have more than one noble phantasm. Alcides stole "From Hell", which is what Jack used to transform into the demon form. Jack still has other abilities/noble phantasms. Also kinda funny that the anime let Alcides aura farm during this battle. In the LN, Jack was dog walking him, and he had to use Reincarnation Pandora to stop getting his ass beat

BZD

Bro forgot Shirou had Avalon.

BZD

Yeah. I noticed it too.

BZD

I mean at the end there he was getting beat up, up until he used his NP.

13

Anime made me feel like Alcides tanked it, and stole the NP because he could. LN made me feel like Alcides had no choice but to steal the NP to survive

JustThatOtherDude

Dunno... Alcides was screaming like a bitch in the dub 🤔

Fizzy 🐉

I literally waited for their reaction for the end part I knew they would be dying at that 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Seibahhh

john strange fake was done dirty bro

P. A.

- From Hell is a reference to when a letter was sent to George Lusk, along with a kidney. It was assumed to be sent by Jack the Ripper. Or somewhere among those lines. It has 2 functions, first transforming him into a devil because that is the form people back in the day assumed Jack to be. Second, it deploys a field which "portrays" hell itself. That field basically empowers Jack by the amount of people caught in it, hence why he seems so strong compared to Alcides. This is also a reference to the terror Jack inflicted back in the day in old london. The interesting part of From Hell is that before he turned into a demon, he had several people in line with him. My only guess is that all those "Jacks" could be summoned aside from the strapping gentleman that Flat did ONLY because the last person in line is a little girl which could be a reference to Jack the Ripper from Fate Apocrypha. - Fun reference made by Jester with the Night of Wallachia, it being another dead apostle from Melty Blood, a spin off from Tsukihime. - Jester being upset that Assassin wasnt corrupted...I can only asume from last episode Fake Assassin made a contract with Sigma given how the talk went but i do not know how that is possible given she was already tied to Jester. Maybe because this HGW is flawed from the start so u can pull of shit like this. - The convo between Sigma and Fake Assassin was really good, highlighting more of who she is, aside from being a member of the Hashashin with multiple Zabanyas which technically shouldnt be possible due to how those assassins work. - Now we know why Alcides was provoking Gilgamesh in pulling out Ea, he basically wanted to steal it the moment he pulls it out. But now he is even more of a problem because he stole from Hell. If he continues to fight in the city and deploy the bounded field, his stregth will increase even more. But i think he can be killed only by 1 thing, which leads to my next point. - Fake Caster was on the phone with Orlando Bloom, talking about the hydra poison he received from Kaira Sisigou. At that moment he was making John's gauntlet which has a hole in its palm. I can only guess that hydra poison is what's gonna kill Alcides in the end because it fits the lore of how Hercules died by being poisoned with hydra blood. How that's gonna happen now that John got folded, idk. - A friend of mine pointed it out to me few days ago, apparently Fake Caster did reveal his name in the previous episode. When he was talking with John and crew, he kept referencing Hamlet, writing and so forth. And his NP is a pen, which suggests he is a writer. When he gave homeboy the gauntlet for his missing arm, he did some golden shinny writing. At the very end when he threw the last writing which empowered the gauntlet, that writing was actually his signature which is the exact same signature as the real life writer. His NP is basically what he was telling john about that 1 writer who copied Shakespeare's hamlet. Basically copying noble phantasms and putting his pen signature on it. I'll leave the name for people to find out.

BZD

No clue who you’re talking about.

Nick Vaughn

Might as well have been playing that John Singleton saxophone in the background for my boy John…pour one out for him tonight

BZD

No, Assassin is getting Energy from Ayaka now. They established this 1-2 episodes ago. Not Sigma.

homura

To be specific, Gil is actually the one who copied Enkidu in life, Gate of Babylon and his fighting comes from Enkidu

Tbdovan

Mumen Rider John got bodied. But honestly any episode with Gilgamesh is an 11/10 he just remains the best character

Devin B

Record of Ragnarok

Riku

I’m starting to really warm up to assassin idk she’s just a really cool character

DatKid_Kaneki

damn u right and he is a excellent thief too

Fuji

i thought jack was a little girl, either way this design is so much better holy shit

Clasher

rip John Strange/Fake

Astr00

“Use it” yea bro let John Strange/Fake go and get destroyed

Oh Alone

They hype him up for no reason

The Dude

Jack assassin is the little girl. She was in this episode actually right before he used “from hell.”

MonarchXIII

Even if he stole Ea would he even be able to use it?

Taida

Prank em Jhon

Gravity

Regular dudes fighting gods. What happened to John Fate is what I picture should happen to the humans in Mortal Kombat and other shit

Gravity

So whatever Fake Casters noble phantasm is gonna save him right? No way we gassed up John Fate to 1 tap him XD

Joni A

Jack can shapeshift since he originally was unknown and never caught. Every name/ face could be him basicly.

sunreyes

Bro is NOT Shirou Emiya

Ihateeveryone

He turned this man into a Halloween decoration. Like god damm bruh😭

Nus Nus

Berserker jack is more the embodiment of all the legends while assassin jack is a one version of it

Rin Okumura

Yeah I think John will need more than just an artificial arm now.

Tyrese Marshall

More than half of the episode was cinematic ratio anyways

Zeke

We don't really know because there's so many unknowns here. There's two conditions to use Ea: 1. You need mesopotamian divine blood to use it 2. You need to be Gilgamesh (this is the most important one) There's a lot about Ea that we don't know about even 20+ years later. Alcides doesn't just steal the noble phantasm, he becomes it. So he could probably become Ea to bypass the Gilgamesh condition but since he's been stripped of divinity, it won't work.

Zeke

I think what they meant is that Enkidu purposely fought like Gilgamesh to prep Richard for this fight. Because they knew Gilgamesh would test Richard once he learned about the alliance.

Rob Pait

In the orignal LN, Jack does turn into Apocrypha jack when he first meets Flat, who tells him to cover up before they get arrested,

Coatl45

Yeah, Assassin’s deal isn’t because of Stigma, but Ayaka. She asked Richie to connect Assassin to her magical circuits so she doesn’t have to rely on Jester’s mana anymore. Which is probably going to drive Jester into such a rage that he’ll immediately try to invade the church as soon as he learns about it. I honestly wish he would. Then we’d get to see Hansa hand him his ass again.

Coatl45

Fushi, the main character in To Your Eternity.

Coatl45

It’s strange that it happened at all, let alone twice…

Coatl45

Enkidu played a bit of a mean spirited prank on Richie, I think. Like, my brother in Enlil, saying “my only friend is fussy” is not enough to warn a guy that claiming you as a friend immediately puts him on Gil’s kill list. Gods and demigods have such a twisted sense of humor…

Mike A

Yeah I was ready for her to be another generic evil character, but they're going somewhere different with it and she seems pretty cool.

Toes24

Does anyone know if the plane we see in johns quick little flash back is the plane kirisugu blow up in zero?

13

it is

Dan Cervantes

I laughed so hard the first time i saw this. John thought his last name was Wick.

Dexter

Upbeat ending goes crazy this ep

Severus Alaerth

(Yappathon 3000 incoming) Just a reminder since Roshi and Lupa talked about it for a bit about Gil being the indicator of whether other Servants are a problem or not. (I've mentioned this in passing in one of the previous eps but as a reply instead of a main comment so people might've missed it) Before that, do understand that all Heroic Spirits within the Throne of Heroes can be summoned as different classes depending on if their real life myth/legend fits the requirements of said class, of which are usually affected by if they were summoned at different points in their lifetimes. like how EMIYArcher has proficiency with both blades and archery due to Shirou having affinities to both when he was younger (archery club and kendo training, then subsequently seeing Archer use blades thus creating a paradox, but hey different timelines and shit). You'll see this more with other Servants if you guys ever react to the FGO anime entries. With that being said, Gil is quite literally the most powerful summonable, non Beast-class (FGO stuff, but I had to include it in case people bring it up) Heroic Spirit that any mage can summon as a servant in the HGW, due to the fact that one of the widely accepted yet unwritten rules/tendencies of a HS's power level is how old their real life myth/legend is. Gilgamesh is from the scriptures of the Epic of Gilgamesh dated from the Mesopotamian era, making him literally the oldest recorded/written/literary hero in human history and where newer things are inspired from. As mentioned in my 2nd paragraph, you can summon him in other classes, one of those versions actually being a main character/Servant in one of the FGO anime entries. He's usually summoned as an Archer-class (the version that you guys are familiar with in all of the Fate entries that you guys have reacted thus far where his main thing is to shoot you with literal Noble Phantasm class weapons from his vault called the Gate of Babylon) due to Archer-class Servants having the highest affinity of the Independent Action skill, which explains why Gil just does whatever he wants regardless of having a Master or not (which is fitting since he is THE King of Heroes) and EMIYArcher basically doing similar things in the UBW route.

ViralCorgi

17:50 Dude really said "The friend of my friend......IS STILL MY MF ENEMY! What the hell you thought this was" 💀😭🤣🤣🤣

ViralCorgi

Damn not John getting the Yamcha treatment 🥲 But in reality, exactly WHAT did he think he was capable of doing, that a legendary demonic spirit entity somehow couldn't???

dp

Is it just me or is the writing in this show just not good? I always knew Fate series being overly cryptic and all, but this is on another level of pretentiousness. I love the settings and the animation is crazy good, but the dialogue always puts me off. It's too verbose and grandiose.

DFrench125

Just you pup 😭 if you can’t understand it just say it

dp

Don't be condescending. It's not that I don't understand. I just find a lot of dialogues and monologues in this show overdramatic and cringey.

TyBluewave

Fate has always had the density of actual literature, but SF is supposed to be over the top insanity for fate fans. It takes everything and turns it up a few notches

Oni Legend

I mean i’m being so completely real with you, thats just how the franchise is written lmao. There’s a lot of poetic waxing about life and death, good and evil, trauma, forgiveness etc. and it tends to treat those concepts both very literally and very figuratively The thing that makes F/SF different from the other Fate animes is that 1) Narita(the author behind this particular story) is a HUGE Kinoko Nasu(the original creator) fan and has wrote this series with the intent of basically being fanfic that brings together all the different elements of the universe to 1 big mixing pot and 2) this has so far been the most accurate adaptation that has put effort into carrying over a lot of the dialogue and exposition from the Light Novel, something that the other animes(specifically UBW and Heaven’s Feel) did a god awful job at which is why so many people always feel so disconnected from Shirou as a character(they literally cut out 95% of his internal dialogue) I think it’s perfectly understandable if its not your style, for as much as i love the franchise i personally myself have occasionally gotten a little annoyed at how circular or vague some of the talking can get before

TyBluewave

Definitionally Jack the Ripper is an antihero. There’s no hero so he can’t be a villain, any story of Jack the Ripper will have to have him as the protagonist because he was never found so there is no other person to oppose him. Therefore, he’s a protagonist that does evil things, an anti-hero.

dp

dude I have played Fate SN, Hollow Ataraxia, the original Tsukihime with its expansion, the new Tsukihime, and Witch on the Holy Night. I have bought and read all Nasu Kinoko novels. I know Nasu Kinoko and how philosophical it gets. I especially love The Garden of Sinners because I think it shows Nasu Kinoko's philosophy most clearly. I have been busy with life so I haven't really kept up with Grand Order but I'm pretty confident I know what I'm talking about. Anime is different from novel. Internal monologues are fine in a novel but it can do more harm when you put it in a fast-paced visual medium. Guys. Nasu Kinoko is famous for being verbose and just pouring loads of info after info. While I enjoy reading it because I can do it at my own pace, verbosity in general is just not a good quality.

Vinne

This is definitely an upgrade to the one we got in fate apocrypha tbh

lackingnames

Its not just how old the spirit's legend, but also how influential/popular. Otherwise a lot of the Hassans would be some of the more powerful servants but they're not. It's also why Arthurian legend servants are very powerful, despite that legend not being nearly as old as many of the Perisan, Indian and Mesopotamian legends. Also I'd just like to say Gilgamesh isn't "the most powerful" servant you can summon. This isn't DBZ where there's just a power gauge and Gilgamesh has more "power". He can be defeated by probably a dozen servants, its just that on average against most servants he would win.

TyBluewave

Jack in F/A was a very creative character. I think her spirit origin might be the most interesting of all fate servants. She just suffered from the Apocrypha disease of not having anywhere near enough time to develop while hopping in and out of the story whenever the Author remembered she existed. I think this Jack might be approaching the same number of scenes as F/A’s Jack despite having half the episodes and not being the focus of any of them.

WillGlacier

Ngl I fucking love the direction they went with Jack the Ripper. The fact that, since no one knew who he was, he could essentially be anyone. Even if said "anyone" was just a rumor or a made up story, like for example "he was a demon straight from hell who killed innocent women for fun" would become true!

P. A.

Must've misunderstand, thanks for pointing out!

aegismk2

justice for the homie john 😂

TyBluewave

The cop who never managed to find or stop him? Realistically, Jack the Ripper showed up, committed a bunch of murders, and then disappeared without anyone ever finding him or even getting close. A story with a cop who never even got close to finding the killer being the MC wouldn’t be a very good read. I have read stories where the MC fails to stop the villain but I’ve never read one where the MC doesn’t even figure out who the villain is, the villains motive, or even communicates with the villain outside of one sided mocking.

Fabien

Honestly, even if it will piss off some people here, you're kinda right, partly. I'm a big fan of Fate/stay night and Fate/zero (the "original story"), but the usual problem with the animes was that Fate was made to be read, not to be watched. It was hard to adapt them in animes because fate is very lore intensive and you can't translate that in the screen. Yet, those adaptations from Ufotable back then were accessible overall, I think. Only some parts of the lore and details were impossible to get. But here with Strange Fake, I agree it's a bit too much: too many characters at once, to many cryptic moments, I don't know what is the source material but my theory is that it would have deserved twice as many episodes, so they had to condense the episodes and thus everything happens very quickly. In the other fates, Ufotable had the time to develop the story. But if you watch the old UBW movie from the Deen studio, released waaay before Fate/zero, you don't understand anything too: it's a 1 hour long movie that summarizes the entire route ! Just one hour. So expectedly, it's ridiculous. Maybe the same thing (to a least extent) happened here, time constraint. Don't mind the people that are mad of what you're saying, as a true fan of Fate (first and foremost the visual novels and novels, then the animes) I say you're not entirely wrong. Just look at how Roshi and his two co-reactors were struggling, and they are far from clueless (they usually get more stuff than most reactors). The anime is cool, but it's cryptic yeah.
