CRAZY EP. Also in Ep 3 I think they were dropping hints in the dialogue talking about how a vampire like Lestat can't die so easily, I was not expecting that throw away line to give me hope at the end of this lol

halsa

I’m seated so ready for this reaction

Yeah they really just wrote the Drake line and were surprised it actually happened, they talked about it a bit in one of the interviews

Chief Doodle

The Drake 50 songs and Taylor and Travis wedding is hilarious level of foresight since they wrote this in like 2024/2025?

PetersThimble

And where are the people that swore up and down Louis' version of how the train scene went was 100% correct? Lestat is a lot of things but literally why would he threaten to SA his daughter who he loved despite their dysfunction

LC

My favorite YouTuber, YaBoyDanielMalloy

James Germain

31:24 "you dont come in the same door you come out of" is the line of the season lol 😂😂🤣😂🤣

☆kat☆

Especially when you consider his own mama groomed him!

GojosHoho

Yall you forgot Louis is GAY? no motherfucking for him 😂

Jai_borngreat

Hi Roshi could u guys possibly react to the Mayfair witches it’s all connected to the interview with the vampire and the witch doing the seance is a part of the family

LaTesha

My top favorite songs, cabbage, stained glass eyes, loneliness and your biggest fan

Bria A.

I might watch it just because I'm a sucker for witches and I can easily enjoy things that aren't necessarily top quality, but the show itself is...... bad lol

kiki

And you know ghost Claudia was laughing her ass off watching their heads tumble down that bench lmfaooo

SakuraBlossom

That scene with Claudia is so incredible. So emotionally intense. Delainey, the woman that you are.

Bria A.

There's a lot of discussion and speculation that this episode was supposed to be set in New Orleans but for whatever reason they couldn't shoot there, so they used the other North American discount French city (Montreal) instead. A lot of scenes are clearly meant to be exact parallels to S1, and also there's just the thing of... why tf would Merrick be up in Montreal, Canada lmao

Jai_borngreat

Yeah it’s honestly lacks in comparison to interview with the vampire 😭 but for the sake of understanding the Anne rice universe it’s kinda fun watch

Jai_borngreat

I take back my comment Mayfair witches is doo doo garbage 😭 don’t react 🙏🏿

Indifferent Denji

This show is so good. This and xmen 97 are carrying the summer right now for me. Theres really not much anime im even into as much as these

itshawkguy

I have a theory why Lestat and Louis didn't sense the other two...they were "lost in the fog of love." Also Alex was probably being used a diversion. Or maybe Armand is just that good.

Sam Fernandez

Also knowing his own tragic turning with his own maker. Why would he then turn that on Claudia? Lestat is many things but he wouldn’t go that far.

GojosHoho

Wow Lestat and Louis really had a terrible night😭😭 that Claudia scene was nuts💀She hated their guts

N

claudia as a character shows how selfish louis and lestat are, especially with ‘the fog of love’ where they’re only thinking about each other and no one else, makes them oblivious to danger, how they treated claudia, not picking up daniel’s obvious probing and planning and inevitably led to their heads being chopped off. Louis and Lestat : too dumb bitches telling themselves ‘exxxaaaccctllyyy’

SakuraBlossom

As I've said, Daniel and Armand have got to GOOOOOOO

Youssef Loubnan

they said they can be alive while beheaded for a couple of hours, but someone has to put them back together

LeFlaneur

Why is French pretty much dead in New Orleans, while Montreal is a full-on francophone city?

Adrian Locke

Rename the show ‘The Victim Lestat’

LeFlaneur

I’m really confused as to why y’all rationale is that a survivor of SA can’t SA someone else. Not arguing that Louis is right or wrong, just, why would Lestat living that would mean he would not do something like that himself.

N

it’s also refreshing to see Claudia as lestat sees her, a perfect vampire who is able to manipulate masterfully and kill effortlessly which is something he admires about her. If we put these two narratives about her together with s1+2 & s3 it makes her character very impressive; a daughter that loves her parents but would never let that supersede the hatred she has for them for the way they treated her, this time she can express her torrent of emotions without having to care about how it may affect a fragile louis or indanger herself with lestat because she’s dead. Delaniey Hayles is a generational talent!

sol jam

Louis did a really good job painting her as an innocent sweet eternal girl meanwhile she's a master manipulator that HATED them and only went with Louis because he wasn't a threat and actually preferred Lestat more. I still think that she's justified with everything she said and did because Louis cries for her but he never prioritised her after Lestat it was Armand so no wonder she hated him because if we are truthful he kept betraying her over and over

LC

Yeah the tone shift to "Well that just happened" was super weird. Especially since Louis' whole arc was about his grief around Claudia and you'd think he'd have more of a reaction to how much she actually hated him. But it also reminds me of that really good Black Mirror episode, Eulogy, that has the same theme of how people tend to downplay their own role in contributing to a toxic relationship. So Lestat isn't the mustache twirling villain that beheaded people and threatened Claudia on a train, Claudia did goad Louis into killing Lestat, and Louis ignored Claudia in favor of both Armand and Lestat, and made it all about himself. They might be close to overusing the unreliable narrator trope, but I think they've used it really well so far.

sol jam

Man I really really wanted to love it but it's just BORING. The main character is basically a walking cardboard with a dialogue worse than StarWars prequels. The Talamsca part was the only intriguing part but even then it was just aimless

LeFlaneur

They called Merrick to fly to Montreal specifically for the séance, she wasn’t hanging out in Montreal.

𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐜 ✿

i’m more confused as to why his comment was being taken as such anyway . . it’s literally written in a way that implies he wouldn’t assault her (as bruce had done), but that he’d kill her. even in this episode it’s framed the same way. so i’ve just never understood where y’all got this ‘he’d r*pe her’ line of thought from.

N

which is something i don’t get , why would a ferocious vampire like herself be a flat perfect victim all the time! Every vampire has lied in this series so why take away the thing that makes a vampire a vampire? It’s ironic that people project this little girl onto claudia which is literally the signal most thing she despises.

Alexis Sullivan

The story of Claudia is such a tragedy. Her dad leaves her, aunt beats her, then Louis has Lestat turn her, not for her benefit but for his own. He was depressed at the time and he just wanted anything to focus on and make himself feel better and thats all she was for him. Something to make him feel better about being a vampire. Then Louis continuously chooses Lestat over her over and over and over again. Then she dies a horrible death. Then shes brought back and what does she see? Louis and Lestat togther. Again. Yea, shes pissed. And now even in death she still doesn't know peace. She's wondering purgatory looking for Madeleine. Her entire life is a tragedy. I saw a theory on Twitter that the reason she cant find Madeleine is cuz Claudia is in purgatory but Madeleine has completely crossed over. Claudia is filled with rage and had unfinished business thats keeping her from crossing over. Hopefully now that she got everything off her chest to them, it means she can cross over now and be with Madeleine, the only person who ever truly loved her for her. My heart breaks for Claudia, she didnt deserve anything she got. Louis and Lestat turning her lead her down a horrific life path.

Nick Vaughn

I love how much of a picture this season paints of Louie and how he just like Lestat is a selfish character but in his own way where he plays victim so much and only does what he has been doing just to make himself feel better. Conjuring Claudia was selfish and she had every right to go off on them as much as she did

Adrian Locke

Lestat trying to figure out why he actively, manically pursues failure then naming his unreleased albums kept till after his death ‘The Failures’. Peakpeakpeakpeakpeakpeak

Mya

I think they’re redirecting the conversation in an attempt to find some levity after the situation. I don’t think they’ve fully processed what just happened and they’re at a loss for words when it comes to Claudia. Claudia also made it clear that she’s tired of them talking about her. The best thing they can do is push forward and move on with closure she gave them. The grief is going to stay regardless of how they act afterwards. Totally agree with how selfish they are but that’s not anything new.

Bria A.

I said "up in", not "living", just meaning it logically would've made more sense for them to have all just been in New Orleans in the first place. And I'm not really making a statement on anything regarding the demographic? It was just a joke about Montreal being substitute New Orleans for the purposes of similar scenery

Jai_borngreat

The show has such potential from the source material it breaks my heart that it’s not a fitting adaptation 😫

Tori

I hope Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson win ALL the awards. They are phenomenal actors and I am crying for my shayla's 😞😞 honestly one of the best modern TV shows I've watched. Anne Rice the woman you are 🖤

Bria A.

On the one hand I want it to have actually been Claudia's ghost because I fully believe she had an undeniable right to air all that shit out, but there's a part of me that thinks it could have also been a random evil spirit impersonating her because of how "she" seemed to be confused about who was Louis and who was Lestat at the very beginning (but you could also interpret it as her ignoring Louis on purpose). I know the books give a more definitive answer on this, but I wonder how the show specifically plans on handling it...

Jamaal Ellison

Olympic level acting Oscar worthy acting. 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Macie

Dr. Fareed said in episode 3 that a vampire who's been around for a while can last up to 2 hours without a head and that someone of Lestat's strength could possibily last longer than that. So it's really just about who will help them before the time runs out on it. But I think the craziest thing about this whole episode is how they just had the worse night of their lives just be beheaded at the end and Lestat is still expected to have his concert the following night where he could also possibly be killed😂

J

I just realized now why Daniel asked Louis in the restaurant if “the veil of love” prevented him from those gotcha interview moments. Louis at this point has killed a ton of vamps so Dan was trying to figure out if it’s possible to get the jump on him and his theory was right.

𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐜 ✿

claudia both hates & loves louis and lestat. this is my second watch, and i’m personally of the mind that (if this is even her true spirit — i have slight doubts about it) she’d said a lot of things she knew would hurt louis specifically. she’d had all of her vampiric life to outwardly voice her disdain for lestat, even going as far as to plot & commit his very own “murder”; but she never really had gotten to lay it into louis quite like she had here. i’m sure her having died with the newfound information that he’d been the one that coaxed her turning, provided novel context to his choice of romantic love(s) over her again and again. dying right after that ? having to sit with it ? got her blood boiling as she’d sat in a dark abyss. he was the one that wanted her. thus, in her mind, the one who betrayed her most (hence the spiel, thick layering of her hatred for him above all others who’ve wrong her). i feel like it’s important to acknowledge this justified hatred, but on the same token — realize that it’s complicated. essentially, how you’d loathe a family member yet at the basis of your core ? rests love for them. crazy scene. then, louis & lestat talking about having a life together right after ? they’re sick. i love them, but they’re selfish as all hell.

Tbdovan

Yeah...she popped off with the acting skills this episode. Better than all of season 2

Yessi

he doesn’t see himself as such though

Mxri

48:17 Yikes..

☆kat☆

That's not actually the argument that I was making. Of course SA survivors can become abusers themselves. But I'm talking about Lestat specifically. The context matters. His own history, his relationship with Claudia, the way he's been characterized over centuries, and what we know about him all inform whether or not I find an accusation believable. I don't. That's not me saying it's totally impossible or anything I'm just saying it doesn't feel true for this character TO ME.

KingMarkoIII

I think your looking at it a bit weird. It very much affected them. It’s just…what do you say to getting closure for something that has been eating at you for over a century. Getting over it and then relapsing. Then realizing that in a way…you were wrong. It’s more tranquility of calmness in a storm then them just not caring. They have already been through the storm of emotions.

GoddessHex

I liked the interview (ironic) with insider with the cast and sam (Lestat) said “it’s wonderful closure for these characters as well because I think that they can finally get to acknowledge that they were terrible parents and that they really used somebody as a roof chilling that flew off their house and they had to fully deal with that and they continued to carry her as this idolized thing but actually used her as a crotch on their marriage and this person is really angry with them and she finally gets her actual say her truth out at them both, she fucking hated them both but they loved her for that because she’s full of rage and the torrent and the terror that is Claudia that she was this powerful beast of a vampire they didn’t give enough credit too, and that they see her in this final moment and she gives them all her rage and they take it, it’s so devastating that she doesn’t have a Louie or a Lestat in hell and she’s gonna search for Madeline for ever but they have to carry that not just the fact they lost Claudia they now carry the fact that Claudia is suffering for ever and they did that.” i absolutely adore how complex these character are.

Frederick

30:48 finally someone said it. Thank you Louis. 😂😂😂

Chanceg983

Armand talked Daniel into his revenge plot, and I already know the get back going to be insane based on the pettiness of both Louie and Lestat

Sare

I've meaning to say it since episode 1 of this season, but I always did find the train scene way out of character for Lestat. Not just the SA thing, but him dressing up like the attendant and puppeteering a dead guy like he was the Joker. At the time I chalked it up to the writers showing that we don't know how evil Lestat actually is, but even then, I never understood why he would need a disguise when he can control people's minds.

Delinda Arts

Ok….I need a Merrick spin-off

T

Vampires can survive decapitation! Fareed in ep3 says Class B vampires can survive 2-3 hours so someone like Lestat can survive 4-5 times longer than that. Keep in mind Lestat drank from Akasha so he also has the strongest blood (which Louis inherited) so they’d probably survive much longer as well! There have been hints that Lestat’s head would be chopped off through the season but Louis’ being chopped off as well shocked me! I think Daniel in the restaurant read Louis’ mind, saw he would raise hell if anything happened to Lestat, and knew immediately to tell Armand they had to take both their heads off.

Saphthings

Yeah the show creators said something, "we made a funny joke that ended up turning out to be true but it was a wild guess haha" lol

Anon7524

I just want to point out something as you kinda said definitively it's a certain way (even though I agree it's more likely Lestat is right here and didn't attempt that, and not Louis' version of events): This was from Lestat's prospective as well and his narrative he was presenting about how he felt events went down, so it's also about as likely to be as unreliable as Louis' account (other than it being a primary source of this specific scenario instead of a secondary source in Louis' case). If you're mentioning Louis unreliable narration of events, remember to give Lestat's narration of events the same doubt since he even said before he fills in the missing pieces with his own imagination/interpretation of what transpired

Elle

Louisiana native here: basically more people of English descent began to move into the state in the 1800s and early 1900s. The state government also made it illegal to speak French in schools in the 1920s. The nuns would literally beat children for doing so. Now generations later and more people moving to Louisiana from other states Louisiana isn’t as much of a Francophone state anymore. You can still find people that speak French in smaller bayou towns.

Alexis Sullivan

Forgot to say, there is an official Vampire Lestat soundtrack available on all major platforms. This song was called Brutal Love and the other one yall mentioned you like was Lonliness.

Saphthings

You know, it's important to point out to all the non book readers that in the books the vampires can't have sex. Yes. Really. In book reason is that a vampire is locked to how he was when he was turned, so... unaroused. Drinking blood IS their being intimate, so in the books it's more that they feed on each other, Gabrielle and Lestat, and it's very much a sexual thing. However honestly real world reason is that when these books came out a way that it was able to be digested by mainstream and excused for young women was that they had no sex in it. When she was older Anne Rice did admit that that wasn't ideal and that they should all be having sex lol. It's just interesting because this whole incest thing is so like... somehow the same but somehow different in the books.

Saphthings

When I saw this episode and all the Papa Legba stuff I was like, "omg I can't wait till Roshi and Lupa have to see all that voodoo with like Christian stuff in it and etc LOL Y'all got me knowing so much Jamaican and etc stuff over the years that me, a brazilian guy, said "bombaclatt" once when I got surprised and some jaimaican people in the trip looked at me like "oh he knows that?" and laughed haha.

Becca

You all are such good reactors. I feel like I say that a lot, but you're funny, smart, and empathetic, and I always look forward to seeing what you think of shows. You all jumping at the end was literally me. Love the discussion afterwards, and your points during the episode were spot on about Louis' trauma from Armand's gaslighting colliding with Lestat's panic attack about Daniel posting revenge porn of Lestat's mom sexually abusing him. Oof, Louis keeping that video of his rape rolling while trying to have a convo about it, you can see Lestat is getting visibly sick listening to it. Both of them have understandable reactions (oof Sam Reid really selling that panic attack), but I do think Louis was right to obliquely apologize at the bar. He was victim-blaming there in his shock and anger when he called Lestat sick and implied the abuse was consensual (lol just what every incest victim wants to hear). I think Louis really handled himself well after that initial reaction, though, gently trying to find a way into the conversation in a way that doesn't feel like a personal attack. Even his self-reflection after the seance. I actually really like that Claudia rained her rage down on them and both of them just accepted it. It reminds me of Lestat asking his mom "why won't you let me hate you?" Lestat and Louis, as Claudia's parents, let Claudia hate them here, and I like that juxtaposition. On that note, that Claudia scene was a work of art. Delainey Hales deserves an Emmy. I was sobbing when she called for Madeleine! This show is so good at making us feel for everyone. Every character is both victim and perpetrator. I love how they commit to that liminal space.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

Delainey (Caludia's Actress) said that a part of Claudia is jealous of Louis because he gets to be a rich powerful vampire with the love of his life (Lestat) and that she also found out before she died the true events of the way she was turned and learned Louis had lied about it, and she never got to be mad about it, so she was extra mean here to him because of that but it doesn't change the fact that she still does love both of them, but this was finally her time to speak the truth to them and she took it. She also revealed how deeply she manipulated Louis to help her kill Lestat because she wanted to finally show them how much of a strong, cunning, true vampire she was and so that Louis can stop infantilizing her, and dressing her up as some sort of fragile doll, which he has been doing all this time. This is a scene that does happen in one of the later books of the series, it wasn't in The Vampire Lestat, but Rolin (the creator) wanted to borrow this scene from the other book to help close out Louis biggest arc for this season.

Saphthings

You do have to remember that this whole season if from Lestat's perspective. He already said he will edit things as he wants for whatever reason. So we also have to take into account an unreliable narrator and how things went. The only scene we've ever seen in this whole show that is completely true and not someone's perspective is the beginning of the season at the auction. I do think Lestat is being pretty honest about things though.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

Regarding Lestat and his mother. Lestat deep down is aware that he is being abused by his mother, you can clearly see his physical discomfort whenever they have a sexual encounter, it's written all over his face. But he has a problem with seeing himself as a victim and simply cannot admit to it, but also if he admits it, that means admitting that his mother doesn't actually love him and never has, and that's a hard pill to swallow because she's been with him the longest. I genuinely felt so bad for him when he threw up in the car as well as his panic attack afterward, it's such a visceral and physical reaction to his sexual abuse being publicized, like Armand and Daniel gotta die for this, which I'm pretty sure Daniel is indeed going to die from this, because Lestat hinted at it in episode 3. I remember when I noticed it in episode 3, I was sad for Daniel, now I'm about to be happy, lol.

Lamaree Jackson

So is Akasha gonna hit the rinne rebirth or what?

targaryan women

Im crying lmaoo louis and lestat had a long night 😭

KittensandMotorcycles

Sheera you're usually right but you're so wrong on the Lestat argument - Lestat's callout of Louis was 1000% correct. Louis has been extraordinarily selfish, not giving a fuck when Lestat gets shot, only coming to Lestat when HE needs help, and Lestat never once judged him. Lestat is a victim of horrible abuse and grooming. What Louis is doing w Fraudia is genuinely as fucked as Lestat's situation imo

Ebronics

when he said "you should be thanking me" the look Lestate and Claudia gave him like "WHAT?!"

ultraviolet

nahh man it just doesn’t feel like character continuity. it’s not about there being any words but the fact that there’s was no reaction AT ALLL the louis I KNOW would be absolutely broken, not strolling through a park and sitting down for a loving chit chat with smiles and sarcasm. NOTHING? nahh

Narutofreak94

The first half of this episode was peace. My gosh the stress when Claudia arrived. The pain I felt for her rage. THE ENDING. I do love the foreshadowing they were hinting at with the strength of Lestat's lineage. We'll see that next week. I also really adore the complexities of each of the character's personalities and intents. All of the music will be added to my playlists~

Yessi

i wouldn’t say lestat was lying to louis about gabriella when he has been in denial and trying to convince himself it’s not abuse and it’s not wrong for centuries, it’s like making something crazy that’s happening to someone else about yourself (louis) but i do understand being freaked out when finding something like that out

Slime SLAT

I thought Louis was bi

Slime SLAT

I haven’t cried from watching a show/movie in a minute but lestat having a damn panic attack during that rant almost got me

ChickenDinners

In season one he said he used to pretend to like girls. He said it to Claudia when they were on a boat and she asked him about what love is like between two men.

5lime

yea i watches it n it was lowkey mid, Talamasca is better tho😅🔥

Slime SLAT

Amazing episode, me personally i cannot fuckin wait for daniel to get packed tf up. Dude has been annoying me since the show started.

Canaaaaa

Armand in s2: “You’re a manipulator, Claudia de Lioncourt!” Given that Armand is the closest parallel to Claudia, of course he could dissect her character the best out of everyone 👏 👏 👏 damn gremlin even knew who to name her after hahahahahh

Jamaal Ellison

It's been so long since the first two seasons. The second Claudia asked if Lestat and Louis were back together, seasons 1 and 2 re-downloaded in my brain. And I said, "Oh no, this is going to go really badly." Also, the Mayfair witch was talking about Papa Legba, Michael, and Angel Gabriel. So all that stuff really exists that would change how I move in life as there's undeniable proof like that. Also, I question is Claudia in Hell; she said she was in the dark.

John Fleming

More please and thanks Also, Sofia omg . Evil jugs ftw

John Fleming

Tis true. The only thing that can keep anyone away from Sofia and her “wilds” is biology. Louis is immune and probs lactose intolerant 💪🏾 Canon

Osborn Malakhov

Yeah, that part always sounded like bullshit. 1st season was through Louis' perspective so his hurt feelings portrayed Lestat way worse than he actually is. Lestat is actually the least dishonest out of them three. louis was deluding himself, claudia was being a manipulative bitch(that's cute, she grew exactly how Lestat wanted her to grow up). From them three Lestat is way more truthful to himself than them two. Also, lying to Louis about him threatening to rape her is disgusting and I don't know why there were so many claudia defenders, when they showed us even in the first season that she's hella manipulative.

George

Exactly angelic. I never took his comment to mean he'd rape her in the first place. I thought most people assumed it meant he'd either torture or kill her. I don't know where the rape accusation even came from.

rickie woodson

the mayfair witches crossover! this is how you do synergy mcu

LelaniG

Did Louis & Lestat deserve that? Absolutely Does Daniel have an ass whooping coming? Very much so

Lurkingposter

That wouldn't stop her from trying.

lackingnames

It is literally in character for Louis. Its telling you Louis isn't who you thought he was. He is probably the worst of the bunch.

Nya Nance

Lestat's face when Claudia tells him that she lied to Louis when she told him that Lestat was going to assault her... he knew that she was ruthless but not like that.

Lauren B.

"Drake dropped 50 songs today" 🤣🤣

Mellysomething

I feel like sheera really disregarded Lestat during the car scene. She didn’t try to see his side at all and kept just talking over his dialogue to hammer home “yeah it’s weird.” It wasn’t until roshi mentioned him being a victim that sheera acknowledged it. Which isn’t fair, Louis has a vast laundry list of shit he’s done, Lestat deserved grace especially considering everything we’ve learned about him this season. And she’s still looking at him like he’s the same as season 1 and 2

Ayanda Mpofu

This my favorite episode so far! And I'm really nervous cause the finale is really gonna top this too 😄.

Adley

Beware of spoilers y'all. The season finale was uploaded early on appletv like an hour ago, so clips are going to be everywhere soon.

Chriz Elkinberg

Lupa out here clutching his pearls at that beheading lol!!

Himindabank

lol “She’s going to fuck you” Bruh, Louis is a whole girl 🤣🤣🤣

Zacost

Lestat pov is so much funnier

Malik

I didn’t read it as them being fine at all. Their treatment of Claudia will haunt them forever. However, Louis has finally received closure. Claudia said keep her name out your mouth and basically burn any inkling of her existence. I’m not sure what people wanted. For Louis to continue moping and deluding himself into thinking he made Claudia a priority for another 20 mins? They know the truth now. There’s nothing more either of them can do but accept that they failed her. The damage is done.

Saylor

Because Louisiana banned French from public schools in 1921

NiyaNii

ive said it once and i'll say it again, i may hate Gabriella but my god that is a fine woman

rYenis

As funny as it is to think that lestat and louie caught a fade bc of revenge beef, i think the reason why armand and daniel killed them is because of the convergence prophecy. This whole season armand has been tweaking about this convergence and it might end the world/vampire species bc lestat's songs are uniting the vamps.

chassity king

Louis is no angel but the worst? dragging it

chassity king

They got their closure. They're devastated she hates them but they received what they wanted so to speak, now they move on
