This episode was alright. They didn't have my king Vax in it 😒 he fr shouldn't have ended up with that redhead. She really cool I like her but not with Vax you know? They fr don't feel like they have chemistry. Like how Mark and Eve don't have chemistry. They were way better apart fr. 😭😭

Paused the show so idk if you answer this for yourselves or not yet, but just for the record -- Tary is Sam Riegel (Scanlan)'s replacement character for when Scanlan left! For the show, they got Wayne Brady to voice him instead of Sam, and I guess have made Scanlan very consistently there (if away from the party) instead of just gone so people are less confused.

To be perfectly honest with you one of the very few things I dislike about the show is that they really did Vaxleth's whole relationship a disservice compared to the campaign. I can't complain much because the cast had a heavy hand in the script and plot, but there are a few things that get lost (or are added, tbh) in the adaptation for the worse.

I feel the same! I’ve always felt like their relationship in the show is pretty forced. Like they have cute moments sure but ehhh. Honestly Vax has the most chemistry with Gilmore in the show lol

Yeah it was after the sphinx when the party got separated, as soon as they did grog got possessed by the sword but overcame it and smashed it against rocks to destroy it

The Mighty Nein was so peak that I feel like this series has to really knock it out of the park for me, and this episode was okay. It was a nice table-setting episode, but I'm excited to be back. However, the hype feels different; it feels off.

Nope! Well, recording-wise, yes I believe this is around the time of his diagnosis and surgery (which is why I don't expect much out of Scanlan this season) -- but no, he had Scanlan leave the campaign, in honestly a much harsher way than here in the show but I've also heard some of that will be included this season. Anyway, obviously he wasn't going to leave the campaign as a player, so he came in with Taryon instead! Scanlan was fully gone in the game for a hot minute; it's nice the show is still including him.

Mighty nein definitely raised the bar. But vox always felt more like guardians while mighty nein feels more like avengers. Episodes 2 3 and 4 are peak by the way

MN was HEAT! I thought I wouldn't be able to deal with watching Vox Muh-sheena again, honestly... I was wrong! This has been my favorite season so far! TBH... I think it's just better without Scanlan and his antics. I can vibe a lot more with Wayne Brady for some reason lol Either way, it's a dark season, but they brought the goofy comedy vibes back and I'm loving it

Kind of the latter but also not really? Sam just felt like Scanlan as a character kind of hit a plateau, plus in-game he (Scanlan) was feeling some disappointment / distance with the party, and literally right before the big blowup he'd died twice -- and at least one of them was in front of Kaylie, who he had just promised to stay alive and be around for as a father. A lot of in-character reasons. Scanlan is kind of beloved by fandom; I, personally, am honestly not the biggest fan of "bit"/joke characters, which a lot of Sam's characters tend to fit the archetype of, especially early on in CR campaigns. That said, Scanlan is great and has very good narrative moments, which I hope they translate over to the show! (I'd say Scanlan is my second favorite Sam Riegel PC, only beat out by the one he's currently playing in campaign four.)

You know, I never thought about it (just bc they were pushed as a couple since S1) but I actually completely agree. Vax is an extremely personable and friendly character who has a great rapport with everyone, so they should have had his partner be someone who he has very unique dynamic with compared to the others. But it doesn't feel like that at all. There's nothing about their bond that stands out in any interesting way. Like it's cute but...meh? I think a friends-to-lovers classic slow-burn would have suited their storyline a lot better than the "will they, won't they" back and forth.
