Apparently, Tyrell and his wife are actually speaking different languages that share some mutual intelligibility. Tyrell is speaking Swedish (since the actor is Swedish) and Joanna is speaking Danish (since she's from Denmark). The languages are close enough so they didn't bother having them speak just one or the other (assuming that was even possible), lmao

I actually think Tyrells thoughts about the waiter were very interesting because as someone who dealt with poverty and some hard times for years as a child Im very serious and intense about my own future. I wouldn't say I look down on ppl not in the upper classes because Im not one but I do find myself terrified that my entire life will literally cultivate to me just being some guy who moves boxes. And ill be honest it really me I upsets me, i know its a very terrible negative mindset to have but its a very real one that I think its deeper than pure classism. I think alot of it is that humans want to be special and our society really puts value on the dollar above all else, imo its fear of being inadequate. Im curious what shaped this mindset in Tyrell (cool ass name btw) Edit: I wrote all that before the bathroom scene and the "how ordinary" "...human unlike me" lines adds to my theory. Ppl like him like most humans want to feel "special" in whatever way

I think the scene between Tyrell and the wife beyond showing her not happy with her partner is showing that everyone in that circle/level is not really happy or satisfied. Everyone in the corporate ladder is chasing the next big thing and never happy where they are. It's the same with Angela and her dad no one is safe whether inside the system or under it

I think it was the theme of the episode that even the rich corporate people for all their wealth and nice decoration and space while looking down on us their money and position hasn’t fulfilled them. Nice place but can be better, rich partner but no love or sex and a good corporate position but it takes the soul out of you and can be better. It's just never enough. The waiter serves as a tool to terrifies the ones in the corporate ladder to keep going

That’s how it worked between the Norwegians, Swedish and Danish people in my high school. Thouggh they always said Swedish was the least intelligible one apparently lol. But it might have been those particular Swedish students’ accents who knows.
