They did ma dawg Cole Young so dirty for no reason besides unwarranted hate in the first movie 😭 like I do get it but damn he was actually cool. Fun movie nonetheless. The main thing that bothered me was it just felt like Karl Urban to me (and just how I decided to interpret it) was more of a "FAN" of Johnny Cage like a deep obsessed fanatic and wanted to cosplay as him and towards the end got the "Johnny Cage" video game gimmicks. While I very very much still have Annihilation as my favorite (YES it is oh well lmfao leave me alone😭😭🥹) I appreciated this movie referenced a lot of the game's styles and story. Gave it a solid 7.5-8/10

I certainly did not like Cole's inclusion in the first movie and glad he is gone, but I felt like they at least gave him a good send off for the actor, who from what i've seen in interviews and such is a chill dude. He technically beat Shao Khan if not for the shinnok hacks but still was got a crushed in the end, good way to send off without being completely disrespectful. Also, glad Kitana was the second protagonist, Johnny Cage unfortunately did not do much for me, I think the build up to the shadowkick was way too much, he could of unlocked that during the baraka fight tbh, and maybe gave him his other green shit later or maybe even a triple uppercut fatal lol missed opportunities

Not only was Cole’s head crushed, he was literally pushed into the dead pool to dissolve, he’s gone. Stuff like that is deliberate just like the other potential revive targets being Kung Lao and Jax’s bodies being for the most part still in tact and not obliterated. Breaking the fourth wall of the movie though, the writers already confirmed that Cole was killed off due to poor reception and stealing focus from fan favorites and stated he will not come back, but the actor may return as a different character.

The actor for Sonya does a terrible job for her character I've felt nothing for her for both of the movies. I wish she died instead of Jax his character is okay to me but Cole for being an movie original character. He is severely MEH to me his story was ok the writers could've easily made his actor into a in game character he is the perfect person to play Kenshi Takahashi. The formula was right there but they absolutely fumbled I'm also disappointed cause they didn't really do anything with him they could've at least put in MK1 for like dlc or something outside of the movies. And his powers just reminds me of an asian black panther.

Sheera’s reaction to Liu Kang’s exit from the film killed me 🤣 What I’m hoping for Cole is this: they try to revive him but because his body dissolved in acid, they can only bring back his soul or a fragment of his soul. Then necromancy shit happens, maybe they use the body of a recently deceased blind man named Kenshi as a vessel for his soul. Boom, Cole’s back but he’s Kenshi. Or bring Cole back as part of Ermac—perhaps Quan Chi creates Ermac in secret, as he’s being forced to revive Earthrealm’s champions. He uses Cole’s soul and other souls that he corrupts into being evil and uses them to create Ermac. Quan Chi uses Ermac to sneak attack the Earthrealm fighters, maybe kills one. Ermac could stay a bad guy or be converted to a good guy or laid to rest or whatever. Lewis Tan could play Ermac because he’s a martial artist and can do the fight choreo.

Yeah there was at least 1 or 2 fight sequences that was hype but overall I would give this 4.9/10. Cole as a character should’ve never existed lol but the actor should’ve played Kenshi. Just have the movie be campy, have a bunch of fan service, and dope fight sequences but with a decent cohesive storyline. I have a feeling the Street Fighter movie might those marks better.

It's not obvious at first that it's Noob Saibot. 1. it uses his 2019 design, and whilst pretty good, it's not his iconic look. His shadow in the movie uses his more iconic design from the past but it's hard to see because it's so dark. and 2. Not many people know Noob is a Revenant of Bi-Han, aka Sub-Zero I aka evil Sub-Zero. We've already seen Sindel looking messed up, so it's easy to think we're just looking at a messed up zombie of Sub-Zero before it clicks that it's suddenly Noob when he uses Noob's powers.

Yeah this film is quite a bit better than the first. They really upped the choreography, Johnny Cage does make for a better protagonist because he's given personality and a better arc (though it does feel like he kind of just falls into everything), the video game lines brought in feel more natural, and Kitana is like Scorpion from the first in that she has most compelling story going on. Outside of that some of the acting is still off (particularly with Sonya), the ending does feel a bit rushed with characters making hasty exits or turning sides to quickly, and the movie (much like the first) feels like all it needs to do is have the references to games, the characters, and the violence in order to be satisfactory. Perhaps for hardcore fans it is, but for mainstream audiences not so much. Look at the box office for this or the reception of the Warcraft movie. Also a small nitpick, I'm not sure I like what they did with Baraka 😆. His spikes not being more blade-like I can accept, but them deciding to go the more goofy route with him not so much lol 🤔.

Cole only got poor reception because the writers didn't write him well in the first place. He had all the potential in the world in the first film, but they instead made him the most bland protagonist. So much so that people are applauding him getting killed off 😑.

You can up choreography all you want but if the actors fail to execute it properly, I'll even settle for okay, then it's a waste. I can only assume the Jax thing is because the actor probably actually grew his own beard for the character and it just doesn't fully grow by itself? I know my goatee never connects on both sides, only one, and I either have to hope people don't care enough to notice or actively avoid it growing. Edit: On closer look, it just seems like he has an especially long hair on one side of his goatee that gives it the appearance of being half grown but in reality, it's just a single long hair.
