11:00 This theme song ends up ultimately replacing the "I'm still, and I'm here" song as the new theme of happy-sad and sadness in this show 😭. Tied with that for my favorite song in the series. It's called "Give You My Heart" by IU. IU is the number one female solo artist in Korea. Most of y'all know her as the female main character in When Life Gives You Tangerines. This song will be playing a lot more in the series

J Man

Remember, Captain Ri and Si-ri's actors end up having a baby right after this drama finished airing 😭 ❤️

J Man

53:20 Yep, that's Choi Ji Woo, one of the most legendary KDrama actresses of all time. Here they point out how she was in the KDrama Stairway to Heaven, which is really good. Even bigger, was she was also the female lead of the KDrama Winter Sonata (which also has an anime adaptation). Winter Sonata was the KDrama that is credited with making KDramas famous worldwide. The biggest strength of that drama was it introduced most of the positive KDrama tropes we see today (even the Yakuza game series turned Winter Sonata into a long plot point). Choi Ji Woo is considered a GOAT.

even though i don’t know a lick of korean besides the iconic shit.. i love how they’re able to make the difference in accents between the north & south, noticeable enough to where the viewer can tell. it makes the experience more enjoyable.

J Man

They even drop in the double subtitles too, because South Koreans can't understand what they are saying when they make the shift

J

oh yeah, i was wondering why they were doing that.. that makes sense

It’s insane how the roles have been reversed with one person getting shot and the other worried to the point they’ll end up feeling worried about the outcome of whether or not they’ll survive. If this wasn’t fate, then they wouldn’t have been able to go through the same pain together… 🥺 Also considering the fact that the Kdrama fan got to meet his idol (well an idol in his eyes, as an actress) in a way, he got so damn lucky being in the same unit under Jeonghyuk and as fate would have it, he and his unit plus the rat would have to go down South to retrieve his comrade lol 😂 Yeah the “errand” Seri sent him on was more of a personal M&G with the actress of the drama he always watched while up North. Also him pulling down the beanie over his face is actually a reference to another Kdrama, “Stairway to Heaven” where one of the male leads did just that. You’d have to watch that drama to understand that reference because nobody will know what’s up 😅 I mean the fact that the 2nd Bro got robbed simply because of his greedy desires. Quite the karma that’s gonna bite him in the ass with what’s to come (in the most unexpected play from a certain source). So yeah this whole series is a real life “How I Met Your Mother” moment (without being stranded in NK) lol 😂 **ALSO** forgot to mention: KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is the bomb…!! Like crispy chicken with the garlic soy sauce on it, Chef’s Kiss! 🔥🔥

I mean the other OST song will still be played, but agreed. This is an amazing batch of songs that’s the only one I’ve not skipped once…! 🤩🥰

J Man

Oh yeah, I remember it being played more. The IU one just ends up showing up more during the climatic points. I actually wish they gave Seo Dan and Alberto more love with the lyrical soundtrack

Jamaal Ellison

Their whole little date scene feels like every car commercial I've ever seen. 😭😂

Their whole little date scene feels like every car commercial I've ever seen. 😭😂

Jamaal Ellison

And whoever singing the song during their date is killing it.

Jamaal Ellison

I don't know what that was supposed to make me feel. It did nothing but frustrate me. I needed him to lock in. 😂

J Man

I agree, he is just one of those starstruck otakus that show up at conventions and hold up the autograph line

J Man

Interesting fact, the KDrama weeb's brother is the writer of Weak Hero Class 1 and 2. That's why the weeb's actor was in Weak Hero. He was the dorky bully from Season 2.

J Man

Song? Are you talking about the couple ring scene? The person singing that song is the main actress from When Life Gives You Tangerines, IU.

Jamaal Ellison

I've been doing a few other things since posting. I'm talking about some playing during their date in the beginning. Whatever that song is, it is dope.

Jamaal Ellison

Bro, stop aura farming. Come save me, he's dragging me away. Hustle, put some pep in your step. Honestly, everyone was trying to aura farm when they should have been hustling. This is a vague reference for some, but it reminds me of AEW when Matt Hardy was getting beat up and Jeff Hardy made his debut and started doing his whole dance entrance, but he should've been running to save his brother. But those who know, know, and we can be best friends.

WTT_321

Listen y'all, unless if you got to meet one of YOUR idols that you've been starstruck by, you probably wouldn't understand just how elated he was meeting her... I feel him when I watched that because Kpop reasons lol

WTT_321

I mean it's a Kdrama, you'd have to pull your suspension of belief to the side and know that they'll do dumb sh*t that would make no sense, but hey oh well...

J Man

But Jeff Hardy HAD to do his dance. Anytime that theme plays you have to do the Jeff Hardy dance. I actually give credit to Andrade for not doing the usual pro wrestling thing of freezing in place when theme music starts playing. Instead, Andrade was logical in continuing to whoop Matt Hardy's ass. (I recently saw a scene in TNA recently where Moose decided to aura farm arm pump and walk to the ring while babyfaces are getting their asses kicked in the ring)

Sunny

Tbh I wouldn't remember the faces of random people who've asked me to take pics of them, if they were to become famous years later I would not recognize them lol

Jamaal Ellison

It always warms my heart. She could see someone properly educated; it's good to know you're a man of the culture.

Mxri

Why did that scene with the clothes make me emotional? lol I didn't really realize how young he was... He just wants to be a kid.

Mxri

37:13 Me and Sheerah screeching like banshee.

Mxri

48:38 Yeah, Dan... Give it up, Deelishis.

J Man

That kid is one of the emotional x factor of the show. Because he's in a poor North Korean family, he was raised to be a soldier to try to get his family a better life (in NK, the higher rank you are, the more the corruption works in your favor). They did a good job here having him go to SK to play video games and stuff like a normal kid.

john segun doe

That dorky bully was Hiiiiiiiilarious. Like I never took bro serious

rickie woodson

is that iu singing during the part they are putting on the rings? sounds like her voice but i dont recognize the song

rickie woodson

solution: fake their deaths. bus explodes with "the whole team on it" and say they died and they can all become defectors, apply for asylum and citizenship and just live in the south happily ever after. we can work on getting their families down there off screen via text or exposition of "now we can come up with a plan to get your family here"

rickie woodson

se-ri isnt that girl because this isnt that show. she has to be the meek damsel in distress or "a delicate swallow" as she describes herself. no way would she take urgency over her own safety, let alone run anyone over with her car. cant relate. its a life or death situation, and though i know im dying someday, im not dying TODAY. im running over them thugs and then when i see old boy, im rolling down my window, going 100 miles yelling to my man "look out he's behind the car with a gun" and im ramming it. now if i get shot or blown up from the impact so be it but at least i did SOMETHING.
