i of course think the visual are gorgeous and everything. i just feel like the world got americanized in a way that didn’t make sense because they hadn’t been fully colonized, for so many people across the planet to speak perfect english doesn’t make sense and i miss hearing na’vi for the majority, it felt more immersive. what i liked about the first movie was the language, traditions, animals, spirituality and now the everyone speaks english, there’s a white boy with dreads, the boys say bro every 5 seconds, and TALKING WHALES… it just kinda took me out of the world. but im glad yall enjoyed. i’ll watch for laughs

yea i see that. i still don’t like that choice. like i said the na’vi language was one of the best parts of the first movie and taking that away so i can hear and cringey dialogue between the kids. idk to create a whole language for a series and then snatch it away for the majority of the rest of the movie sucks. warrior did a WAYYY better job at the switching between chinese and english and it made sense why it happened, it felt like they just did at here to keep ppl from complaining about having to read subtitles not that it added anything to the story

a big point people are also missing here is that conlangs (constructed languages) made for media like this cost money to be developed. it's not just a narrative choice but a cost saving measure as well i'm sure. writing a script, and performing in a conlang (that you'd literally have to learn) for a movie with a 3 hour runtime would be insane
