Oliverson

God refresh, 1st

Izak

can't wait to watch and see ur reactions and the comments who are watching it with u for the first time lol

Jamaal Ellison

Okay y'all must have recorded this before Dreamcon cause ain't no way.

lordofcheeks

Brother, Lupa tweeted that they started recording at 1am when they got home

Jamaal Ellison

I can only imagine what Roshi threatened to cut off of Lupa's body if he didn't stay and record with him and Sheera.

Jonathan Hart

Vax so wrong for that. We made ourselves look like cowards before the whole world, and you get yourself offer anyway

Ronnie

If you can't wait for the final season, this pretty much leaves off at the end of campaign 1 episode 102 and goes into 103.

Jonathan Hart

We close to the end of the story?

Ronnie

Yeah. S5 is gonna wrap it up. This fight against the Whispered One (Vecna in the campaign) is the final boss arc.

Dallas

bitched on live stream 🫩 rip to the goat

Dallas

This is DND Vecna btw

PJ Rivera

Loved this season can’t wait for mighty nein season 2 and schedule soon?

Bria A.

For the record, canonically this is Vecna! Matt Mercer more or less reskinned all of the "canon" D&D gods and betrayer gods for his personal pantheon in Exandria around the second campaign (to distance themselves from The Brand (TM) but also to duck copyright issues I presume) and they all get referred to by titles now.

Jacob Livingston

In the last episode the Hight septon told Rhaenyra he crowned aegon some months ago so it has only bee 3-4ish months between then and now. It’s been a very short period of time in the actual show. I think sunfyre is still alive, you saw meleys decaying but not sunfyre.

Adrian Locke

The only Vecna that get any respect outta me. The Matron a smoke demon though, she not letting that slide. M9 byke around January I think

Dallas

looking at true DND Vecna makes me so much more disappointed in what stranger things gave us 🫩

Panda

Vax wen't out like a G. Ain't no way you are going to use me to get to my people, like sheera said. I'd take that L any day, and get my lick in with a spit in the face too.

Invader Rin

You know how the ending of Stranger Things had Vecna, well, this is actually Vecna from D&D. A more proper version of the character and all his glory.

Adrian Locke

Nigga slimed out my goat live on Twitch smh 🤦🏽‍♂️

Krype

Damn good season

Izak

for those that want to see how it happened in the campaign here's the video, it's a bit different because it happened during a fight and characters kept dying and coming back lmao ( people think vox die a lot in the animation but they died 10 times more in the campaign lol) watch till 3:21:50 then skip to 3:33:00 and then start again: https://youtu.be/N1A-JGIF1Vc?si=hGOcAzzl95LXeNbH&t=11831 Also if u can't wait for s5 u can start from c1e103, and they have both the video version on youtube or podcast format on spotify

Bria A.

getting headshot disintegrated live in 4k is crazy

Jonathan Hart

Damn. It's been real, bro. Gonna miss this story

Kingbrick

I believed he’s lying about vax not being able to permanently put him down. This was the one moment Vax’s GOD LITERALLY needed him to lock in for.

Mrbondfire

They lost and were made to look pathetic to the whole world. Vax did the right thing by putting a battery in they’re back

William Tippen

Pike as good as dead if it’s me 🤷🏾‍♂️

Aniki Pft

Pike saw Gideon's truth through Mythcarver so technically he didn't lie about his past and what he strived to do.

Hybrid10Prime

Shi- I didn't even consider how Kiki might turn on her. Next season is going to be SPICY

Totally Thomas

Yep, When Critical Role got the show greenlit, and with D&D company demanding payment from streamers using their stuff, Matt made sure to avoid copyright issues by changing the gods' names to titles. P.S. This is the Vecna we should've gotten! (cough cough) Stranger Things!

Frederick

Mans turned into Vecna. Andy Serkis absolutely killed his role.

Bria A.

I don't know if this is entirely the case, since Matt started the official name to moniker transition way back in CR2? We rarely ever got the Wildmother referred to as Melora anymore, for example. But I could be wrong, and that's definitely a contributing factor re: the animated series specifically

DevilMayCarter

Think about how this all started in Season 1, Vax got everyone on board after that dragon wrecked everything. With a bloody coin in his hand, said if we go out, we'll go out gloriously. Him delivering the final blow on Thordak, he's always been that guy; just came full circle here. Gonna be a mad dash to the final season that's for sure.

Raymond Terry

Happy he got clapped. The story needed it.

Fuji

nahh bro, matron gotta bring him back somehow or maybe he will help them with the matron or something no way he is gone gone

Rozay31

Bc he showed the world that even when it's a literal God sometimes you still gotta defy them but at least they got a battery in their back bc if Vax didn't die they wouldn't wanna fight homeboy again

ccadalin

They absolutely hit the jackpot getting Andy Serkis to voice The Whispered One

Rozay31

that sounds like hating

Diggs

Lupa got me blocked so I ain't even see that.

Marlia

I wonder how Kiki and Vex will feel about Pike next season. The one thing he absolutely needed was Pike giving her blood. If she didn't do it, this would not have happened.

Teeny Mite

Ima wait for the season instead of watching the campaign but remember scanlan's whole thing about be a rebellion leader? during the briarwoods arc. I wonder if that is actually going to happen where he leads a rebellion against this dude and reconnected machina who are mentally defeated.

Teeny Mite

i think its was a good and bad ending type of death facing the litch. vax could of died in a self sacrifice killing the litch but the bad ending, someone else killed him and vax survived. So fate had to take him out another way. I believe vax will died either way, its just the blow up was the best way.

Kermit

Logically I think if they can bring Grog back they can bring Vax back too, considering this is based on actual dnd gameplay and there's an entire season left. Unless they filmed the rest of the campaign with one dead player awkwardly sitting there or missing entirely.

Teeny Mite

i wouldnt blame her either, i wonder if Cassandra and the rest will have their i told so moment as well. If they didnt go after her, vecna would still happen. It was really pike's fault but then again, he could of just killed her as a backup plan.

Teeny Mite

hating just to hate 😭

Nick Vaughn

Pike’s rationale for crashing out like that was flawed af which I understand is the point but like sheera said it best…Grog wouldn’t have wanted that. Also just my opinion but communication works both ways like how was it their fault that they tried to live their lives while not knowing what she was going through?

Wizard

On Facebook live and all

Renzo

I can't wait for the next season!!!

Teacupcats

Eh Kiki and vex would do the same to save vax and they’ve shown the parallels between them and pike and the hypocrisy

Sam

Can't wait for you guys to see the last season. It's gonna be ballistic!

Kanta

grog just spent half this finale dead- I'm pretty sure he's getting rez'd somehow

Vecna and Thragg giving the protagonists choices that aren't really choices lol

CentipedeKid

Do you understand how stupid that was? They all could have died as a result. They got lucky it was just Vax.

Addy

Pike's crisis of faith has been one of my favorite storylines in this show. We love complexity

Tbdovan

Scanlan we need your hand. The chroma conclave might not of been so bad. We need some dragon power now

Jason Marbach

Ashley’s monologue, and Grog’s speech…some of the best dialogue and best VA performances in western animation, for me. Just soul crushing, beautiful stuff

ZO

Kiki pissed me off she got vax killed

WackySwacky

Vox Machina’s story will continue in Might Nein and Hell’s Bells, the second and third campaigns, which are also getting animated series adaptations.

WackySwacky

Brother this is the Vox Machina comment section

ZO

Yea but it’s also Kiki fault too by giving the flower to him he lost his powers

B

The WO is also the antithesis to the Matron. And the Matron has helped Vax numerous times since he became her champion. There is no world where Vax would go back on his oath/obligation towards the Matron and kneel for her arch enemy.

Teyon Alexander

Live streaming Vax’s death….yeah Vox Machina needs to limit who gets a podcast. Lol

Panda

You are already at the mercy of the dude, he could of killed them just as easily prior to puppeteering them around and putting them on display. The heroes kneeling to him was important and you already lost due to your own choices of removing the curse. Imo that's taking a small victory where you could by denying him what he wants.

Jamaal Ellison

What's the benefit of hindsight? I can agree. The Bard's lament should have been at the end of season 3. Having it during this season, only to later have the pikes lament happening at the finale, kind of undercuts Scanlan's scene a bit.

Jamaal Ellison

I refuse to believe this show and invisible are on the same platform.

Jamaal Ellison

Vax refused the cure all this time, and then in the end, he only accepted it because he genuinely believed it was over. They all did; you can't put that on her. They all thought it was over. They all got played; that's not fair.

Jamaal Ellison

They'll probably look at Pike differently because she said some pretty wild stuff in anger. She also did some wild stuff in anger. As far as Kiki can see, Vax is taking out her frustrations on her. It wouldn't be right or fair, but I could see it because that's her brother. However, Vex refused to take the cure all season and only took it in the last moments because he thought Vecna was dead. They all did; no one stopped him from taking the potion because they all believed it was over.

ShaquanVirse

PIKE KILLED VAX lol Kiki did nothing wrong

Tahj Brown

And thats why vax was my favorite from jump went out like a real nigga😤

Izak

I mean bard's lament was either happening this season or no at all because they didn't know wether they would get a s4 or not and weren't going to leave the show on Bard's lament 😔

Izak

Vecna killed vax, not pike or kiki

Polygon

Vox Machina actually got shit-stomped waaaaaay harder than what the animated show portrays. Half the party was paralyzed and couldn’t act as soon as the battle begun and Vex actually died as well. Vecna made Vax watch as he used Power Word Kill on her, a 9th level spell that automatically kills the target if they have 100hp or less with no way to stop it. They actually failed to stop the ritual and had to flee combat because of how bad they were getting rocked. The show changed quite a bit. For anyone who wants to see how this fight actually played out, its episode 102 of campaign one “race to the tower”.

2026-10-05 14:00 Yo Pike, MASSIVELY fucked up. Any and every catastrophe that nigga causes is on her head. Now she really got something to feel guilty about. And I although it won’t happen and I love Pike, couldn’t blame Keyleth or Vex for killing her. Vax did the right thing. He recognized his life wasn’t more important than the entire world’s. If not Vecna would’ve broke the morale of the entire continent, and they would’ve submitted entirely. He made their heroes, look weak and pathetic. Now Vax is a martyr and hope is alive, and people will rebel.

DonnyBoxcars

yeah but he probably left out important details, like as to who his lover was, what his specific beef with the matron of Ravens was and why only a band of like 4 gods out of like 18 tried to stop him. We only saw like the Dawnfather, the Everlight, the knowing mistress, and the matron of ravens, based on the champions they sent, try to stop him and the evil ones were inexplicably absent. Edit: it was the Wildmother, the one with the Fenris Bow, that sent their Champion not the Everlight. You can see it in his flashback. The everlight doesnt' ever seem to do jack.

RinCaimo

Well the Everlight didn't have NEAR as many followers as some of the other Prime gods so she lacked the firepower...the 4 that went after Vecna are the gods with the most worshippers aka the most power.

Aniki Pft

Nvm I tried doing some research and got spoiled lmao

RinCaimo

I think a lot of people forget Venca has been in the background, manipulating Pike, since season 3. First he has Zerxus plant the seeds of doubt when Pike is ALREADY in a shakey spot with her faith...then "Gideon" personally inserts himself into Pike's hometown community and tries to get on Wilhand's side...and who is the first people of Vox Machina Tary Darrington HAPPENS to find over a literal LORD and LADY of Whitestone? Pike and Grog. Hell, he even had Zerxus give Pike a Shadowstone medal so she wouldn't get ripped up by the portal. So I can't find it in me to fully blame Pike.

ViralCorgi

First Witch Hat Atelier now this?? I can't keep taking these cliff hanger season finales 😭😭😭

ViralCorgi

This was the most frustrating part. The large majority of her struggles were completely internal and hidden. When she lost connection to the Everlight she went out of her way to keep it from everyone. When her grandpa died even Grog couldn't get her to open up and properly mourn. She put a ton of pressure on herself and shouldered her shame and sense of abandonment, but got mad with everyone for not being mind readers. I know this is highly realistic for hyper independent and reliable characters to experience, but her never acknowledging that it was her own lack of communication that kept her isolated upset me. I hope they circle back to that next season.

DonnyBoxcars

man, with the kind of guidance she gives I can understand why don't have many followers. Isn't that like a self fulfilling prophecy? Does she give out crappy guidance and boons because she has very few followers or does she have few followers because she gives out crappy guidance and boons? I don't even know what domain she governs or what she is the goddess of.

Cool The Wrathful

NOOOO, NOT MY GOAT😭 Vax’ildan you were one of my favorite characters ever🙏🏿

Delinda Arts

Vax stood 10 toes down on the gang. I respect it.

DonnyBoxcars

Vax was right to refuse the cure though. The blight was a gift let Vax access the matrons power which incidently is what was enabled them to win phar Amphala. It could've potentially given him the power to end Gideon permanently. Gideon stated it was a "shame for them" that she got rid of Vax's blight because Vax could've used it still to fight Gideon in his god form.

Raventerrace

Finally bro about time it feels like every time one of them die they come back they need to stay dead fr so we can feel it

Offw0rlder

First of all, this is primarily Pike’s dumbass fault. She should’ve known Grog wasn’t gonna go for that, so if you weren’t prepared to kill him too (Since apparently if her other friends die its cool) then tf was the point? “It’s all good he’ll just revive Grog again and everyone else & it’ll be fine!”Dumbass 😒

Offw0rlder

With that said, Vax has my respect. He knew that he’d die on the spot, but he also didn’t want to be the reason his friends gave up fighting. His death was the reason hope isn’t truly lost. The choice may seem foolish, but how do we know they would’ve came up with something later? How do we know they wouldn’t be fully broken?

Anathem

The Whispered One's whole speech was about how Faith gives power. By defying him, Vax has likely given enough people a glimmer of hope to keep going

heidrun

This season makes me feel justified in my eternal hate for Pike

Jnutt913

Rip Vax. It should have been PIke she's dead in my eyes from this point forward

Micah Steinhoff

This is just speculation, but she seems to have put a lot of emphasis on her followers choosing their own path, and not really setting out tenants for them. Which in a fantasy world doesn't have much of a draw when, you know, gods are real. If I had a choice between a god of death that literally allows me to resurrect loved ones and one that tells me "hey you gotta make your own path" the god of death seems more persuasive.

DonnyBoxcars

Yup totally Pike's fault. She's a cleric or paladin of a faith system and doesn't understand that because there are limits to her own god's domain cuz there are like 20 of them who either control their own aspects and domains or are jockeying for more power. Her god's power isn't omnipotent but she has the audacity to question her when the Everlight has literally given her the power to heal fatal wounds since she was child. What more proof does she need that her god is on her side? Oh because the everlight won't and can't solve every problem when she clings on to her for instruction like a child and cries when she doesn't get what she needs. Man she had me so mad when she did the dumbest crap in the Hell's of Despath in Dis and tried to heal a DAMNED soul when she knows full well that her god's domain doesn't work there.

Matt

I really like the whispered one. Very thanos. Assuming he kept his word and revived all his followers

Ayanda Mpofu

The villain winning is always so interesting. And I kinda respect Vax for that, very gangsta.

blud

MAN I CANT WAIT FOR S5

Xavier Chandler

I stand w/Vax. We don't negotiate w/terrorist 😤

Wiz

LMFAO

JustADad 🟣⚫️

This is the real Vecna. I’ve been waiting for this for so long. I’m just so sick I gotta wait probably another 2 years for the finale.

JustADad 🟣⚫️

Campaign 3 is getting an adaptation? Also people aren’t even remotely ready for how good Might Nein is gonna be. That’s the campaign I feel like they really found their stride and still the best to date.

JustADad 🟣⚫️

No spoilers at all but keep in mind that Scanlan was gone for a huge portion of the campaign and in came Darian (also played by Sam right after). Also no spoilers for other campaigns but they make things work.

JustADad 🟣⚫️

Campaign Vox was getting packed up on a loop 😭🤣 it’s something I kinda miss and loved about it.

Ronnie

Nothings been official confirmed yet for C3, but it's probably safe to say we'll get one eventually. They even introduced Laudna when they really didn't need to, and we got the Braius easter egg in TM9
