Nah. Skip the movie, skip this series and go back and watch Stand Alone Complex. All time great dub with an iconic soundtrack from Yoko Kanno.

I think watching the 95' after this season is perfect for comparison while it is still fresh but also a bit more appreciation for the differences between the two 100%. It's too much of a classic to NOT see plus we already have our movie nights now anyway, easy layup

I don't know if they ever explicitly say what a ghost is, but I always took it the same way Roshi does, something close to a soul.

If y'all are getting into GITS then I highly recommend the Stand Alone Complex series. Season 1, Season 2, Solid State Society (movie) and Stand Alone Complex 2045 (Season 3). They're great and their stories are still relevant to today's events. And of course you'll be graced by the voices of the legendary Atsuko Tanaka (Motoko Kusanagi) and Origa (Singer of the opening themes).

Most likely, that garbage man was also hacked. That’s why he freaked out when he realized he’d been made. Shoddy work, though, if they had hacked him. They should’ve had him programmed to suicide if he’d been made. Letting him panic like that and run to his handler was amateurish, at best.

As a big time Berserk fan who owns all the manga and has been a fan for years, fuck no. There is a reason why 90% of actual fans tells you NOT to watch the shitty ass adaptions

because original does not mean better... yes this is more faithful to the manga but the manga is evidently full of naive ideas and incompatible tonalities smashed together. i'd almost go as far as saying it romaticizes the whole thing which is completely antithetical to the very concept of cyberpunk, or in other words, DYSTOPIAN sci-fi. also comparing a 79 minute movie to a 10x24min episode tv show is nonsensical, of course the movie had to prioritize what it wants to show. for one i'm glad it got rid of the goofy uwu robots. but dont get me wrong i dont think they should drop the show. they should absolutely watch both

Got a question for those that know the source material. That quick seed where her arm opened up and some wired cylinder things acted like the injected something into her. Did the guy with the strange eyes activate that? Clearly it ended the VR vacation

The 90s show is the only good adaption for what it is. No way it was gonna cover everything and back then shows didn't automatically get multiple seasons. As its own thing it's a great watch
