That’s what is so eerie about this show. You feel like you can’t pinpoint exactly how everything started and they MAKE you see that. You can think well, Mikkel must have found his way there in the past but Michael dying in the present means it had already happened. He was already in the yearbook at that time Ulrich was already in the newspapers and had already gone back to bash in Helge’s ear. He was already in the newspapers. The biggest indicator to me about how time travel in this show works is the letter Michael wrote. We watched it being written and being opened, and then watched that same letter be burned. We watched its inception and end. And yet… after its inception it was given to Jonas. And then years later given back to Jonas.

Don't confirm please, but I feel like the Adam reveal is a misdirect. They've made a point of Older Jonas showing scarring he has from his life, his forearm and back, and of all of them someone else having scarring from hanging is almost the easiest one to replicate and trick Jonas that Adam is him. Obviously it's hard because of Adam's burns potentially changing his scars if he actually is Jonas.

Also pretty sure the "recurring nightmare" is just a real event -- Jonas is horrified because they're related, Martha is heartbroken and also Jonas is actively missing in 2020. In the pilot or one of the very early S1 episodes they allude to "what happened between us last summer", and it seemed pretty significant, so it's likely they had sex in 2018 lol.

Sorry if you guys corrected this already, I'm only starting your season 2 reactions, but I *highly* recommend you try to find a source for this show with non-CC subtitles. It's not the worst show for it, but these CC subs for season 2 that you have so far are butchering some lines. You'll get the gist, but it definitely doesn't have the same impact at parts. I'm sure you've heard of this issue with other foreign-language shows. For example, in episode 2, it translates teen Aleksandr saying to teen Regina "I love you" as "Let me, then". Which is a fucking awful translation. Maybe based on the English dub or something.

alright so adam is jonas, thats a nice ego boost. Following the naming convention I wonder if claudia in that context is/was "eve" then thematically. I really like the shows ambitious storytelling and I cant way to get dunked on by the writers. Since we are only in the middle of season 2 out of 3 I expect some groundbreaking stuff to come. This feels just like the beginning to be honest Im really hoping for some true AoT moments.

To add on to this: Closed captioning is designed for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, which is why it includes audio / sound effect descriptions. Also, specifically because it is meant for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, English CCs for non-English shows are largely based off of the English dub (so that the mouth movements roughly match up), which may or may not be a good or accurate translation depending on the show.

The mismatch is still baffling even with that in mind. Being aware of keeping the lip movements in mind, some lines inevitably change a bit. But then you see shots where the lips aren't in frame, and they still butcher the line (fault of the dub rather than the CCs, I guess, but nevertheless). I just finished 2x3, and it was the worst yet for accurate CCs. I can speak German, so I don't need the subs for language reasons, but it's frustrating to know they're not really getting to react to the true dialogue at points. Some lines are hard hitters that just don't land with these CCs. I've always found it really disrespectful to people who need subtitles for hearing or auditory processing issues (as I do). CCs should really be based on the original language first and foremost, and provide the most accurate experience possible. Another annoying thing is the sanitisation of subtitles, where translations for swear words will have toned down words that just don't have the same weight. Anyway, I'll stop ranting. Just a bit peeve of mine lol

I will say that I have no clue why closed captioning tends to be based off of dubs since, presumably, if a deaf or hard of hearing person is watching a show that's not in their native language, they're ALREADY going to be focused on the subtitles more than lip reading lmao.
